United have allowed Billy Sharp to sign for Doncaster Rovers on loan.

The Sheffield-born striker, who has seen his Blades chances limited this season, has signed for South Yorkshire neighbours Rovers on loan for the remainder of the season.

Blades boss Kevin Blackwell said: "The deal was rushed through close to 5pm.

"Billy is a terrific lad, things haven't quite worked out but hopefully he will go there and score some goals and get his confidence back up."

i think it will be good for all concerned, Billy needed to be able to play to develop any level of confidence. At Donny he will be one of the first names on their team sheet so should be able to get his career going again.

Seems like madness to let a striker go out on loan when we have brought no cover in we were already paper thin. As it is on loan what is the point of rushing it through today before we have brought someone in even on loan.
