Linekar (obviously) & the others were waxing lyrical about him last night & I completely agree. He looks very comfortable in the premier league. Striding out of defense, picking forward passes at ease, dominating centre forwards, actually looks like he has a bit of pace nowadays! Future England defender for sure. Far cry away from the old 'Leadboots' jibe the dirties gave him a few seasons ago.

Unfortunately some on here were of the same opinion , not good enough for the step up according to some .
Well done Harry , great to see your progression , wishing you nothing but the best .
If he plays midweek , I know he'll get a good reception .

Harry should go above Gibson in the pecking order now Boro are in the Championship, but can't see him starting ahead of Cahill, Stones and Keane just yet.

He might get a debut against Malta in a few weeks as a sub.

Pleased for Harry and the way his career is going now.

I was very critical of his move to Hull and still feel that way.
Thought he could have stayed another year and still feel I was right about that because he played virtually no football in his first year at Hull and well, it was fucking Hull!

Annoyed again now as even though we have a sell in fee of just over £1m to benefit from, Hull have grossed at least £14m on the deal. And they didn't develop him. If Harry would have stayed a little longer we might have sold him for far more. He would still be where he is now.

Anyway. Get yer England call Harry and storm it, lad

One of the reasons Maguire made it is that he played over 100 games for us in the lower leagues learning his trade the hard way. Conversely this is why the likes of Mellis, Slew and Diego didn't, getting stupid notions put in their heads by agents and pushy parents instead.

And applied himself properly throughout.

He's a hardworking down to earth lad too.
See him regularly in our bookies, and an annual handshake and a natter every Christmas eve in the Ridgeway arms!

Hull developed him into Premier League footballer, he wouldn't have gone for £17m without proving himself at that level.

Unfortunately after he had proven his ability at League One level, there was nothing left for us to offer him and he was right to move on for the sake of his career.

We all knew Maguire is good enough to play at a higher division, he never looked fazed and had plenty of confidence for us and ofcourse he can tackle (which recently in the prem seems to be lacking from the highlights ha).
His career could have gone wrong under bruce, but he found a way to break into the team and salvage his career. Now he will reap the rewards with Leicester.

Proved me wrong. I didn't think he'd step up as a top Championship player, never mind Premier League.

Proper role model. Shows aspiring youngsters who are kinetically challenged, who might currently be getting the runaround by their black and pacey classmates that footballing intelligence always triumphs.

Hope so. I'll be there to see it :)

Always knew Harry was a class act and he would play for England. I rate him higher than Jags as a natural centre back. I have still yet to see him out muscled. The player I really wished would have stayed with us.

Deserves every success. Built his career the right way, getting games under his belt in each division and gradually developing and earning his next move.

Maguire and Keane will be England's centre half pairing eventually.

Our top scorer, wasn't he?

So we sold him.

Like Murphy. Our top scorer, wasn't he?

So we sold him.

Broke the mould last year with Sharp ...

I kind of think Wilder had summat to do with that

Murphy wanted to leave to get in the Scottish Euro squad, career on the up. (Optimism)
McGuire left because of many things, career on the up
Sharp stayed because we had just been promoted, he loves the Blades and he is in the last couple of years of his career.
Not sure Wilder would have made any difference in either case but as always the positives are in spite of McCabe, the negatives because of McCabe

I agree with everything you say but the difference with Maguire was that he was given a sustained run in the team. Week in week out.

Most of the others were in and out to be fair to them.

DCL and Ramsdale the 2 most recent didn't get a run of games. That's not being critical it's just where the first team was at any given time.
