Bar his kicking, MOM for me. Won us the game. Clarke was also immense. Bullied them and ran his socks off.

His kicking second half ... he booted it that high and it took the ball that long to come down that the Brentford centre halves looked genuinely nervous about getting their head on it.

Never seen a keeper kick it so high before

Was absolutely quality today. A couple of match winning saves. But let's not talk about his kicking.....

Yeah it went into orbit at times.

Kicking out of his hands and stationary off the deck was okay. It was when someone rolled it back to him that he struggled. Saying that, that first kick out of his hands that just made it past the 18 yard box was pretty bad.

But fuck it, he won us the game and looked commanding

Have to agree he was excellent. If he gets his kicking sorted out he is going to be some Goalkeeper. Moore better get well quickly if he wants his place back.
UTB

He kicked better than Bentley though, for some reason he wanted to play out even when we were putting them under pressure.

Kicking needs some improvement but comfortable gathering the ball and that one on one save was immense. Don't think Moore is a shoe in once he returns

Moore won't be playing much this season if Blackman keeps that level of performances up. Hell of a lot better than i was expecting him to be. Keep it up lad bright future ahead for him on today.

Looks suspect to me. The save that led to their ridiculous miss was stupid how he palmed it straight into the striker. Plus his kicking was atrocious. Got away with it today with some great saves but I see him becoming a one man blooper reel in the future.

Did you miss that big deflection before he made that save? I thought he did well to even save it

it was deflected.. world class save

Agree and...don't agree.

That save in the second half was world class. He didn't just try and spread himself but 'gave the Brentford player the eyes', in other words, he dictated where the ball was going. Also his height and presence must put the fear factor into opposing forwards trying to keep their eye on the ball.

However, and sorry to introduce a slightly negative note on what has been a great day, Clarke ran himself into the ground and was brave. But that was the problem. I thought for the last 20-25 minutes we were effectively down to ten men as Clarke was shattered and prone to commiting fouls. This left us no viable outlet up front. As Brentford pressed, we were resorting to punts upfield which a knackered Clarke had no chance of chasing down and - at this level - tends to be back down our throats very quickly. I thought a double substitution of Lavery and Brooks should have been made with 15 minutes left.

Thoughts?

Agree with the general, great but squiffy kicks, saying that though he did one that looked sliced but sort of bent 90 degrees mid air and turned into a good pass, so maybe it's a technique haha

Only gripe was he seemed a bit slow to react when they had an open goal, but he saved the original effort and it all worked out OK in the end so I'll let him off.

Great in the air.

Yep a double substitution were my thoughts at the time.

Yeah, he did run himself into the ground and probably should have been subbed, but I still think he played his part well, especially in the final 5 minutes of normal time. Still had the energy to bring it down and shield the ball.

Anyhow, on to Boro away. UTB

Played very well. Very confident and just what we needed Following Moore's injury his kicking is fine when off the floor it's just when it's out of his hands it goes up 300m in the air and drops 10m in front of him. I'd have liked him to play out from the back more that maybe more luck of options than anything else though can't say I noticed what I did notice is EVERY ball went to Clarke and that will become predictable. All in all though can't take away from the young lads debut. Kept a clean sheet and that's what he's paid to do

Thought Anthony Joshua had a great debut, yeah his kicking wasn't the best but playing at Chelsea how often does he actually kick long? Brentford's keeper never kicked long once all game, commanded the 18yrd box defence looked to have total confidence in him looks class to me, other than Clarke who I thought had his best game in the shirt today I thought he was MOM

Now here's a difficult choice. Do I want a keeper who commands his area, deals comfortably with crosses and makes great match winning saves. Or do I want Jonny Fucking Wilkinson in goal.

Dear oh dear...perhaps we should have selected the novice Eastwood as more than one genius suggested...
