It would be interesting to know whose offer he has turned down, and whether any of those went on to be successful at other clubs they bought, also whether he turned down offers from any nutjob people.

After last time when we were almost humiliated by Channel 4 and Bryan Robson, I'm glad he's being careful about who he talks to about selling the club.

Therefore there is no profit. I think perhaps he ought to have used surplus of income over expenditure for that operating division.

The club is given a substantial payment by the football league for having a Cat2 academy. Add the sponsorship money the academy attracts towards it's costs as being in the top 10 academies for producing players, then you have a part of the club that is self sufficient.
It can produce either players for our first team or sell players to generate funds for the first team.

What options are you offering. Do you know some Russian oligart prepared to pump 200m into the team fund . We have a chairman who has kept us solvent at a time when other clubs are drowning in debt. Who thinks there's thousands of benevolent investors circling round ready to blow millions on football. It's been asked above, so no harm in repeating - is there anyone who attended the forum last night who can report on what was discussed? What questions did Kev manage to offer a coherent response to? I attended last year's forum and found the whole affair a bit deflating. Kev's insistence that we must be the unluckiest club in existence was jaw-dropping, so I wondered if there were other gems, or even insights that might at least inform us of what we have to look forward to now that we're back in the Championship.

Absolutely nothing. My post was along the lines of there isn't just this lump of cash (profit) which wasn't being reinvested or utilised for the benefit of the club.

That's one of the reasons I stopped attending.

I'm not one of these KM bashers and have a huge amount of time for the bloke. However I got little out of the 3 or 4 fora I attended, and it did grate a little the emphasis on bad luck and general ignorance of poor decision making at times.

There was a show of hands to see who wanted a DVD of last season,it reminded me of an episode of Phoenix Nights to be honest,they said they will look into it and maybe produce a limited number

When you run a business it is common to break that business down into a set of Cost Centres. Each of those Centres runs their own set of accounts - P&L (profit and loss) and is effectively run as an independent business.

I ran Cost Centres with my own P&L accounts for years, and was rewarded for making and declaring profits, which helped to subsidise some of the loss-making parts of the business.

Hence, it is perfectly common to declare that one of your P&L Cost Centres made a profit.

Our Academy creates funds and raises our reputation as a successful professionally run club. Whether recruits go through to our team or raise funds and move on, they add to our reputation which helps us attract and keep the players that we want.

The combination of our Manager and our Academy is our way to a bright future. Long may they both continue.

Not sure I can be bothered going though. Back in the Championship. Over 25,000 excited, enthusiastic Blades. An excellent footballing team parading their talents on a superb playing surface.

I think I'll stay home and moan, whinge and bleat about the club I claim to support. Much more satisfactory. Pass me a crayon, would you?

Brooks has hardly played a first team game in anger, and let's be honest the chairman/owners are unlikely to have the time to pop down the academy and watch the games there when they barely get to watch the first team.

Given the speed at which football can move, and Kev's historical willingness to sell at too low a price simply to soften the coffers, I'd have thought he'd have made time to cast an eye over the latest talent we've produced. According to some, Brooks may not be here long (not my take you understand) so it would be in Kev's and the Blade's best interest if he at least had an idea of what the lad might be worth

It depends what you mean by successful.
Tuna man....has he been successful? If he gets them promoted some time then he will be deemed a success, but what is the long term prospect? He's already made it clear he's a businessman, and he sees them as a way to make money once in the premier league. And that's where it gets a bit foggy for me. Because he will then sell the club and make a profit....great. But who to? And it's this stage where it often goes down the shitter as the club is sold to some crook looking to either launder illegal monies from some foreign country, or to someone who is completely inept...Carson Yeung, the chicken family, and the Allam family spring to mind.

We have already been shown up a little by the CH4 sting, and there have been rumblings of potential suitors. We have the prince, who has made it clear he is there to make a profit on his investment. So he will want us up ASAP so he can sell his share back to Kev, or to some other soul looking to make a profit like he has.

As I see it, I would much rather have someone with a genuine love and affinity to the club as an owner. When it comes down to trust, I would feel much less concerned that we would be sold down the shitter and on the way to oblivion. The way football is just cannot continue forever, and like the banking collapse it will happen in football before long.

Not many people I know don't get things wrong sometimes .I bet no one regrets his choices more than McCabe himself .let's not forget he's a fan too.
