There are many people on here, expecting to walk or do better then we currently are at this level, but unfortunately that's extremely unrealistic. Why? because it's not the same league as it was 6 years ago, it's not the same league where you can get James Beattie for £4 million. Its changed. It's now the league where it's an extension of the premier league, where teams (including us) have champions league winners (Jamal Blackman) where teams that get relegated from the Premier league aren't at risk of administration due to the TV rights and parachute payments from the Premier league, finally it's now a league where people would rather play for wolves, than Porto.

We have to get realistic, the owners can't invest money into the club for transfers due to the financial FairPlay rules, you can only spend want you gain through revenue, investment from the owners is a gift and not seen as revenue, while parachute payments are seen as revenue.

So what are we? Honestly, we are still of top league one standards, the step up is massive, with teams spending up to £80million on players, we can't expect to compete with them. There is a few on here who say the club isn't meeting Wilder's ambitions, that might be true, but realistically, even with the money through Walker's and Maguire's transfer, we can't expect to buy or attract enough or good enough players to make this team a challenging team for top half of the table. Also, it is very likely that revenue from the two transfers was absorbed straight into the club and has already been spent.

I'm not saying we're destined for relegation, but this league won't be easy, and we can't boss our way around it like we did in league one. Just stay hopefully.

UTB!!!
Have a good one.

I'm hoping we do a Huddersfield or Bournemouth, but it took them a while to bed in to the division and build a team that is capable to achieve promotion. It's all about survival this season and take it from there.

How the fuck are AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League then?

Complete nonsense I'm afraid.

And what are you talking about with Jamal Blackman? He has never even played in the Champions League.

Aren't Bournemouth owned by a Russian Billionaire?

Whilst we're owned by a Sheffield builder, our only route is to do it cheaply like we're doing. Not saying that's a good or bad thing but it's a fact.

Which scuppers the FFP argument. As I said ways around it.

The FFP bit.

What's Brentford revenue stream? Bristol City's? Wednesdays?

I am not sure I buy that, there are ways around it.

Okay, so firstly Brentford, they didn't sign anyone for a lot of money, they were a team that prided them on football science, taking players that were flops or unknown, for example Jota, was a relative unknown at Celta Vigo, and signed for Brentford on the cheap. Another example, is Andre Gray, who they signed from Luton developed and sold for £6 million, bringing in a big revenue, which they reinvested. Therefore, Brentford signed youngsters or unknowns very cheap and sold a few for a profit.

Sheffield Wednesday, at the start, didn't sign a lot of big named players, and didn't boss the league at all, nearly getting relegated, it wasn't till recently they've spent big, which hasn't worked out, as the spent money hoping to get to the premier league and now they haven't, which has put them into a difficult situation and the main reason why the players they've signed have only been on a free such as George Boyd.

Bristol City, really? haven't really achieved more than a relegation fights since promotion. But last season would have got relegated if it wasn't for Toby Abraham, so they are a team, who has perfectly used the loan system, which we've failed to use.

Call me daft but I think it's stretching it a bit to call a player a Champions League winner when they've never even played a single match in the competition.

It's hard to argue against it when they're dangling a winners medal in front of you. He's listed amongst the winners and has the medal to prove it.

But I agree. At one time you had to play a minimum of 10 games to get a League Champions medal. I think Chelsea gave medals to half a dozen players who couldn't manage 10 games between them.

I think anyone's previously unrealistic ambitions have been firmly dampened by the last two games where we've seen the opposing players looking considerably faster, stronger and more athletic.
Chris'll fix it though.

I don't give a monkey's about pushing for the PL........Not this season.
As long as we beat the likes of Wendy's, Leeds and Forest twice.
A win/lose/draw average will do for me.

When Chelsea won in 2012, they had a tonne of injuries and suspension, and had to turn to the youth team and Jamal Blackman for the final, and therefore has a Champions league winning medal.

in Bournemouth's case, they didn't spend big, they went to lower divisions, for example Harry Arter, was signed from Woking, and was pivotal in their promotion. Another example is Matt Ritche from Swindon. So maybe we need to look further down the leagues.

They signed cheap players, for example Matt Ritchie from Swindon and Harry Arter from Woking, they didn't use their russian money, they developed players, all down to Eddie Howe. Took them a few seasons to go up too.

Bournemouth still cheated though and broke the financial rules in their promotion season.....................
Remains to be seen whatever punishment is dealt them if they get relegated.........whatever happened to qpr on their return to the EFL.....they ended up putting in a legal challenge to the EFL fine imposed on them and i'm not sure it's been rsolved yet....probably swept under the carpet with them being a london club.
Last time i emailed the EFL to find out what punishment they were handing out to qpr, they couldn't comment as it was still in a legal process. I seem to remember they broke FFP or whatever it was called at the time by about £100 million.

Rules now changed . Whether the FL have the balls to actually do something is another matter.

It's all a joke. Fella who owns City, his brother owns Etihad Airways they fiddle it, Man Utd have tyre sponsors when in India?!?!?supposedly PSG gave Neymar his buyout clause so he was essentially a free agent when they signed him.

Bournmouth cheated FFP won promotion and were fined 3/4 of a Jordan Rhodes....

Bournemouth fined £7.6m for Financial Fair Play rule breach

i think a few clubs are gambling on the EFL not having the balls.
new season new rules, but the clubs that broke the rules previously must still be punished for the rule breaks at the time, or the rules and the EFL will have no credability at all.

That's a laugh. Hit them where it clearly doesn't hurt.

If Neymar was a free agent how come Barcelona banked £200m ?

Each sponsorship deal is now investigated to see if it's commercially realistic. Which is where the Pigs could come a cropper.

FFP is a joke. At least with no FFP it's all cards on the table. I don't even understand how some of the transactions are legal..

FIFA need to take a take a look at this and really get something put in place to sort it out because it's out of control now.

Think QPR's owner has more money than the FA and has threatened to take the case all the way, even to bankrupting the FA over it.

Stinks

Isn't the story this,The owners of PSG gave Neymar £200m to buyout his own contract? Essentially Neymar bought Neymar from
Barcelona and PSG signed an unattached player? I maybe wrong and it may not have ended up that way but I heard that for sure that was the supposed reason for Barca crying about it in Court
