Just to follow up the above post: let's hope we can get JOC, Brooks etc on long term deals like we have with Freeman, Basham, Coutts and Fleck.In them circumstances Brooks might leave for the biggest fee ever paid to a championship club. If we do sell Brooks, which I certainly hope we don’t for a good few years yet, it should not be for a pittance. Whoever comes in for any of our players should be given a number so big that it makes their sphincter tighten by a good few notches, and with a huge sell-on clause too. I agree with Pinchy. Can we please have a conversation about Brooks which doesn't include morose self-pity about how quickly and how much we are going to sell him for. It really doesn't have to be that way.

I have no idea what's going to happen, but if you don't recognise that there's something different about this team, this manager and this era of this club, then you're not paying enough attention.
Enough to say that we have every reason to be confident and hold onto our best players.

I think we will keep him until at least the end of the season and hopefully longer. Despite us not spending big bucks in the window what we did do was keep hold of all our best players. We've just extended Flecks contract and I bet that's cost a lot of money given his age and form.

This lad, and the whole team to be fair, looked unfazed. The early goal did help, but to a man unfazed by the occasion.

We see how he goes until December and then offer a proper professional contract.

Many want the millions we have accrued from transfers etc. spent on reinforcements, which I accept, but really it should be used to improve contracts for our player who clearly can cut it in this league. For example the new Fleck deal.

A contract is an agreement between two or more parties. You can't unilaterally impose a minimum transfer fee clause. Why would a player or agent agree to such a huge and prohibitive (from his standpoint) sum?

One thing I was thinking about regarding the Rumour Mill forum: A couple of threads on there entitled 'No one', referencing our seemingly frustrating lack of transfer activity at the time.

Fair enough in context, but could this now be seen as an expression of confidence, rather than exasperation?

No-one! As in, we don't need any-chuffing-one, we already have an exceptional team to be proud of.
