Mr McCabe

I've sat in there for a testimonial, and the only difference I found is it's much harder to vent your spleen at the referee! The sound, the atmosphere, the view - they're all the same. Of course it's different from the Kop, everywhere in the ground is different from the Kop but that doesn't mean that the feeling is any different! I am in full agreement that those players on that pitch don't deserve their wages for this week, and a few other weeks too. What some of those players earn in a week I'm lucky to get a in year, so of course I know where you're coming from. We don't know what goes off in the boardroom, and to be honest that's probably a good thing. We don't know what McCabe has said to Blackwell, Ellis or the team. He could be as frustrated as us, and flying off the handle at Blackwell - we simply don't know. What is pointless is calling for Blackwell's head - if we keep sacking managers there'll be nobody left to take on board! I feel the trouble with some fans, and this is NOT directed at anybody in particular, is that because we've had one season in the Premiership, they expect to be up there all the time. That's all well and good, and that's our ultimate aim, but these things don't happen overnight - my God I wish they would, but they don't.

Blackwell has lost the respect of the majority of fans, and it will take some doing to get that back, but everyone getting on McCabe's back will make no difference.

His only words to a member of my family, were along the lines of "we'll be up there, you mark my words, we'll be up there". I'm sure I put another post other than this one, but this is the only one I can find... I live to regret McCabe's words over Robson lol... but here you are: http://www.sheff-utd.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=101979&postcount=10

Its not about tasting one season in the prem and wanting more tho, yes as fans we have expectations but McCabe has built those expectations up the last two seasons much more than previous seasons. Look at the season we got promoted, no one expected it at the begining of the season.

I saw us in the premiership the time before last and it took us 9/10 years to get back up there, the team fell apart we were fighting to stay in the championship and i think alot of fans are scared and worried because they can see the same thing happening again.

If we dont get up this season, finacially we wont be in a good place, players will be sold, the attendances will drop again, and we will end up being back at square one.

a certain Mr Killgallon and talentless stand in captain who think these fans who at the end of the day pay their ridiculous wages know nowt.

The "talentless" stand in worked tirelessly for our cause all afternoon (and we'll ignore the fact he put in our only defence splitting pass of the day), before coming across at the final whistle to thank the fans for their bit to be met by a tirade of personal abuse....

If the other 10 had the same bollocks and commitment as him, then perhaps Saturday might have been slightly different.

I remember the days where the same passionate Blades "support" with the same money issues and concerns in their lives used to appreciate that, rather than abuse.

Where can i email Mr McCabe?

If you read, I've given you a suggestion as to this. If you put the same effort into the email as discovering how to find his address however, I fear you will be disappointed.

Sorry I must have missed it while wiping a tear from my eye, the only decent passes i saw were from Halford a player with talent and Hendrie an ex England international who did more with the ball in his 10mins or so than Montgomery, Howard and Quinn put together managed all game, it beggars belief that we can be so bad and yet have a couple of international players who can pass a ball sat pulling splinters out of their arses.

Totally agree about Halford and Hendrie, but if you missed Montys ball to Webber then you either weren't watching properly or were somewhat clouded. Possibly the most dangerous chance creating pass of the game. Unfortunately Webber took far too long to realise the good position he was in and control the ball.

Regardless of this, he should get the respect he earns when giving his all for the Blades cause in the face of adversity, something a lot of people could learn from.

Mr Hendrie also got the same tirade of abuse as Monty, despite being the one busting a gut and trying to make something happen for the last 10 minutes. Yet he's apparently the nasty little pixie with the attitude

I like Hendrie ive never had a bad word to say about him and i really can't see what he has done wrong in the past.

Monty - he's a tricky one for me,in some games he can be good, but in others he can be shocking. But yesterday he did ok, at least he looked like he was trying.

I'd play monty and hendrie in the middle, monty can run round gettin in peoples way and making challenges, hendrie can make passes and push forwards to create chances.

With cotts and quinn on the wings.

I dont get why Blackwell cant see that whatever formation he is trying to play, its not working.

I've sat next to the Director's Box. All that separates it from the hoi polloi is a small wooden wall. Hardly Fort Knox, so I'm sure that McCabe heard the crowd on Saturday.
Send him a letter, carefully thought out and polite like you'd hope to receive yourself, rather than "Dear Wanker" and you might be surprised. Try writing to him via the club's address.

Simple question.

Mr McCabe why did you give Mr Blackwell a contract extension ?

supplementry: do you think it was a mistake?

and if yer think he will give a straight answer yer must be on good gear !

I know from previous experience that I am correct in his approach. There are a few people on here who can confirm that.

Abuse him and he'll throw the letter away. Write to him in a sensible manner and you'll more often than not get a response. He's a very busy man and of course he can't deal with every single one the same way, but I know that he takes time out to deal with matters like these. Not many would.

Foxy is correct here. When I wrote McCabe a v critical (but polite and reasoned) letter several years back he got his PA to look up my phone no. and then phoned me personally at home, also inviting me to be his guest at a nearby away game where I could put my views across. He does take notice of what fans say, and responds when he can, providing there are genuine points being made rather than just abuse.

Chances are, people like McCabe, Blackwell, Rockett etc won't have e-mails such as those. Best guess I'd say would be to send to the secretary... or put in writing. Without trying to point to other message boards, didn't someone on BU say not long back that they'd written/e-mailed McCabe and got a response pretty quickly?

When I've emailed before, I've sent to the general SUFC email address marked 'for the attention of...' and then whoever goes through that address will pass (polite!) messages on to the person. When writing via snailmail the same system - to Bramall Lane but addressed to McCabe, and it's been passed on and responded to. I've always had a gut feeling that snailmail letters may be more likely to get a response than emails, but may be completely wrong!

Well for me McCabe answers the easy questions and sides steps the awkward ones...........even face to face !

Well, there's always going to be a limit to what info he gives someone, when I'm sure he knows that anything he says has a fair chance of ending up on a message board! But he's given me the impression of being franker than you'd perhaps expect when he can be. (How much do you expect him to say about transfer business etc when he'd only be giving away information to other clubs?) I don't agree with everything he does, but I'm sure he is a fan as well as a businessman, and that he's as peed off as anyone about results like saturday.

Yes totally agree with this I would love to see Hendrie in the middle with Monty

I think Blackwell is the only one that doesnt think Hendrie should be playing. He made a massive diffeence in the couple of 10 minute run out he has been given.

Why did he get him to warm-up get a big cheers from the fans then make him sit down for another 10 minures? Is it just to show he is the boss and show even more that he thinks the fans are wrong?

I would never pick Monty but I have to admit that against the pigs he was one of the better players (shows jusy how bad we were).
