Interesting insight into yesterday

I am quite surprised United weren't prepared to make a money bid for Cole at an earlier stage in the day. It seems like that might have got the deal over the line. Oh well.

Fascinating piece and good on United for allowing access.

Didn't read it as Stretford being the issue with Cole.

If you have a scout around, you can find out who the players Dad thinks is responsible for this. Furious isn't too strong a word.

You would think that Sinclair needs to be playing but his agent will probably say "stay with me and I'll make you rich" and at the moment he's been true to his word because his contract at Watford means he's now set up for live and doesn't need to play a single match.

The motivation for many youngsters seems to be fortune/ money above actually playing the game they suppose to love.
It was De Fanti who got him the deal at Watford. He has now changed agent to Aidy Ward. So he hasn't deliverered anything material yet as far as I can see. Bizarrely, he's prevented him from extra experience and putting him in the shop window until January.

Doesn't make sense. Would love to know what the agent has reported back to the clubs. And the players versions of events.

The report is great but the video is even better.

Watching Big Ben and the new Chief arrive - The Beard leaving - and Tufty playing pool and joking about his yellow teeth. Actually listening to him talking to Sinclair on the phone.

Magic.

Stuff like this enables people to see exactly how the Club works and destroys at a stroke so much of the made-up BS that appears on here.

Keep it coming.

Yep, nine and a half really interesting minutes. First behind the scenes stuff at the club that I've seen since the Warnock documentary in 04/05.

Wasnt Wilder told initially he was available on a free? At that point do you think he should have said, no no, we'll give you £200 grand?

Andy Cole had the same agent and I maý be wrong but think he does some work for the group. I know someone who had Stretford as their agent and met him a few times. Decent enough bloke at face value but when he got Rooney on his books all his own focus went in that direction.
Yh went back and re read the article earlier and was a bit harsh on his agent sounds a bit like Stretford was trying to get the deal sorted while Fleetwood wee trying to get more money

Why is that down to the agent surely its about what the parent club wants not the agent. They both wanted to come to us. Wilder has said no loan player will be guaranteed 1st team football at SUFC . The deals were agreed financially with the parent clubs last week . The agent from what I understand wanted 50 k more than what was agreed with the parent club
Agents always want the best deals for their players same as parent clubs it was the fact that the agent told us we couldn't have either of the 2 if we didn't pay what he wanted makes me think that the agent has tried to get more money out of us (might be wrong though)

Doesn't it say he wanted his fee doubling?

his time has since been occupied getting Rooney out of a custody suite and helping him come up with an explanation why he was driving a ridiculous looking woman home in her VW Beetle whilst his pregnant wife is abroad on holiday.

I think that article should be a mandatory read before people can register on the forum.

Some of the utter fucktards posting on Deadline Day and the morning after really do think the football world operates like Championship Manager. Interestingly not one has reared their head on this post...

Great read and worth referring back to as January gets closer...

Agreed - I'm as guilty as anyone of thinking lets just get some deals done. But that just shows we have no ideas what's going on.

I'm glad we aren't just bending over for agents etc to rob.

Wilder will have developed a reputation as a straight dealer and in future people won't try it on if they genuinely want to get a deal done.

Sadly players can't sign up with an agent who helps them gain a big contract and then just do their own thing when it suits.

Nothing either player could do but it really stinks when all you're talking about is letting a young player go out on loan and get valuable experience, and essentially do what he's paid to do.

Great article and video, well done to all involved. Good to see we appear to be in far better hands when it comes to negotiating than in recent years.

Only slight concern is the budget itself. Certainly no evidence of the millions some knowingly spouted would be spent. Maybe as well as those talking crap about our transfer policy from a negative standpoint taking a backseat, the propagandists can as well seeing as nothing has happened to prove their claims.

What contribution these lads will make, who knows for sure, but at least we can be confident they'll probably fit right in and give it their all.

I'm not having a go at you personally Danny04 but I think you would agree that's an excellent article in The Bleacher Report.

Exactly the type of article and insight we would hope to see from the local newspaper in fact.

Has The Star ever been given that type of access behind the scenes before?
Have they ever asked for it?
If they have, where were the insightful and fact-packed articles?
If they haven't asked for it, do you think they might be missing a trick?

It is excellent, I tweeted as such after reading it on holiday. The issue is I think, if they gave it us they'd have to consider Radio Sheff et al, and then you have a bunch of journalists milling around on the busiest day of the year. Easier, really, to give the access to an 'outsider'. I'm relatively comfortable with our coverage of SUFC 364 days a year, rather than one :D

Fair points. I bet you wish you'd asked the question though ;)

I wonder if the agent knew that our deadline day was being covered for an article and video. Perhaps he had planned to blame the deals collapsing on us and is now discovering that the two players' clubs are not at all happy after they have seen what actually happened.

Coming from somebody who sticks up for Pigs,i am taking no notice of anything you may say

Get back to salivating over Cheds injury,Pig Apologist

He hasn't stuck up for the Pigs he's pointed out facts about their ownership and also facts about Ched been injured most of last season.

Plus presumably they told them to keep it confidential until the day after whereas the Star and RS would have been tweeting our every move.

Refresh my memory, who is it you are sticking up for,the pig or revolution ?

Good point and if not United should certainly have mentioned it to him, to see if that suddenly greased the wheels of the stalling deal.
