He's not the exception at City and they others on equally large wedges and expense accounts covering Scandinavia, Germany and Eastern Europe plus similar set ups in Africa and South America. I'd be very surprised if there is change from £10m for their scouting system.

We are not fishing in the same pond as City but I'm making the point (badly), that an international scouting network can't be run by Old Fred for petrol money and a free ticket every fortnight.

No it can't. But it can be run more cheaply than the way City do it.

There is another way to do it - get agents to come to you. Doesn't work as well but is cheaper at the outset.

No I suppose I don't have hard evidence but listening to her 'coming clean' her new evidence didn't sound particularly compelling either.

I take you your point about the accusations but there has already been an independent enquiry. It strikes me she didn't like the outcome of that and wants another go. If 'shit stirring' is too harsh then I get that, as your view is usually pretty considered.

Ideally you would have an all British squad, for the reasons Wilder highlights in the article. But surely value has to come first. It could take 3-4 years to build an all British squad of the same quality and cost as a squad including foreign players that only takes 1-2 years to build.
