Budget for incoming.

Just a thought but 'game changing investment' so few years ago was maybe £10 to £20 million - affordable

Today it's probably north of £50 million - unaffordable

So, need a new plan and 'idliketorogermoore' (only just got the pun - made me smile) says it is probably wait and see what the current team can do then add as weaknesses are exposed

Any details on the budget?

pommpey

Pommpey. You remind me of Donald Trump. You do not answer questions, you divert from any challenge and cry "fake" when in a spot.

Have another look at my posts about budget and you will see yourself indulging in all those three traits.

Maybe you have had a good day by your measures.

Didn't wilder say he had to do a presentation to our board on why the Kyle Walker and Harry Maguire money should be used on the team?

If they needed a presentation to understand that when you move into a higher division to succeed you need to spend a bit more money then they are more daft than I thought (or more likely tight).

So to sum up.

Money has been spent in large quantities on paying off shit sacked managers, paying off shit players contracts, paying shitloads in wages on shit players we couldnt/can't shift, and some other stuff.

We need to shift out an unwanted high earner or two but we have offers out on several and Wilder hopes there's incoming within the window.

Ironically if statements like "Substantial investment","Game changing" and "Think Liverpool" hadn't been made there wouldn't be any of this kerfuffle but they were and there is.

The reassuring bit of all this for me is a manager I believe in 100%. If anyone can make it 'appen it's Our Man Chris. And if he's 'appeh then I'm 'appeh.

Spot on mate. In Tufty we Trust!!

Sadly the people running our club and prospective potential big hitting signings want to see how we get on this season before trusting him at this level!

Do you know this for a fact mate,or just chucking out an opinion? Not saying your wrong, your guess is as good as anyones.

This could be the case, but I don't see it because I don't think it makes sense. What would be the point in waiting to see how he gets on, what are they going to do if he doesn't get on very well at this level, sack him?

I think we all know that would be the wrong thing to do.

Erm, not burden us with a squad of players on Championship wages whilst being back in League One perhaps????

So basically working on the negative rather than the positive.

Assuming we are going to get relegated and preparing for that instead of investing now and ensuring we don't get relegated...

You don't know, do you? Despite

have and I got a straight answer as you'd expect from a lifelong Blade and honest man. I've also asked two new managers about their budgets in their new job. I can tell you now that our budget is way,way more than the Adkins season in particular, last season too and maybe even Clough's budgets which were a gamble really. Of course the budget is growing.

now you're called out on all of those facts you claim to know, you're now deflecting it with comparisons with Trump and insults. If anything, Trump comes out with outlandish claims, doesn't answer questions and ignores or belittles those who have the temerity to counter his integrity. Just like you. Nice combover, Don.

Why not just admit, you made the whole lot up. You didn't speak to managers and you don't have the knowledge you claim to have. If you did, then you'd come out with the information, information you don't possess. In fact, despite you slavering me for not contacting McCabe, I doubt you have interacted with the messiah either. Its all horseshit, and you continue to uphold it despite the contrary.

And people call me 'sad'.

Next up: 'how many games have you been to' and 'The Royal Navy'. How funny are these subjects, eh? Eh?

pommpey

So, the 'invest when promoted', like 'game changing investment', was nothing more than comments to shut the critics up?

Thanks dude.

pommpey
FWIW, i reckon when McCabe made his famous "Game Changing Investment" speech, he thought £1.5m investment would probably be enough to get promoted. He also probably thought that a further £15m would be the "Game Changer" between him and the Prince when we went up. Little did he reckon that all £15-20m (guesstimate) would be spunked to get out of bloody league one, spent on journeymen and a succession of failed manager payoffs.

Edit: In fairness, £15m or so was worth a hell of a lot in player purchases 4 years ago than what it's worth these days.

Oh dear oh dear, it's like being stuck in perpetual revolving doors at Walsh's. We never get to the escalators let alone the deli food section to learn new tastes. Same ow'd chips with everything as long as it's fried.

So, you lied. Like McCabe, in fact. A liar, supported by a liar. Just like the White House, in fact. I'm glad you made that comparison. McCabe = Trump, and you = Sean Spicer.

Don't worry, WWF. Me and the other cynics won't use this episode to illustrate your more 'imaginative side' in future debates on here regarding Sheffield United. Oh, no.

