Interesting, glad we're in there, but you'd be hard pressed to visit Shaktar Donetsk's stadium. Not only is it in the Russian separatist controlled Donbas region of Ukraine, but it's been virtually destroyed in the war. I was lucky enough to visit it just a few days before the war started, and it was stunning. They now play in Kiev.

Done 12 of them, but am actually only counting the ones I've done with United so well down... but only for the moment lads.. only for the moment...

I'm 50 next birthday and before I head off to the great South Stand season ticket in the sky I want to be able to say I've seen United in Europe other than for friendlies...

Make my life to see the Blades at any of the Spanish or Italian grounds...

Must be the "oldest professional stadium" thing.
Must admit we probably don't appreciate the lane as much other fans do.

They've recently moved and share with FC Metalist 1925 Kharkiv now. The Donbass Arena as you say was somewhat damaged by artillery in 2014.

You can replicate the experience far closer to home. Just 40 minutes on tram!

Excellent thread. I've done 10 all with the blades so another 30 to go. Would love to do all 40 with the blades but doubt whether we'll ever play boca juniors or the stadium in Beijing?. I can't see us ever doing a tour of South Africa either!!.

What no Rustbucket? It can't be right, they were only telling themselves at the start of the season that they are part of the game's history etc etc

We really shouldn't be surprised that we are in there. England is the home of the game and the Lane is consistently rated as having one of the best atmospheres in the country on its day. The problem was that those days had started to become a distant memory until Wilder, Knill at al stuck a rocket up the arse of the place and got it back to its glorious best.

Even Gruntaliscious types such as Staton have openly said in the past that a fired up Lane has the best atmosphere of any of the local grounds. None of our neighbours can compete when we are on form, even those who (used to) enjoy a bounce.

Great to see Bramall Lane on there. Fulham is a bit of an odd one...

10 + 2 where I just did stadium tour (Munich and Barca). Favourite (apart from the obvious) is Stad Velodrome, though I liked it better before they put a roof on. Scariest was Donbass, where we saw the Spain v Portugal Euro2012 semi, the arena was good but the accommodation? 1 night in the plush Shakhtar Plaza, where we got the shits through dodgy food. The second night we slept in a brothel, has anybody else slept with their girlfriend in a brothel?

Only done 7 of these. Best of them (apart form BDTBL obviously) was the San Siro, where I've seen both Milan sides and the Italian national side play. Architecturally stunning stadium with steep stands and acoustics that make your hair stand on end.

Biggest disappointment was the Camp Nou. Impressive in stature but poor in atmosphere, even though the match I saw was Barça v Atletico Madrid which should have been on of the tastier matches of the season. You get the impression that the Clasico is the be all and end all for them, to the detriment of all other matches.

I'd dearly love to see a Boca - River superclasico at the Bombonera! Anyone on here had the pleasure?

I was thinking exactly the same. Then I noticed the title of the thread was '40 football stadiums to visit before you die...' and not 'visit and there's a good chance you'll die.' :D

Competlely agree. A life ambition and after 50 minutes at Wembley the other year, I thought that was it.

8 grounds on there for me, plus 2 stadium tours (which doesn't count). Very surprised to see us up there, but surprised to see Villa Park as well.
