Rovers see Sharp shooter Billy as the answer

By Colin Wood Last updated at 2:12 AM on 24th November 2008

Doncaster have their sights on Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp as they face up to the desperate need for goals to stand any chance of Championship survival.

They have scored just eight times in 18 League games - half as many as Nottingham Forest, who have taken their place at the bottom.

Manager Sean O'Driscoll is certainly looking for firepower and midfielder Brian Stock agreed about the urgent requirement.

Cant see him leaving.

cant see that happening TBH.

What Donny need is someone like Windass.

it would be bad to loose billy :(
but i could see him scoring a lot of goals at donny hed suit there style of play
any one know what money there talking?
any less than 2.5m n wed be stupid

Can't see him going either. Especially if Stokes has gone.

Apart from Beattie that would leave us Henderson (not scored many, or looks anything special) Webber (doesn't score enough). So Sharp is the only suitable partner for Beattie.

Stokes is apparently back in the squad.
I think it'd be good for him, they create chances and if he can get his confidence up. He's certainly not scoring for us at the moment (though he would have if it wasn't an OG on sat)

Wasn't it Sharp that set the goal up for Squinny?

Sharp always looks lively anyway. Definitely our second best striker.

Say's in the paper (Daily Star i think) that they've failed in a bid for him.
