How would this all work out with FFP?

Will another ghost taxi firm be created?

If true, his compo package and the new gaffer's wages will all contribute towards FFP.

Can't see a recently successful Championship manager hopping on board to sort out a shitshow whilst working for peanuts. They either risk it all and throw more money at the problem, hire a lower league manager with potential or pluck another Carlos from the continent and hope it pans out.

I've got my idea on who they'll go for. Can't find a bloody betting market for it though!

This isn’t good news imo.

Can see them getting a vile manager like pardew in and winning 10 or so on the bounce with the squad they have.

Carlos seemed like a decent bloke if abit of a busted flush!

I think we need our Photoshop lads to do a jobby here...

Ohh feck I've just described Carlos Clough.

* for the pedants) inherited a side miles clear at the top his: comparative tenure was actually 6 or 7thplace.

Fascinating. I keep hearing on RS that "with the squad we have, we should be promoted" from the pigs.
I saw them play last season and thought they were poor. I've seen us batter the fuck out of them at their own shithole and thought they weren't very good.
What are the elements of this squad that I am missing, because Hooper aside, I see nothing of any substance?

Take the point but Just imagine what someone like wilder could get out of that squad and it’s pretty worrying.

I’m not saying their squad should be automatically top two but

Hooper / Rhodes / fletcher are all capable of decent figures for goals in the league. Think hooper is potentially the best forward in the league - reminds me of what ched did for us in league 1 but at this level. That front line should be good enough to take games away from most sides in this division if used correctly.

Foristieri when not being an arsehole is an exciting player.

Lee / bannan and Hutchinson would improve most sides in the league (imo).

Westwood is in the top couple of keepers in the league (although he’s probably not hitting the heights of a 18m ago right now).

I fear they could have a good run if everything clicks.

However, they do lack team spirit imo and there’s internal issues around pay etc and forisieri sulking/fighting about not being the highest paid player a the club which has done more damage than I think people realise. Reminds me of when we’ve underperformed with a load of highly paid mercenaries

Are they on big wages?
Are they driving sports cars?
Were they once on the books of a Prem Team?
Have they played at least 10 Championship games before?

Then they're superior players to anyone else in the division.

Most of their players are on the wrong side of 30 - the downward spiral.

Fletcher is ok at one thing.... getting his head on hoofs into the box.

I've seen nothing to suggest that Hutchinson is anything more than a tackler - and a dodgy one at that.
Bannan is a journeyman, not really played many games at any club before the pigs - runs around a lot, has a worldy in him, but nothing special.
Wallace has had a middling career at championship level.
Rhodes hasn't done much for 3 years now - downward decline.

I really don't see what's so special about their squad - other than it's inflated.

Tynemouth Blade been on there years to browse more than anything. 17 posts in 8years is hardly bad. There are more of us over there than you would think.

Only pulling your leg and I mostly agreed with your comments about Clough.
Don't they give you the option of changing your description from "Sheffield Wednesday fan"?
Seems a bit presumptuous. Maybe that's why they've got so many?

Appreciate the effort in replying, we'll have to agree to disagree on the individuals.

The quoted sentence is crucial though. If you've got a snivelling shit who wants to be the top man then there is no collective team ethic there. You can isolate him (looks like that's the option they've taken) or ship him out (who really wants a cunt like that in the dressing room though?).
I don't think it's as simple as getting a new man in and he turns them around, the culture appears endemic (me first, club last) and that takes a full re-build to change the culture. They haven't got the funds to do it as I don't think they can shift enough of the wasters on to other sucker clubs.

You can't change it no.

I started off on there pretending to be a pig until a mate of mine recognised my user name and outed me.

Until today, i've not posted on it since 2014 apparently

Fine with agreeing to disagree.

Agree on the culture - what wilder has proved and I think most people understood is effort and spirit can go along way to achieving success - more than ‘talent’ alone . Everyone fighting for each other and no little amount of skill in the side is why we have achieved the results we have over the least year or so.

Wednesday issue is they have players on huge contracts - with no inclination to take a pay cut elsewhere. The exact reason we had to hold on to wasters for years before we could get rid. But it’s having an influence on the culture there and makes it hard to either get rid of players or sign new ones with that sort of cash drain. Either either that or take a huge loss cutting them free

Not saying it could’nt Be sorted out with the right manager - but he’s fighting with one had behind his back with these huge contracts handed out

Agree that overall I think it’s having a corrosive influence overall, not to mention impact of fans of high ticket prices to compensate for the extravagance

The only way this can be good news is if they bring in someone like Clough or Lambert.
