I keep meaning to send an email to the club about catering.

It's pretty incredible that it takes so long to deal with such a small number of customers.
Surely in this day and age there should be a better system to serve people quicker?
Can you imagine the time it would take if we sold decent grub ?

Very rarely buy anything at any football match as I'm perfectly capable of going for a couple of hours without a beer or some shit food.

EDIT - And why would we need to use our season tickets to pay anyway when we have contactless payment using a credit or debit card?

Heres the thing. Defend our club on a whole raft of issuess, selling shit players, selling mediocre players, selling good players, selling great players.
Defend our club on all the above re purchases.
Defend McCabe. Defend Wilder. Defend Knill.
Defend the academy. Defend Adidas kit.
BUT anyone defending ANYTHING regarding the FUCKING SHIT CATERING FROM CUNTSTICK PRODUCT TO CUNTSTICK MANAGEMENT OF IT TO CUNTSTICK STAFF IS PART OF THE CUNTING PROBLEM.
And that, ladies and gentlemen is CUNTING FACT.

Run that by me again ;)

There'll be many many folk on here with catering experience. And many without any. But we all know mass catering is not rocket science.

Quick service, a value product, money in the till. Simples. And if anybody suggests we can't do anything about it because it's contracted to Comp-Ass, I'd point them in the direction of the football management team who pay up contracts all the time for players who no longer perform or fit the bill.

Yes, recruitment will be an issue, but Comp-Ass will have plenty of other contracts where they can utilise their zero hours contract staff, so it shouldn't be much of an issue at all.

Pfffttt......

This doesn't address the quality of the shit on offer. Those microwaved sausage rolls look (and probably taste) like a limp dick. They make Greggs look like haute cuisine.

I'll defer to your culinary assessment on this one snooty , I'm usually rat arsed at half-time so I'll eat anything and think its oreight . If i can get served that is ;)

Free beer if losing at half time?

Why are there queue's for that piss water they pass off as lager, and why do people eat pie's with a fork :confused:

Urilagnia fetish I suspect. It's a short step from there to hardsports apparently. Hardsports being eating them pies, with or without a fork.

I tend to grab it from its foil casing and bite a chunk out of it. Then the boiling hot gravy runs down yer chin. That's just manners as far as I'm concerned.

Compass might be shit, but whoever did the catering for the Kell Brook fight were much, much worse.

You're not wrong. What made me laugh is that at football you can take a plastic bottle of pop into the stand but not a pint of beer. At the boxing you couldn't take in a plastic bottle but you could a pint.

Service was a joke. Tipping bottles into pint pots whilst wasting loads as you got half a pot of froth. Then you had others nicking bottles from the side of the bar whilst nobody did anything. Nearly 2 hours to get served too.

2 hours?! Wow!

We got in there about 7.30 and it took us 45 minutes.

Can't help but feel the Germans have beat us to the punch on this one.

One very interesting point from Allianz arena tour was use of Season tickets as a cashless system for drinks at half time. Can't help but feel this would encourage people to spend more at half time and ease congestion has something like this been considered?
As a frequent visitor to the Allianz, the cashless system works well and I would think it makes a lot of money for both the clubs that use it. You dont need a season ticket, but need to get a card which is free for use during that season, and load money onto it, of course if you only visit the stadium once their could be a few unspent euros on the card which of course is profit for the clubs. The card only has a fixed life time, so must be renewed. I believe it is possible to load the account online, although I have never done that.
For the 1860 games it is a different beer than Bayern, but the food system is the same. It does move the queues very quickly at the food counters.

Good point, well made, Sir

Surely its time to "think outside the box" and start letting people take their own beer into the ground.

SUFC Catering. Consistently CUNTING WANK since 1889.
Although they probably just did what the fuck they wanted until Health and Fucking Safety and PC cunting shit got dragged in.
Football-Get Pissed-Go to Match-Scream Shout Abuse At Fucking Opposition-Go to Pub After-Get More Pissed-Get Shit Take Out-Get Home SomeHow-ShagPartner-Puke-Sleep.

Agree with both points, where I work they had the cashless system where you could put money onto your ID badge to spend in the work canteen but you could also pay by card, so guess what, no one bothered with the ID and they have now made it card payment only.

If the service and products are so crap, why hasn't Compass lost money and therefore not bothered renewing the contract? If people are daft enough to continue to pay for a poor product it's unlikely to improve. However, I suppose you could say that with supporting United, we've been serviced some complete and utter shite over the years but we still come back for more!

There are literally dozens of take-out eateries/burger vans etc. near the Lane/London Road etc. so - if the in-house catering is so bad - why do people queue up for and use the in-house 'facilities'

Years ago, our-then chairman Reg Brealey, invited me down for a meet and I suggested KFC/McD outlets in the ground. No need for cooking facilities - the nearest branch could deliver pre-cooked stuff which we re-warmed and returned any unsold. Absolutely revolutionary back then but now clubs like Liverpool and Man. U have had these franchises for years.

45 mins is still appalling. That's missing an entire 12 round fight. . . Did you dare try and go back for another one?

You're absolutely right. Although I might not be able to have my top notch chicken wrap before the game if everyone finds out. Weirdly, those that don't like the club cuisine semi to clamour for a trotter and eyelid burger before going in from one of the vans rather than try anything else. Also strangely I've not seen any match day specials in any of the takeaways or restaurants- maybe they don't like footy fans very much

I think they might have to put buckets and bog roll under every seat if they were to be re-heating KFC or McD's.

Said it before and will say it again, we should boycott the catering at the Lane. The club must be aware of the situation, they've been told often enough and seem unwilling to do anything about it.. As you say, in this day and age there's no excuse for dishing up the overpriced fucking slop they do with equally appalling service.
I have been boycotting them for years ,my son was at the Kell Brook fight and the catering that night tipped off the scale for incompetence
he missed the entire George groves fight and the fight with the lad from Dronfield just queuing for one pint .

Strangely enough, I go for the football.

I don't give a shit if the catering is crap and I'd happily put up with it being far worse, if I'm seeing a good 'product' on the field.

It shouldn't take 20 minutes to buy a Mars buy or a cup of tea but it does, so don't have one!

FFS, first world problems or what.

Strangely enough so do I and haven't wasted a second of my life on catering at The Lane since we were last in the Prem.
Difference is I am interested in the issue hence posting on the thread.
You aren't,not sure why you bothered. Kinda contradicts your point.

I just wonder why supporters of a football team can get so het up about such a secondary issue. It's like buying car and being happy with the economy, performance and handling but spending all your time moaning that the ashtrays aren't very deep.

I take your point though, so I'll dip out on this thread and go back to being a clapper on the other more footie related threads.
