What isn't just you? I don't think we're doomed because we haven't got pace. Three quick and accurate passes can release a player into a dangerous area and can be harder to defend against than a ball over the top. They'll be times when we could do with someone fast but it won't be that often.

Im not sayig we are doomed at all, far from it! But i do think we should of brought one or two players attacking wise to add abit more threat up top, or to get the ball through to billy but thats just me! Roll on saturday i cant wait!!

But they don't have the speed of thought to be dangerous at a higher level though. I've seen plenty who can run faster than their opponents but if they haven't got the brain they stay in non-league.

Not saying they will all finish above us or that they are the only players with pace. I don't profess to know the strengths and weaknesses of every championship player. Just a list of those that stand out as being fast. I'm sure there are more and I'm sure there are teams that have fast players that will finish below us. Mark Little at Bolton for example is lightening quick but I still expect us to finish above them. We have a lot of good attributes in our team. Out and out pace is one are where we are arguably lacking though. Doesn't make us shit, just one element of our arsenal that might not be as strong as others.

Exactly why it's ignorant and foolish to proclaim we are doomed without more pace as was the opening post.

Granted, it would be great if we had 15 footballers who can all run really fast, as well as kick it well, head it well, read the game well, understand the game well, have good vision, good work ethic, right attitude...actual physical attributes are getting more important yes, but they are nothing without everything else. The most important being attitude.
Wrong attitude and the whole lot goes down the pan.

We have a team of footballers who are good. They might not be in the bracket of lightening fast when it comes to running, but fuck me they are hardly slow either. All of them are certainly quick enough for the new la Liga....it will be their quality in other areas that is the difference between success and failure.

We may yet bring someone in. It's probably the hardest to find, a forward with pace and technique who doesn't cost £10m, so in the short term we may have to go for a loan. We just don't have the money to go out and buy everyone we need to challenge for promotion in one close season, we have to build the team and unfortunately, that can take time.

Yup. Being able to control it, pass it and find space is what is needed.
