Budget for incoming.

A few idiots may suggest that, no problem. The point I was making is that most people don't and that they are often presented with the classic aforementioned straw man argument.

Of course, it isn't straw man at all, suggesting people offer straw man arguments, to deflect the topic from our Chairman, who said one thing and did something else.

Not at all.

You don't debate, just ramble angrily over the same lines and think you're making some kind of substantial contribution.

You won't debate, just attack people on a personal level because clearly, you have nothing to offer.

He's gone bonkers. Firing off a message every minute, talking to himself.

It had to happen eventually especially after the wonderful season we had last time. It can't have been easy for him.

Do you have a problem yourself with how this forum works, Bert? I mean, I can see PeteBlade's daft, pointless responses. Clearly, you can't.

Shame.

I'm still working out what you offer.

Other than finding things to obsess over, even when we're Champions.

Um. New season has started, feller. It's 2017-18. We were Champions of those lot in the league below. This lot who we play now are of a higher standard. That's how it works, see?

I'm speechless.

Sat shaking my head in disbelief.

One of us needs the men in white coats.
You actually think we've spent more on new signings than we've received in sell on clauses? Really? If you don't think that, you're agreeing with me fella. If you do think that, then I would suggest humbly that you are incredibly mistaken.

Yes, I saw, first hand, much like I am doing this season. Enjoying it too.

I've finished with this thread, I'll leave you as an angry man, shouting at clouds, convinced you're "contributing".

Unfortunately football club finances are a bit more complicated than that and whilst we may have had a couple of windfalls we have also paid many promotion bonuses and increased wages commitments to many players.

A surplus on transfer dealings does not equate to money in the bank, in fact all but the very top clubs rely on such surpluses to stay afloat and even they sometimes have to sell players to raise cash.

Ooop. WARNING! WARNING! BIGGER BLADE ALERT! BIGGER BLADE ALERT! WARNING! WARNING!

And you have contributed ... nothing. No comments on the subject. Just slaver. as usual. Cheers Pete. See in another thread when you feel like a pop.

Did I ever make that claim? Keep yer straw men to yoursen. ;)

Look, Barney. You are obviously not reading this. What you say doesn't matter. What they think you say, matters. What they respond with, regardless of topic, is dead important, because if you are critical, you aren't a real Blade. It doesn't matter what you ask of them. They don't have to respond. It matters only that you don't agree with them, and therefore should not comment.

Yeah. That.

I get that people wish to defend the club, but the simple fact remains; we were given assurances that a lot of investment would take place upon reaching the championship. We've reached the championship, and so far we have not seen that level of investment and are currently not even in a deficit but a substantial surplus. Most sensible people would recognise people's concerns with this.

Looks pretty unequivocal to me.

Nowhere in your post have you referred to transfer dealings but you clearly state that "we are currently in surplus"

Barney, you have reverted to your old type. Not a pretty sight, you were doing so well.

I'm assuming you didn't bother reading the whole thread. :)

For some helpful context, there was also this further up...

Money received - at least £6m
Money spent - £2m at the most

I think we should have been investing roughly £5m this transfer window anyway, assuming no windfalls. Then the sell on money comes in and I would've expected us to invest that straight back in to the team too. So in my view we should have been spending circa £11m on the team this window. £5m net investment.

Currently - taking money spent vs money received, we are running at a profit of roughly £4m.

Oh! You're back!

How much was this budget you know about, please?

Post #61: I have and I got a straight answer as you'd expect from a lifelong Blade and honest man. I've also asked two new managers about their budgets in their new job. I can tell you now that our budget is way,way more than the Adkins season in particular, last season too and maybe even Clough's budgets which were a gamble really. Of course the budget is growing.

Can't be arsed reading through 11 pages, so apologies if those smarter than me have mentioned this but I think its obvious to most sensible observers that the people running the club are reluctant to start spending big transfer fees and large wages until we've shown we're a solid investment at this level and aren't going to go straight back down.

As much of a glass half full fan that I am, if I were to put my grown up hat on for a moment, that's a fair position to take.

It's shit, and pisses all over our chips, but a sad fact of life.

So, the 'invest when promoted', like 'game changing investment', was nothing more than comments to shut the critics up?

Thanks dude.

Simple question to anyone who wants to take part.

At this point in time do you think the championship investment has materialised ?

Yes or No...no reasons why, no debate necessary

No

So to sum up.

Money has been spent in large quantities on paying off shit sacked managers, paying off shit players contracts, paying shitloads in wages on shit players we couldnt/can't shift, and some other stuff.

We need to shift out an unwanted high earner or two but we have offers out on several and Wilder hopes there's incoming within the window.

Ironically if statements like "Substantial investment","Game changing" and "Think Liverpool" hadn't been made there wouldn't be any of this kerfuffle but they were and there is.

The reassuring bit of all this for me is a manager I believe in 100%. If anyone can make it 'appen it's Our Man Chris. And if he's 'appeh then I'm 'appeh.
