Owls ticket allocation cream off

It didn't affect me and probably won't ever, but the thought of tickets being handed out freely to any 'somebody' who asks for them is very irritating.

I'm not against certain people being given the odd ticket, but they shouldn't take the piss with it. Certainly not when it's only a small ticket allocation, certainly not when it's a game like the Sheffield derby.

If they're going to do that then it should at least be with tickets that aren't part of the stated fans' allocation. I don't know if they do that, but if they announce 2,700 for sale and then give 300 away that's shocking.

The tickets weren't for general sale .you or anybody with an infinite number of points would have got them so why are you concerned about who used them or not ?

IF Maguire hadn't got them it would have been some corporate or business acquaintance of the chairman who let's face it can hand the tickets out how and where he wants

Didn't get a ticket from SUFC as I don't have enough points - haven't got a S/ T
- 250 mile round trip
Attend > 20 away games EVERY season & 10-15 @ t'Lane
NEVER missed a game I wanted / needed to attend - closest was Tottingham @ home in LC semi (got one in Nelson @ 19.30 on the night)
having (easily) attended the 1st (away) leg
Seen us win from all 4 sides of the Sty - all it needs is a bit of effort / creativity (& failed) attempts at 'diplomatic silence'
Go figure

I love seeing ex players sit with the away fans. It shows that they're more grounded and not up their own arses. 'Ooh, look at Me, I earn £60k a week, I demand a corporate ticket' doesn't wash with me.

Kyle Walker was in the away end at Stevenage in the play offs that time. That's great if you ask me

Some members of staff have clearly behaved disgracefully over the ticket allocation, somebody better report this to the FA. We should be looking at a six point deduction minimum as punishment.

I may be wrong and this is by no means gospel but I believe Box holders get 8/10 tickets, dependent on how many seats are in their box, for every away game and this is accounted for before the official away allocation is announced. Not sure how many boxes there are but would guess at 15 so potentially that's the 1st 135ish tickets.

Due to the corporate nature of the boxes i'd hazard a guess that it's very rare that they use their allocation so I assume these spares are available for the club to use how they see fit ie ex players, famous fans etc and quite often are given to the names on the waiting list if still availble.

I know a lad that has his own box. He's never mentioned this and hasn't been to an away game for years if memory serves me right.

If it is true then God, why have I been scrounging around for extra loyalty points:mad:

Of the 2,700 or so tickets allocated to Blades by Sheffield Wednesday, what percentage was creamed off for the directors, corporate bodies, players, and other hangers-on? Seemingly, Gary SInclair bought his own ticket, but Harry Maguire phoned up and got six(?). I ask, because I had 39,000 loyalty points but by Wednesday lunchtime of that week, they'd all gone.

What are the rules?

Harry Maguire just earned the club over £1m. They’re not gonna turn him down are they?

He also has a box at Hillsborough.

Re the thread title. I think we should have a mass debate in the car park about the cream off.

Upload a photo of yourself to see if we'd prefer a video of you or an ex Wednesday fan who played for us celebrating with the super Blades fans.

We get 4 tickets per game for the away games that’s for our box

Let's put it another way. If I caught Billy Sharp in bed with my Mrs. I would tuck him in and ask if he wanted a Hot Chocolate.

Harry Maguire earnt his loyalty points on the pitch turning out ~160 times in a blades shirt. And he was a youth player that came through the ranks so gets double brownie points.

Give him an egg custard with his hot chocolate and i’m already quivering

It was 2300 tickets wasn't it? I'm afraid that an element of "creaming off" as you call it, occurs in football and we'll never wipe it out. I'm trying to imagine how I'd feel if I was Kevin McCabe and I'd pumped millions into the club and a friend or sponsor asked me for some tickets for the game. Would I turn round and say, "how many loyalty points you got?" Probably not.

I do think it's poor form though when a significant portion of loyal supporters cannot get a ticket to watch the game, only to find out that "casual" or even "non" supporters are sitting in their seats. But it's been happening at all levels in the game for years. The FA Cup Final at Wembley being a prime example.

That answer is enough for me.

Here's mine, i'm not complaining and I got a ticket for hillsborough by placing myself on the waiting list.