Your 'work' is your cross to bear and ours from time to time.

Hard 'working' one trick pony stuck in pit tramlines perhaps, sentenced to be stuck in that dark world in the bowels of the earth on the one track forever.

"Liar" is a strong, one of the worst words to use in any company.

Wouldn't we have all spent our time better if you had not 'changed your mind' after 7 a.m. yesterday !! Hope you honour it this time.

You mean like you do when you have yet another of your flouncing "That's my last post on this site" grand exits?

For anyone who might think Pommpey is justified in calling me a liar, the post quoted below is what I said.

Pommps. Have you ever asked McCabe, been to a Fans Forum where he invites any question from the floor, written to him ( he does reply), studied the club accounts, have a view on how much KM has invested over the years, seen the Wilder team play recently?

I have and I got a straight answer as you'd expect from a lifelong Blade and honest man. I've also asked two new managers about their budgets in their new job. I can tell you now that our budget is way,way more than the Adkins season in particular, last season too and maybe even Clough's budgets which were a gamble really. Of course the budget is growing.

Another question. How much do you believe our player wage budget was last season? You must have a view to have these opinions. Simple question, straight answer please.

Stating the obvious becomes a 'lie' in Pommpey's Trump-like stratosphere.

Pompey asked you how much the budget was, you have declined to answer. Your statement implies you're privy to this info.

I'm not privy to anything. I piece together information from all available sources, not just red herrings which fit my agenda.

I also want the club to improve and progress and I'm not sure everyone on here is like minded.

I guess this confused him

The point I was making was that I take the trouble to dig out the information, not like Pommpey and others with a similar agenda, who wouldn't have a clue and make no effort to find out.

In any case it's a simple diversion of the debate, a red herring.

Fair enough- you could have avoided pages of arguments by simply stating what you found out :-)

The second part of your last paragraph suggests you have a very tenuous grasp of reality.

Your deflection and total waffle in response to having your clear claim of specific knowledge tenders you disingenuous and discredited. Unreliable.

If any poster responded to every diversion that Pommpey uses to avoid an even debate there would be no space left on the Forum. Diversions steer debate away from inconvenient facts or obstacles.

Simple question to anyone who wants to take part.

At this point in time do you think the championship investment has materialised ?

Yes or No...no reasons why, no debate necessary

No

We need a poll :)

It's not a diversion. The topic is 'Budget for Incoming'. I am talking about that budget when I say what I say and you say you know what the budget is, based upon this evidence you have collected. Which, it is very apparent you haven't and you don't know.

Now, either 'tell us' and reinforce your affirmation you know what you say you do, or don't tell us' in which we can assume you don't know and might need some foam and water playing on those pants of yours.

My guess is you made that proclamation to one-nil me and others and when called out about it, you are trying to make out I am in some way deflecting the debate. So:

Budget for Incoming. You say you know what it is. Please tell us.*

pommpey

*please note: any other answer away from a financial figure and providence to back it up might result in the fire brigade being called to your address. This includes any insults, 'how many games have you been to', 'Bigger Blade waffle' and 'jokes' about the Royal Navy.

I cannot state any more than I know and stated all that time ago and repeated above in posts 227 and 231.

You make things up -no "Bigger Blade Waffle" from me ever. Never joked about the Royal Navy and never would. BTW you are not a ' liar ', just mistaken and fairly random once you sit at your keyboard on a thread like this.

I mentioned the fact you don't go to games ( even when we play within a 100 miles of your home) merely to help prove the point that you do not invest time and effort into accumulating information and have little focus other than McCabe bashing and wild claims which always serve to undermine the club and the owners.

So. You 'don't know' then. Despite claiming 'you do know' with:

I mean, I might be mistaken and misinterpret things here ... but that kinda says to me that you spoke with managers, they told you their budgets, this seasons budget is considerably large and its set to get bigger. Maybe I am on completely the wrong track here but it seems consistent with the thread title and you seem to claim to have that key information. So, once again ... tell us.

Of course I am. Here's a random question for you. "Do you know the transfer budget this season?" Completely off topic, I know, but someone told me you might know.

I know. I must do better and go to games. Anyway, aside from that topic (which we can address in another thread, maybe) "Do you know the transfer budget for this season?" I think you might have mentioned you spoke to someone close to the club and you might know.
