James Maddison

MOM in my opinion. Fire in his belly too - just what you want on your side, let's be right.

The incident near the end could easily have been given as a penalty and he seemed to get a knock. Either way he wasted a few minutes in accordance with team plans. 6 minutes extra time was nowhere near enough for what went on, nor was 1 minute first half and I was surprised the ref even gave 6 minutes so Norwich were well rewarded for turning the game into a farce; they had the right tactics for the ref on the day, the tosser.

I have to mention that Wilder himself wasted a few minutes with his antics - daft.

Their keeper 3 minutes at least each half.

Their crowd over a minute when they kept the ball.

Our crowd 2 minutes with the bottles - tossers.

6? substitutions in all.

Medics on 2 maybe 3 times second half? Coutts caused one of those with an arm in the face off the ball - stupid and irresponsible- ref saw that and turned away btw.

Maybe 10 minutes would have covered it second half and 3 minutes first half.

Funny how we see things differently.

Maddison (23) looked really good on the ball to me, notwithstanding his cuntish antics.

Jerome (9) was a real handful for our defenders all afternoon and laid the ball off for the goal.

Wildschut (17) tore us apart the season before last playing for Wigan and is really good on the ball, big, strong, fast and hard to knock off it.

Stiepermann (18) just seemed to foul our players anytime he got near enough to them same as their no.19 who committed about a dozen fouls before he finally got booked. He alone, conceded enough fouls for 3 red cards IMO.

Sorry , he's an absolute wanker I'd give him and Gunn oscars for there if parts in the injured party ... good players don't dive around feigning injury , cheating and time wasting ..... Good players do their business on the pitch with the ball .... did you ever seen Paul Scholes resorting to these antics ?

Wankers like these are a cancer to the British game

The only antics I saw from him was him wanting to get on with the game. If you judge that as daft then I suggest you like time wasting and gamesmanship.
Now I do not know if that will result in some touchline ban but if the FA do act then they are not acting in the interest of the game, the spirit of the game or the people who are most important in the game - That is the supporters. I for one have said for years that there should be an official time keeper. Whilst it may be difficult in football surly there would be a way to define the basis of this?
Back to the spirit of the game and the ethics of a footballer. Well you look them up and see if you think time wasting tactics apply. They do not so the FA are ignoring the fact that these are not being adhered to.
Wilders defence (if called) is quite simple really. He was acting to try and uphold the ethics of the game.
Simple question, would you like to see more of the ball in play on the field?

Boo. We agree about the paying customer and supporter, take that as read.

We agree about ethics and the rules of the game. Bolton fans had loads to say about us in midweek as well don't forget.

We disagree about Wilder's actions. By doing what he did, which was about the 4th time he'd been out of his allowed area and it was the second time he'd crossed the Norwich manager's area too, he gave their outfit every reason to waste more time by dramatising it, complaining and making a fuss, demanding the ref talk to the 4th Official and inevitably getting him sent to the stand. The 4th Official had to tell him to behave himself a few times before that incident. The outcome was yet a further waste of a few minutes - exactly the opposite outcome that it was all about. Now it did rev up our team for a couple of minutes but that's all so the net effect was time wasted and playing right into the opposition's hands.

Wilder was on edge right from the off yesterday and we all know why. We were up against it with the 5th and 6th choice front two and maybe he is still smarting from the Transfer Window last day, who knows? Whatever, what he did was poor in a professional sense and he will know that.

I've just decided to move on as best as possible from yesterday. Still disappointed, but overall we should all be over the moon from the start. That doesn't help the feeling of unwarranted defeat yesterday but we'll play other teams like Norwich and win with 2 - 3 goals, its just we were too depleted as we all know.

Norwich can play like that if they want, but I'm proud to say we play in a fairer manner and our team cost less than one of their big money signings.

The way I look at it is that we've absolutely battered Norwich and they've beat us by the skin of their teeth. I'd be more concerned if we'd got absolutely outplayed and got away with a 1-0 defeat. If someone would have said to me we'd be 6th with 5 wins out of the first 8 games, I'd have bitten their hand off.