Well Matthew, my previous answer might have been enough for you, but it seems that you have clearly misunderstood what I'm trying to say.

I will make it as clear for you as i can though I'm sure that with you being a Unitedite, you must be a bright fellow.

Here goes....

If Harry Maguire and any of his 'entourage' had less loyalty points than someone not in HMs party, then imo, that individual shouldn't have been given preference to obtain these tickets over someone who has got more points than them. That is irrespective of whether one of their party is an ex sufc player or not. If HM and all of his party have enough points each to qualify for a ticket in accordance with general selling rules and regulations of the club (the rule applied to the masses) then no issue. If even one of them hasn't, then the club is wrong to give that individual preference.

The club should be all about its loyal supporters, and loyalty should be encouraged. The club has got better in this area in recent years and i think on the whole they are pretty fair. What the club shouldn't be about and never has been as far as I'm concerned (Jessica Ennis stand for god sake) is attaching themselves or cosying themselves up to minor celebrities that might have had some involvement with the club in the past.

At sometime in the future, and I'm no longer working for the company that I do currently, I wouldn't expect to be able to walk into a building of theirs and que jump in front of people just because i happened to work for them previously. I wouldnt walk in and tell the people queing before me...' I used to work for these so I come before you - that's how it works apparently'.

So for clarity Matthew, my point was I think the original poster has a valid point and can feel aggreived if he or she had built up more loyalty points than someone else who only went before them because they are pally with an ex sufc player. Clearly as someone who got a ticket for the Blades v pigs match you don't get my point as the 'I'm alright jack' attitude kicks in.

By the way, you seem to be implying that I'm making my point as I somehow missed out on going to the game. I could have claimed either way on here to try and validate my point but I have no reason to lie and I haven't. I didn't go. I didn't want to go, and FYI I was offered a ticket by a mate to go for £50 but I told them that if I was offered £500 to go, i still wouldn't. Therefore, my point is about the loyalty points system being abused by the club and possible preferential treatment against loyal fans, not about whether little old me toddled off to the piggery or not. Have you now understood my point and is this answer clear and concise enough for you? Probably not. Fear not Matthew I won't be trying to interpret my points for you any further. I can't always make the daft understand.

But...

For Devil's Advocate's sake:
Let's say you know Joe. You know Joe from when you worked at Smyths Toystore. FIFA 18 is out at midnight and you really really want it. Joe still works at Smyths and is working tonight. If you call Joe and say, "I really want a copy of FIFA 18 at midnight but i've heard the queue is massive?"

Do you think Joe would say:
  1. Sorry, get to the back of the queue
  2. I'll reserve a copy at the till, just give your name
  3. Give me a buzz when you're outside and i'll let you in the staff entrance
Thing is, I know Joe as well, and I know he's not a dick, so I don't think it would be number 1.

Whether it is right or wrong, we live in a world where "it's not what you know, it's who you know". He would probably scan it through with staff discount for you too.

Thanks for your comprehensive response though. Loved it. :D

If by some miracle we ever get to a Champions League final, then prepared to gaze on in awe at the masters of ticket cream-offery. They usually manage to allocate about 30,000 of an 80,000 total to fans, the other 50,000 converted to Vaseline in order to lube up for the big annual UEFA-Corporate gangbang.

Your very welcome re the response. It helped pass a very boring journey back home on the train :)

You don't need to point out to me how the world works either fella. Since I left school many moons ago, I've been all around the world whilst being in the forces, industry, corporate entities, and senior management. I've got the drift of how the world works. But in that time I've always known right from wrong.

Re the Fifa scenario. Ffs. I'd rather pickle mi bollox. I sure as he'll wouldn't waste mi breath or time staying up to midnight. Ha ha. I'd go to the store 6 months later if the lad still wanted it. But then I've grown up see. :)

Logic would suggest that those who’ve served the club have some perks.

Exactly. Nearly every job in the country has some kind of perk attached to it. I think it's great that the likes of Brook, Maguire and Walker feel comfortable sitting with the fans, you wouldn't see it anywhere else. Petty jealousy rears its head again.

You probably would tbf.
