Lavery made several good runs throughout the game and was not picked out - he kept their backline honest with little to nothing to feed off all night. My opinion is he is worth a punt on Saturday but we do require better in the long run.

Evans needs some regular football and I think sending him out on loan to League 1 or 2 would be to our advantage
It is coming to something when we are going to miss Clarke and shows how poor our options are up there.
I find the mentality that's willing to give Evans all the time he needs to come right but ready to bomb Lundstram out of the club after similar showings, fascinating.

I don't agree on Lavery.Correct.
Also, I'm finding people are hugely over criticising Lavery now, in order to make Evans not look as bad. As I've said many a time, if everyone would treat Evans like any other player, fine. But they seem incapable of that, are making any excuse for him they've can.
'He's not match fit' is my favourite. Well, why has he been playing in MATCHES then? Even started last night. It's just an excuse to give him an extra couple of months to magically turn it around. It's not happening, lads.

The thing that frustrated me at the time of Evans' signing, and has since been justified, was that his 'punt' was INSTEAD of another striker rather than as well as. I don't think anyone believed that we didn't need a striker, so his signing suggests that he was in fact instead of us signing another, more proven, striker.
I was against his signing, yes, but I wouldn't have been anywhere near is much if we had signed another first choice striker, with Evans as an extra 'roll of the dice'. All his signing has done is fuel the conspiracy theories. I have too much respect for Wilder to believe it was his decision alone.
I thought all their defenders looked decent. I'd take any of those Leicester players on loan, even Musa.Evans looked off the pace. I thought Lavery was OK but not great. But to be fair to them both, they were up against one of the best centre halves in the country who we've all seen make Benteke look shit.

The truth is, we're still adapting to the standard of the championship and it's another step up again to the PL. Shakespeare got a good blend of players last night, plenty of experience and players with something to prove. He didn't make the mistake of underestimating us.

Exactly, as I said in another post, we'll have hardly had a chance to work with that side on the training ground, one making his debut, couple in unfamiliar roles and a couple who've barely played for us so far.Add to that we made 8 changes with predominantly L1 or untested players. They made 8 changes - with 8 more premiership quality players.
I'd take King without hesitation but it's all about opinions. Not sure about KIng in midfield but yeah, most of their players would have got in our side. Maguire, Gray and Chilwell particularly impressive and Slimani a handful up front. Musa was a bit speedboat with no driver but would be nice to have someone that quick in our ranks.
Correct.

My favourite is "he needs another pre season" having just had one for us and one for Chesterfield before last season.
For me Lavery put himself about and still has something to offer.....how long are we going to give Ched?....he is not of the required standard and if we are honest we all knew it....I think send him out on loan and get somebody else in...Sorry but this is the reality.Neither looked anywhere near good enough to play in the Championship.
At least Lavery tried and put a shift in. Too often looking for free kicks instead of the ball though. Also too slow in thought and making wrong decisions.
Evans was bloody awful. Looked like a sad sack. Hardly tried or closed down and couldn't hold the ball up for toffee. Everything about him was slow and lethargic.
We need two new strikers for me.
That side had the guy they signed from Brighton for 12m, musa and slimani who cost c20m each. Maguire who cost 17m, couple of centre mins/right backs that cost about 10m a pop. 2 England u21 youth internationals.
Reserve side is generous - they would survive in the prem and walk the championship.
We've just played a prem side and they've had a runout, still some way to go but writing anyone off after a stupid fucking cup game is not the way to go.
Agree Evans looked out of sorts tonight, hardly touched the ball
But it's his 1st game where he's started so has an excuse,
however it's fair to be concerned as it might not be until Xmas at the earliest when he starts firing.
