I use to use calcotts more than Bennetts back in the day, then there was a tackle shop on Parkhill for a short time, which I used to use aswell, but just can't remember the name of but Bob Roberts? Use to be in there a fair bit so whether it had anything to do with it don't know.
I want that hair.I want that suit.
Mum & dad lived in one of the cottages in the entrance to Norfolk Park.
Not seen this one of Sabella. Must be a few years before he joined us?

Do you still fish the Trent and Witham GBS?View attachment 31987
Good lad is Bill - his dad had the shop on Woodhead Road, I used to park just round the corner on match days, get the bait boxes from the car on the way back, and stock up for Sunday’s match on the Trent or Witham....happy days.
Now a very good business with a good website

I was a Trent Witham regular for years had a good few years on the commercialsNot for some years now, mate - I got into fly fishing, then salmon fishing, and that’s what I do now. We’re off to the Upper Tweed next week, same beat as the last twenty years, same set of reprobates, same hotel, same hangovers, it’s become a good habit!

It good to see sharing photos helps fellow blades talk and share parts of their lives.Growing up we lived just around the corner in the Vic Hallam's and my dad managed to get an allotment behind those cottages which he maintained for years before he was asked if he wanted to put his name down when one came available which he did. A year or so later one came vacant and he applied and got it. Mother was well happy with that and loved it. Unfortunately she passed away there at the age of 48. Dad a Blade all his life died there too in his sleep a few years later. Great memories of that place as my mother would look after my 3 girls while me and the old man walked to BDTBL and back on match days.
Fond memories now when we walk the dogs through the park nowadays.

Got a season ticket for Ladybower it covers some decent river stretches as well.PS. Seen your reply, I was typing like a madman - I meant to ask where you do your fishing? Fly fishing, Ladybower, Rutland?
We used to go to the Middle Level for the pike every autumn, Sixteen Foot, Relief Channel - the Witham was good for pike as well.
I used to deliver the Star mid seventies were just chaging the fleet from Austin A4 vans to marina vans
Love this thread ,this picture resulted in me investigating the Spion Kop and its history which I never really knew about.Doing my usual trawl of ebay for United stuff, came across a job lot of memorabilia of a Blade who has sadly passed away, a couple of shirts, one of those rectangular FA Cup mirrors that everyone used to have (mine fell off the wall and shattered about 15 years ago unfortunately), most interestingly though, there's a photo album or two.
Here's an image from the listing, the Kop being built.

All in hindsight admittedly but there was an opportunity missed.

Fish with the lures and big flies for the pike can’t mention the venues![]()
Got the Derbyshire County permit mainly Dove and Derwent.Ladybower has been excellent this year. I first had a season ticket about thirty years ago but gave it up when I joined my present club. The new people at Ladybower have turned it into an excellent fishery and I wish them every success.
Which river stretches does your season ticket include?
