Kevin McCabe on David Brooks

There's a fans forum coming up on 4th August. I suggest that all those who take issue with what's been said put their grievances to McCabe directly.

.

Been there done that. all that will happen is what happened previously a lot of truisms about "no bigger Blade" "Premier League Ambitions" yadda yadda... ending up in a round of applause and pats on the back for Kev and threats and comments for those trying to ask the big questions such as "don't go then" or "go shopping on a Saturday if your not happy" from boozed up clappers.

I am posting this from poolside in the land of the free so logging off again before this thread ruins my holiday mood..

Stop with the links. Can I ask what question Kevin was answering?

Why? And context is in the article. Merely posted the quote as thought some would find it interesting. Seven pages so far suggests it is.

I think it's fair to say that every Utd gan knows the financial facts of life in football and most accept the realities of it all.

I won't have any issue with the Board at tbe Lane if an offer ca me in for any of our players and it was just too.good to turn down. It happens.

What does get my goat a bit is when we have the owner telling us all about the financial facts of football life and that if a big dog comes calling we will can't keep our most promising youngsters. It's not any potential future sale...it's the fact that McCabe has to speak about it in the first place. Yes...we know he will go if he's a real player...bit can our owners not publically admit this in the media. Talk about advertising the lad is potentially for sale. He shouldn't even be entertaining such talk and just batting it away with a 'there no bid in so nothing to talk about' comment.
He didn't, the journalist did.

He talked about Brooks and then tagged an old quote on to it to make his article look better.

Crikey, talk about putting him in the shop window already....

"Hello Premier League teams, we have a wonderful talent at our club that we know we won't be able to keep should any of you fancy him" ..

Cue a 20 team stampede all lumping 1m incentivised bids our way.

Pigs wouldn't sell any of their best players period. That's a fact.

Chansiri certainly wouldn't embarrass himself trotting this shite out that Kev has this afternoon.
Very interesting statement. Chansiri has spent a lot, but its a scatter gun approach which is still in its infancy. Pigs absolutely have to get promoted this season, but unfortunately for them they have a little issue...

Carlos and his dream machine said the other day that they are looking for centre halves but they basically can't pay the money because of Financial Fair play. So they will need to sell players. But who to sell? The likes or Fletcher and Forestieri probably won't command that much because, well, they're shit. Rhodes has just signed and they have 10 Mill to find and then its the midfielders, but if they sell them, they're fucked and they will need to replace them as well...

So the pigs don't really have the talent to sell unless they sell young Hirst but his Dad probably won't allow that...

He made it clear last year he wanted to leave. They told him he wasn't going anywhere.

Why are we assuming Brooks will do that anyway? Ramsdale didn't. DCL didn't. Adams sulked but he never said he was leaving and that was that.

We accepted their offers and said 'on yer bike'. Big difference.

I understand but don't think it makes one iota of difference.

Each club knows where the other is financially. If there are two or three clubs coming for him then it's bonanza time. If there is a big club amongst them then it's all got a few mor zeros on the end. Trouble with Maguire, DCL, even Walker and Naughton, Slew, there was only one club interested.

Watch how brilliant Mccabe looks if the Mancs, Spurs, Everton and Man City are in there competing.

KM knows Brooks value right now if it's just Everton. Maybe he'll get 20/25% sell-on clause and £5m if he's lucky. If other clubs are in there it's altogether different.

We had all this with Diego and most of us now would accept we should have ripped any hands off which were offering a 6 figure amount.

There some people getting a right load of sand in their Speedos for a lad our manager deemed not good enough for our squad a few month ago and who we're currently not selling.

Brooks will be sold before the fag end of August don't worry about us, all Mcabe is doing is managing our expectations.

An old quote? Where has it been before?

The subject was broached recently with Blades co-owner Kevin McCabe, when I asked him if last season’s promotion has eased the pressure a little in terms of losing players. “In many ways, yes,” he said. “But the truth is until you are back in the Premier League, if a Premier League club comes along and wants one of your players... if someone can give me the answer of how you keep them.

"The subject was broached recently" The reporter has simply added it to his Brooks story to add a bit of sensationalism.

It was not part of a conversation with McCabe about the spectacular progress that Brooks has made recently.

Well that's not the impression I got about those sales.

It's a column piece, not a story. And it was part of a conversation with McCabe about Brooks' progress over the summer.

Just more click bait

We need to stop quoting the Southampton model, especially the Walcott myth, when it comes to transfer dealings. He went for an initial fee of £5m plus add-ons. A couple of years later Arsenal then offered to convert the add-ons into a lump sum and Southampton accepted, meaning they got around £8m in total. About the same as we will get for Walker when the dust has settled.

OK, this is not to excuse United or McCabe, but lets deal with facts not myths.
