To be fair to the writer, the internet is completely saturated with wannabe sports journalists/struggling copywriters that happen to like football. They have to churn out any old rubbish they're told to, just to get by. I'd say there's a pretty big chance that he doesn't believe/remotely care about any of the crap he's written.