Let's just hope Billy, Leon and Clayton are somewhere near fit for next Sunday.

Yep let's all take it and bow to the institution then.
If you want change then you have to draw attention to what you want changed.
Now I know full well that CW had none of that in mind on Saturday but the more it happens then the more the FA will have reason to look at it.
What you term as CWs daft and unprofessional actions. I and 99.9% of Blades would term as passion and desire for our team and club not to be out done. I was at Bolton and we did very little gamesmanship compared to the flying elbows of Washing Machine and the constant play acting if their No8. So in other words they did more.
Thus team and squad gets on with things on the field and if the ball is I play and they are good enough to run a game down by taking it in to the corner then that is fine.
You may call CW daft all you want. To the99.9% of us he is a breath of fresh air and the saviour of our club.

Boo, I understand your emotion but I have supported and cherished Chris Wilder since he joined us as a player as a lad and he was one of my all time favourite players in both his spells with us. I went to a game at Halifax just because he was manager. I followed his progress and even his press conferences from time to time at Oxford and Northampton. Over the years there maybe a dozen ex-Blades who I have followed to that extent. I was amongst the first on here to suggest he replaced Adkins should United sack him. I love the man.

I still say Wilder acted daft and irresponsibly last Saturday. He played into Norwich's hands by wasting a few precious minutes and he may get a touchline ban for next Sunday.

WWF.
I know you think you are being logical and rational but you are not.
Sit down and shut up Mr Wilder is not the answer.
Perhaps you will write to him and point out he was daft?

After the delay for Wilder being sent to the stand we completely lost all shape and tempo, more than their keeper pissing about at goalkicks achieved. He's said himself he needs to learn lessons from Saturday's match and not get riled up so much. Criticism of Wilder here is valid; as much of a dick the ref was, Wilder played straight into Norwich's hands.

"Write to him"?! Chill Boo, it's a minor incident albeit a bit daft.

In my post I listed 13 minutes of wasted time and our own fans let us down too. The referee ran half the length of the pitch to retrieve a bottle and then over to the 4th Official -stupid ref stupid fan. Norwich players well chuffed you'd think but their centre half gave the ref a right rollocking and then picked the next one up himself and ranted at the ref to get the game moving, strange when they'd been timewasting so much. Fact is there were three bottles thrown on during the game and the third one despite the game having been slowed down previously.

I still love Wilder but not those bottle throwers.:(

Like I said the FA need to look at all incidents and then ask why they are happening. It is quite simple really. They are naive about these situations and could quite easily alter it so folk do not get so wound up. Look at the Wilder incident for example. He simply wants the game to resume quick. That corresponds to the ethics of football. If they decide to take action and ban him then they need to look at themselves.
Whilst the incident may have lead to more time lost. This was not the intention of CW and he could not foresee that happening. Therefore the action was not daft but carried out with good intention.

68% possession and their midfielder best player on the pitch?

Only in S2...

Err, excuse me, didn't we lose the game? Didnt our midfield struggle to go anywhere but sideways and under more pressure than for a year? The lad had the assist, stood out all game ( number 23 was mentioned a lot around us)and maybe would have earned a penalty on another day. Ive done my United ratings with one 8 (O'Connell) and Madison was better than him, maybe 8.5. maybe on 8 as well, Jack's is a bit generous. Its personal opinion of coutse.

It certainly is. What about the penalty we should have had every day of the week..

Thing is though rules are rules. Every player and manager is made very well aware pre-season of them and any changes.

Common sense isn't a law of the game. We all understand the frustration of Wilder second half and why he went for the ball, but he's not allowed in their technical area uninvited.

He got away with one first half where he needlessly went to get the ball off Farke when it was their throw early in the game. Obviously he was riled by what happened before the game.

I'm certainly not having a dig at Wilder but you have to take some things on the chin.

As it stands we've got away with Coutts getting a 3 game ban. Swings and roundabouts.
