from North Korea Talk

"My daughter chucked a strop on 80 minutes and went back to the car. Evidently she was listening to radio Sheffield as she said 'the main commentator (Giddings I assume) said a woman confronted Carlos and then that fûçking idiot united bloke (Keith Edwards - no doubt there) said she definitely should be at home putting the dinner on'. "

Nice that his daughter talks to him using that language but bye the bye, storm in a tea cup...how many times has a bloke heard 'get that shelf up', 'i have a puncture' , ' 'can you check my oil', 'trim the bush'......no pun intended. Some people have so little life they just get all bent out of shape.

I agree with Smirth ... if he did say such a thing, it's sexist and unacceptable. As unacceptable as Ron Atkinson's comments about a "big lazy nigger". Reading between the lines on what Jonathan Buchan said tonight on Radio Sheffield, the matter "will be dealt with" and Edwards is expected to explain himself on Radio Sheffield tomorrow evening.

You Sir,are a grade 1 idiot

Jeeze, do people have no sense of humour. I know lots of woman who would say far worse things about blokes than that. And they are just having a laugh....don't you people get it?

Beggars belief WHW,we have 2 posters having a go at Sir Keith for a throwaway lighthearted comment, get a life is my advice to these 2 sad people

They are:

-Angry after Sunday's result
-Confused by how a pub team made their superstars look like cockwombles
-Embarrassed by their 38 second bounce, collapsing cake, invisible kit and utterly shambolic 150th Anniversary
-Deeply worried at where their club is heading, because it ain't to the fucking PL at this rate

Under those circumstances displacement strategy kicks in, divert attention away from your problems and attack someone else. So what if Keith made a poorly judged joke, I wonder if that caller ever asks John Fucking Pearson about his racist seranading towsrds Leon Clarke many years ago?

Whoever you are pal I hope your wife burns your dinner tonight. So there you grade A cunt.

"Cockwombles" - I'm dying of laughter :D:D

And I know people who say far more sexist things than that, doesn't make it any less sexist.

It's not the worst thing in the world and I never said it was. It's poor judgment to say such things in commentary though.

I have a sense of humour, but if that's what he said then it really isn't funny, just boring and old.

I've not had a go, just pointed out it was a daft and sexist thing to say. It was.

And I have just pointed out you need to get a life,it's a light hearted throwaway comment a comment had Wednesday won, then we would never had heard a dicky bird about it .

Congratulations for helping to make a mountain out of a molehill

You may think you have a sense of humour but no, you actually don't. I take it you don't mix with too many woman these days as after a few Proseco's, you would literally be too offended. Smile, and laugh it off and the world would be a happier place, it is just banter and most woman love it and are actually better at it!

To be fair, it was a woman confronting the Wednesday manager at the time who got Terry Yorath to resign.

We've been smeared as women haters by the unclean since Ched was first arrested.

Nowt new.

The lunatics have finally taken over this place and made it acceptable to defend a blatantly sexist comment. Is it a big deal? Not really. Is it worse than Big Rons comments on ITV all that time ago? No. But Edwards has made himself look at proper twat. It has nothing to do with sense of humour or times being different. It was sexist to say it in the 70's and is the same now. Just look at the definition of sexism and it is discriminatory comments based on assumptions around someone's sex.

All the usual defence mechanisms are at play. It's banter, you need to get a sense of humour etc etc. Bollocks. Edwards needs to get on the radio and apologise for being an idiot in this case. Stick to your excellent football commentary and stay away from trying to be funny.

Exactly
Women talk about men in the same way,

"He comes in useful, he can reach the top of the private with the hedge strimmer".
"I could have put air in the tyres, petrol in the car but that's what I've got him for"
And many things they say to their mates are not particular flattering about their husbands/boyfriends, things that men wouldn't say about them.

Loose Women is on TV in the Mornings and it does FUCK ALL ELSE but slag men off from start to finish from what I can see. Could you imagine a programme being allowed on TV where four men sit there and ridicule women constantly.

There is at least three advertisements on TV showing a woman ditching a bloke at the alter, one of them climbs into a helicopter with another bloke...............Sexism, yes definitely, and the reason it's sexist is because if an advert showed a bloke dumping some woman at the alter and pissing off in a helicopter with his fancy piece it would be sexist, so why is it allowed the other way around.

The reason why it's allowed is because it's not a problem, the reason it's not a problem is because men don't care a toss about it.

It shouldn't be and you are right. So that makes it ok for a bloke to make sexist comments? What next, it's ok to be racist I have black friends?

I'm sure I read once that two wrongs don't make a right, but perhaps my sense of humour failed me that day.

My point is that nobody is wrong.

Yep, the lunatics have arrived and you might just be it. 'Twat' is certainly way over the mark. So is it sexist that i put the bins out, cut the grass, clear the gutters etc at my better halves request or should I just say fuck of you 'sexist twat' and get up them ladders yourself, you are perfectly capable aren't you? Actually no as she would be on Sheff Forum in an instant getting some other bloke round to do it!

It wasn't funny (not since the first dozen or so times it had been told), best thing at the time and since would've been to just ignore it.

Loose Women is on TV in the Mornings and it does FUCK ALL ELSE but slag men off from start to finish from what I can see. Could you imagine a programme being allowed on TV where four men sit there and ridicule women constantly.

Just that. And I think that gets far more viewers than a local football derby gets listeners.

In private it's a big so what, but on the radio it's different. Or are you missi, g that minor issue?

And my examples are on TV
My point is that only WOMEN give a damn about it, men don't care. And women only give a damn about it when there is another issue. Like the stupid bint that has complained about this because her football team lost. She doesn't give a damn about womankind, she has another issue.
Jokes are jokes, there are certain boundaries that shouldn't be crossed but clean harmless jokes don't cross the boundary IMO
