Got a bit of a tear in my eye for the poor little Morsy thread. Feel a bit guilty really. Sniff.

It's quite a feat considering we've a month left of the window, while the original rumoured Morsy interest continued past the initial window.

Take a bow everyone. I will remember this fondly as a thread I occasionally read.

"Lord Nelson, Lord Beaverbrook, Sir Winston Churchill, Sir Anthony Eden, Clement Attlee, Henry Cooper, Lady Diana, vi har slått dem alle sammen, vi har slått dem alle sammen! (we have beaten them all, we have beaten them all!). Morsy, can you hear me? Morsy ... your thread took a hell of a beating! Your thread took a hell of a beating!"
;)

Sometimes I fall asleep without brushing my teeth and I'll wake up at 4am for a piss and brush them then. Then I'll wake up properly at 7 and brush them again and looking back on it, it's not worth the toothpaste for a mere three hours of plaque buildup.

It's the association your semi-conscious mind is making between pissing and teeth / cleaning / brushes that interests me here. Nade ? LYDON ?

Wilder spoke last night of how well we did at the end of the August window last year and how the deal for Lafferty was so much better than the original one offered. Spoke of "keeping powder dry".
The guy who missed out 39 years ago is praying for Lenny

Can't believe that this thread had dropped to 6th in the rumours section so I thought I'd give it a bit of a boost

If we've got £1.5 mil floating about (and does that exclude the money we've bid for Len?), surely that CH or midfielder that Wilder has been keen to sign should see at least one of 'em arriving at United before Saturday? I know that plans don't go exactly to plan, so it might be that the squad we now have is the one that takes us through to January. My instincts tell me that we've bought well, but give it a few games and we'll see if the quality we expect has been confirmed.

We all want the players in for the new season. But remember these players aren't to be first choice starters. So it's. It imperative they arrive before end of the window.

If we've bid out £2million (Lenihan & Leonard) then that is a sign of intention. CW got some excellent deals in August and I'm guessing he's looking at the same.

If we have £500k - £1mil it allowes us to bring in an extra body which is great wheeling and dealing.

This is my pet hate, people order stuff and then f**k off out and expect some other poor tw*t to take the delivery !!
It's a great response to give, though I've not tried it yet. Too nice me, so what am I doing on here? (Rhetorical question no reply required, thank you).

Then perhaps you would be nice enough to give us your opinion on the Shrimpers midfield as it stands, without Lenny.

Michael Timlin - 32. Left sider, tenacious tackler who has a habit of getting red cards, even in friendly games. Lacking pace in FL1.
Dru Yearwood - 17. Right sider. Youth team product.Going to be the dogs bollocks if he carries on his development.
Michael Kightly - 31, Either sider. Just re-signed. I hope he still has some in the tank for a season.
Anthony Wordsworth -28. Very classy player who could play at Championship level if he applied himself for 46 games and didn't keep getting injured. Currently out injured. Clocked up 10 league goals last season.
Steven McLaughlin - 27. On his day one of the best left siders in FL1. Injury prone beyond belief unfortunately. Just returning from injury.
Jermaine McGlashan - 29. Tricky left sider. Incredible pace, but predominately an impact sub. Sometimes forgets the ball when he goes off at pace.
Jack Bridge - 21. Skillful youth team product but has fallen out with Brown, very bad move on his part.

That's about as nice as I can get it. Lenny does the 'doesn't get injured, still under 30, player of the year x 3' bit so we have a pretty big hole if he goes. I hope you weren't on a wind up after I've typed all this.

He's a defensive midfielder, a bit of a Carlton Palmer type, hard worker, good engine box to box, excellent tackler.

We played Basham as defensive midfield last season and he did well but Leonard would be an upgrade.

I assume Wilder has concerns that when we come up against the best teams we might struggle to get our passing game together and might come under pressure, especially away matches.

So Leonard could prove invaluable to protect the defense. He can get forward too so isn't totally defensive.

I think he probably has in mind that we will come up against some very good “number 10s” this season. We struggled early on to deal with Ricky Holmes last year and that situation could arise more meaning he may want to play the diamond more often to have someone man-mark the number 10 (the way Warnock used to use Monty at times). That still leaves Fleck and Coutts just wide of the most defensive midfielder (the role Basham played against Holmes).

Isn`t Jack Bridge on trial at Grimsby Town?

He certainly was, but there has been no further action there so far. I've always rated Russell Slade as a manager so hopefully he recognises talent and will take Jack on. He had trials with Bournemouth last season but it didn't happen for him. Very skilful ball player who's agent rates him more than Phil Brown does.

With all those injuries if we throw in a new physiotherapist table and a bag of bagels for the physio it should be a done deal.

Luckily, our training ground is a lot more modern that Roots Hall, so we're ok for Physio tables. Bagels probably wouldn't do it either. A local healthy eating company have collared that particular market with food provided before and after games. Now, if you offered up a box of 12 Krispy Kreme doughnuts for each home game then maybe that would be acceptable. It would to me anyway.

So it looks as if you're having one of those keyboard moments again. What should I substitute this time, two 'o's in the middle or an 'f' at the beginning?

I think in this case the 'o's have it!

(And if anyone knows how to delete unsent/unwanted attempts at replying - I'd be very, very grateful ;))
