Its been a good transfer window

Ok its been a bit quiet for us on deadline day (so far!) which can seem a bit disappointing considering we're a bit light up front, but all things considered I'm happy with how things have gone:

1. We haven't lost anyone of significance in the team (including Billy Sharp )

2. We've shifted a lot of dead wood out of the club reducing the wage bill/squad size

3. We've brought in some decent players without paying over the odds (including Ched Evans ) which will put us in good stead for the next window

4. There are always free agents we can bring in until January in an emergency (this is where a decent European/global scouting network would be useful mind)

5. Most importantly we've kept Chris Wilder when it was rumoured he could have gone to numerous other clubs

I think we should all sleep well tonight and look forward to the sodding international break being over!

At this very moment, our transfer window looks fine. However, if we wake up tomorrow and Billy Sharp is out for 3 months, will you be happy with our business? Disappointing that we couldn't even bring in a striker as back up for Sharp, disappointing when Wilder has gone on about getting a striker for weeks plus we all knew we needed one, to then only buy a centre back does seem to lack some real footballing nouse.

We have clearly made some very good signings in Stearman, Stevens, Baldock.

Got a couple who look the part in CCV and Heneghan.

Taken a few gambles in Ched, Thomas and Lundstram who all may/may not come good.

Oh and we kept Brooks.

It has been decent window but in not getting a striker or 2 we have shot ourselves in the foot and potentially scuppered a very good start to the season.

Given that we tried to get Cole and quina in today only for the respective clubs to back out on the deals how are united to be blamed for that, we've got a squad which is good enough to stay up, not to mention we haven't seen much of Nathan Thomas yet, with lavery injured he'll probably make the bench against Sunderland

It's been an ok window in the sense that we are stronger than we were going into it, and we've not had anyone buy our top talent.

But it's fallen short of what we needed, as Wilder clearly was in for some competition in midfield and up front to add to the defensive additions. I'm concerned that if Coutts, Fleck or Sharp get a significant injury we could be in trouble quickly.
