What are the targets given to Wilder this season and do you think we have a genuine chance of playoffs.

Q. It is reported that we have spent just £750k in total on transfer fees this summer - which is in line with budget of one of the smaller L1 clubs. How does this fit in with the promised investment once we got promoted to the Championship?

A. Hey, there's no bigger Blade than me.

This is part of the article:-

"Despite accepting they can not compete financially with the likes of Aston Villa and Middlesbrough, United have completed deals for seven players this summer with a maximum outlay of around £750,000."

I take it that it means we haven't paid more than 750.000 for any one player.

I won't, unfortunately, be able to attend tonight.

If the question hasn't been considered, can somebody ask Kev how much of the Walker/Maguire add-on fees will Chris Wilder have for transfers. And will this mean that any budget he had will be reduced due to this windfall. If I was there I'd be happy to put the question to Kev, so finger's crossed there's a Blade eager to get the answer to this question.

Good luck those in attendance.

I understand Deanos' point but I'm pretty sure that Stearman will have cost more than that alone? Basing my assumption on him being a recognised and proven Championship standard defender?

We must be amongst the smaller budgets in the league, so ambitions and expectations should be managed realistically. We don't want the fans getting uppity if we're in the bottom half, and we don't want Wilder sacked if we're not challenging...

I don't think anyone serious would want Wilder sacking even if we did struggle this season.

The greater risk would be Wilder leaving at the end of the season if he didn't feel he was being seriously backed to improve the squad.

Who's reported this ? Not seen it anywhere

I take it that doesn't include the fee we paid for Stearman ?

It doesn't say it anywhere

But if you add the add ons for Maguire, Walker and Murphy we are probably in profit

The will academy players play question should be asked of Wilder not McCabe or he'll be accused of sticking his nose I to playing matters.

It's Wilders decision and his only.

I used to go to these, but there is only so much ignorant bollocks promulgated by single-celled numpties that one pair of ears and an intelligent mind can process.

I think it's likely Kev will react to his audience on transfers as usual.

If audience is hinting we have spent too much on certain players....then he will retort that the fee is performance related and that we have paid nowhere near the figures mentioned inthe press.
If audience is suggesting we haven't spent enough, then he will respond along the lines that the total outlay for the player is significantly more than reported.

It's the way he rolls.

I think these are getting a bit long in the tooth. Nothing is really a revelation, or a surprise. It's just the same tired old quotes and topics.
Perhaps they should break the mould and move away from all the boring stuff that is never really answered and spice it up with gossip and piss taking.

Questions I'd ask: How relaxed are the club regarding the contracts of the likes of Fleck, Brooks and O'Connell? Is there a desire to get them tied down before the vultures start circling?
At the last fan forum, Mr McCabe stated that we would be looking at academy categorisation when back in the championship. Whether to invest to move to category one. Does he have any update on this, and can he explain rationale behind any decision?

"Now then Kev, this new kit.....It's fucking blue isn't it?!!"

Can someone please ask him whether any of the Maguire/Walker/Murphy money is going to be made available for Wilder to spend on the first team?

Third question of the night was ....

How long can we hold on to David Brooks and will we get £10m plus for the best young player I've seen at the Lane since 75 !! o_O

Any updates anywhere on the site ?

Club are pushing fans potential spend hugely.
Looking at Norwich model where 60% plus but St and match tickets online and spend in ground and shop via their mobiles.

Reps there from all parts of club including hotel, shop, commercial, academy ladies team et al.

Approached by several of these asking me to consider spending in hotel, booking club for parties/events etc. And to support u23's and ladies teams. Cannot fault effort of those staff and club focus commercially tonight. Was rather surprised by the obvious push new COO is behind tonight.

No surprises in either the questions or answers from fans and KM.

Someone's catching on at last.

The academy was "well in profit" according to McCabe in April 2016. Since then it has brought in around ten million pounds. We'd be mental to close it.It also provides us with a subsidised training ground for our first team. Not bad for one million pounds a year. It is a profit making part of the club which subsidises the loss making part of the club. From time to time, the players also enhance our first team.

So "it is a profit making part of the club" - If thats a direct quote from McCabe then it pretty much confirms none of the money goes back into the club, because if it did, it wouldn't be profit making, money made from selling players that gets spent isn't profit anymore.

Doesn't profit mean it produces more income than the cost to run, in its crudest sense?

Did anyone ask him whether in this football financial climate he'd taken the club as far as he could and whether it was time for him to sell up rather than keep going out with the begging bowl for new investors who are asked to pump money in for no control?

Fucks sake.
Club has been for sale for years. Just nobody has turned up who he feels he can trust to have the long term interests of the club at heart. Allied to that, the finances to take the club to that mythical next level.

Although I must admit I'm not sure what that next level is. If it's just the premier league then he does have the finances to support that.

You are a bit of a dickhead
Lets just give control of the club to a Tuna fisherman

It would be interesting to know whose offer he has turned down, and whether any of those went on to be successful at other clubs they bought, also whether he turned down offers from any nutjob people.

Gags aside, I think it's fair to ask whether the championship has moved onto a different financial level since the Prince first invested, and whether that's altered our plans at all.

We must be amongst the smaller budgets in the league, so ambitions and expectations should be managed realistically. We don't want the fans getting uppity if we're in the bottom half, and we don't want Wilder sacked if we're not challenging.

After all, our Kev's record on managerial decision making is patchy at best...

1 in 10 are a hit
9 in 10 are shit
