I guess my anger is rooted in the fact that the 'pundits' will happily spout off for hours about whether Man City fans would rather win the Premiership or the Champions League..... but a real life game in a real life city (where approximately 50,000 fans watch football every two weeks) is just given the 'brush off'.

Happy to accept it might be me just being a tetchy old twat. But fuck anyone who earns a (good) living from football and who thinks that the Sheffield derby doesn't matter.

Our fans 'brush off' Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster and Chesterfield for fun - even when two of them were in the division above us last season!! Don't act all indignant when you do it yourselves Blades.

Then nationally there's a pecking order and we are way down it. There's a right side and a wrong side of the tracks and both Sheffield clubs are well over the wrong side until one of them can get promoted. Even then they, be it us or them, will be paupers with a temporary pass to the rich mens' club. That's who we are.

Tomorrow matters to us, that's what matters.

The fixation with ex pros and failed managers from the Premiership pontificating about how teams should be setup to beat teams that they failed to beat themselves is getting beyond a joke, but Savage is the worst. When he first started 606 every time someone disagreed with him his response was basically that he had played professionally to a good standard and so had to be right and the public who had been watching football for many years basically knew nothing.
Presumably someone told him that as the host of football talk show he wasn't going to have a very long career if he was only going to debate with other professionals who had played to his standard, which wasn't actually that brilliant. Hanson, Shearer etc. all had better careers, so on that basis in his mind they must know more than he does.
Must admit, I don't listen to 606 any more because of him. Talksport is miles better now on a Saturday afternoon and post match. Even the ex professionals don't seem quite so up themselves as they are on the BBC.

In general I think the best ones by far are the journalists turned hosts such as Murray, Saggers, Chapman, Fletcher, Danny Kelly etc. who are also fans and not just of Premiership clubs.
There are a few really poor ones though still of course. Can't stand Alan Green.
