Brooks Fee

£10 million is peanuts for a club like Liverpool. They can’t rate him that highly.

Fortunately for us he’s under contract, not a pre-Madonna and there’s no pressure to sell him this season.
So it will take a stupid offer for us to even consider it and even then I doubt we’d sell.

The offer needs to be near £20 million to have a chance and I can’t see any PL club bidding so high.
I’m pretty confident he’ll stay the whole season.

However if we fail to gain promotion then next season could be too tempting for both the player and SU.
If we gain promotion then I’d expect Brooks to sign a new long contract with us and stay.

Pre - Madonna? Please tell me he's not having a sex change?

Established Premiership player, experienced, England caps. Even if £40m was too much for Klopp to pay, using that figure to value Brooks is well, a bit "massivish" I'm afraid.

I'd argue that he isn't an 'established' PL player as he spent most of his career either injured or warming the bench for Arsenal. Yes he's got England caps, but by the time the Jan Transfer window comes round, so will Brooks (albeit Wales).

As the Ox is 25+ I'd argue he's as good as he's going to get, whereas Brooks' ceiling is still unknown.

Like I say if he's worth £40m that's where we start. Might not be where we end, but it should be where we start....

I'd say not far if 100 PL starts at 25 isn't bad and regardless of the fee two top six clubs - one being Chelsea willing to match Liverpools price - thought he was worth buying would indicate he was established.

No one would seriously think Brooks was worth £40m as of now so asking that imo would be ridiculous. If Young Thirsty at the Sty had done the same we'd be calling them deluded if they suggested that money.

His ceiling is unknown yes, as his ongoing development, which is why no one as of now would pay double what he's possibly worth.

If he wasn't our player, no one on here would be saying he's worth over £25m now. I may be wrong, but I doubt it.

He won’t be going anywhere in January. The money we would get is peanuts compared to promotion to the Premier league. We’re giving it a shot this season.

Jordan Rhodes cost £10m....

£20m and the pick of the Liverpool reserve players on a season long loan, otherwise no deal

Just been on RS - breaking news is that David Brooks...is signing a new contract. More later tonight. Get yer tranny turned on. (No, Tyler. Too obvious)

This is true. We can pontificate all we want, but if Man. City etc. want him, his parents will already have been taken for a drive around Alderley Edge, Hale Barns etc.
Has it changed a lot since Man City drove them round last time?

I think that's it sealed now brooks is stopping. wilder has said he isn't going no where and doesn't want him to leave, brooks has just signed a new 4 year contract with us so it shows he likes it here and has shown his loyalties by signing a new contract. I also think he is just enjoying playing football at the minute and wants to be able to force himself into the team and he knows he has a good chance of doing that with us as long as he keeps his form up and keeps on growing as a player. I also think the fact he was at man citys accadimy and they released him might have also put him off the potential of signing for a premiership club to get lost in the reserves and forgot about or overlooked as he must have been before. I can't wait to see him grow as a player I am sure one day he will be a premiership player and hopefully that day will be with us.

Whilst this is great news, every contract has a trigger fee. This means he will either stay or we can get shitloads for him in jan or next summer. His transfer fee has just skyrocketed! I hope we keep him though and i hope he starts alot more games this season.

No they don't. They usually do in Europe but not in England.

Sarcasm aside undisclosed means other teams won't be holding out for x amount if we need to buy a replacement.

OK then. Let's open the bidding at £50m....

I've thought for a while that £10m should be the starting point should he be sold. Good to see that figure already being touted.

Maybe £12m, £2m after 20 appearances, £2m after an England cap, £2m after a CL appearance and a 15% sell on clause.

Get him on a 4 year contract though and I'd be wanting £20m up front.
Did you know something we didn’t?!

Did you know something we didn’t?!

Nope, I'm as surprised as anybody! Funny coincidence though... I post about a 4 year contract and about 4 hours later it materialises!

I knew the club would be talking to him, I knew a 4 year deal is what they'd want, but I wasn't sure it would happen, and I certainly didn't think it would happen as early as this!

Now DB has signed a four year deal the ball is in his court. If he keeps improving as he has, he will be worth far more than any player we have had before. To be able to keep him if we go, up we will have to pay him eye watering wages. As good as things are at the moment, I'm struggling to see us paying him 100k a week no matter how well we could be doing.

Hopefully young DB is a sensible lad enough to realise that if a big club or even sort of highish midtable Prem team, that he might not get off the bench for awhile and could wallow in the doldrums. At the moment he is playing in a team that has drive and ambition and possibly could get auto, Tufty might not play him every game but he must know how popular he is here and is also playing with a confidence that could take a knock if moving as above, can you imagine any other young player than under CW who would consider twisting Hunt so far inside (in a derby match) out he could look up his own a*sehole and see what he had for breakfast the day before, we all know all players have a price on their heads but hopefully DB is a sensible lad and will bear this in mind.

I hope that my lad gets his Tony Currie after some of the dross he's watched.

Four years is not a bad start, lets hope we get in a position where he can do a Hagan and turn down a move away.

How good would that be?

Get Harry back next season.
