No. You're missing three vital points.

Firstly the lad wants to go. In fact he specifically wants to join the Blades. In the modern game that matters quite a lot. Wait for the transfer request.

Secondly, your chairman wears a ludicrous syrup.

Thirdly, your manager is orange.

The last two make it difficult to take you seriously.
I'm pretty sure their manager is Brown?

Crickey, all this action on this thread and a bit of abuse and I've missed it all. Never mind

Maybe, but true I would say. He was player of the season in a team that failed to make the playoffs in a poor league.
Yep we missed out when we should have nailed it, there ya go. I will live on the memory of sticking three past you lot at Bramall Lane, that was nice.

We know that Lenny wants to play at a higher level, all pro footballers should want to do that. He's never once mentioned Sheffield United as his preferred club. As for your other bollocks....well, nuff said eh?
Player of the season at Southend is hardly a big deal is it?
It is to us mate, it really is, and if he stays it will be again. We've never invited you in for him in the first place.

I'm surprised that Wilder hasn't bid higher than the reported £350k. If he really wants our man he will have to bid higher. I'm now very hopeful that we will have him for the season, and if we get first or second place at the end of it he can have promotion and a crack at the Championship with us. Somewhere there's another post about our ground from some tinpot local rag, but it's dated 2015 for Christ sake. We have a partner - British Land, all we need now is a new ground. We do have a cracking new Navy Fence round the land and we also have Beckham' old football dome rusting in our training ground car park. We are a cash light club, but Ron is continuing to find the dosh to keep us going. We're never going to be a huge outfit but the 7-8k of us that turn up every week are passionate about our team and that will do for me. This is far longer than I meant it to be, sorry about that. Get in!!

Ron Martin's got a few quid and fingers in many pies.

A finger in a pie must have a point ... the direction the finger is pointing in, but count me out.
Losing all those fingers must be why he can't grasp the situation ... or straighten his syrup?

I understand most of the points you are making and have a lot of respect for you guys.

The point has to be made though that nobody else has bid higher for your player, so it would seem that he is worth more to you than anybody else. I would like to think that we are not trying to rip you off, but moving a player up to a higher league is a gamble and there has to be enough left in the tank to make that gamble worthwhile.

There are so many ways to spin this, and most of them are already lurking within this thread. However, I really do get the fact that there are only two bidders, you and Millwall (they are still in the mix). I also really get the fact that Wilder doesn't want/can't pay what Ron may or may not want, and quite a few on here, and maybe Wilder, reckon £350k is a good price, that's fine. But for all of the banter about our chairman, he really does want Len to stay and by bringing in kightly, Turner and Hendrie he is backing Brown for a tilt at promotion. I thought that we would have to sell to fund the new kids but it doesn't now look that way. So if you don't bid again I, and the rest of the dodgy Blues geezers of Roots Hall will be ecstatic.

You are one seriously childish motherfucker, aren't you?

#TopBantz

No, I'm a frivolously childish motherfucker.

Unlike those of us suffering from B.I.C, I don't doff my cap to Southend Fucking United...

One or two of them are a bit full of themselves and need to be brought back to Earth.

I've not seen any mention from the player that he wants to go.

Not really liking some of the "bigger club" or similar comments from our supporters either. The Southend fans must think we are a right set of c**ts, leave that to our neighbours.

No. I don't allow my thoughts and expressions to be conditioned by what the Pigs do, think or say.

We are are a far bigger club than Southend. Massively so. It's your prerogative not to like whatever you wish.

As to the player wanting to go, he hasn't said it expressly but he's given hints, the biggest of which is his unsigned new contract....

Take a bit of pride in your own club, eh? I do.

What you said was entirely true. Don't be constrained by the cap-doffers or defined by "what the Pigs" say or don't say. I'm not and never will be. Some of us prefer a bit of pride in our own club to fawning all over Southend.

Pinchy is not representative of the vast majority of Blades. Most of whom have a personality, love banter, are not right up ourselves and appreciate comments and debate from other supporters.

Good luck for the season, remember there is only one SUFC and keep Leonard injury free until he signs for us on a precontract in January.

Good luck mate. It's all a gamble. I mean our club missed out on signing Diego fucking Maradonna and ended up with Alex Sabella (don't get me wrong he was good but not as good). Equally we sold Jordon Slew for something ridiculous. We'll see who knows who is right or wrong?

I am, without doubt full of myself at times. I'm also right up myself as well. They are some of the joys of being retired. That said, I now realise that I have so much more to learn from you before I can truly consider myself a disciple of Pinchy. I will try to improve, I promise:confused:
You really are setting yourself up...
Yeah, yeah, whatever. If you do get him I just won't come back on here...............................probably.

Been out all day and it's got a bit lively.

I have a lot of respect for Sheffield United. Proper club and proper fans. By that I mean fans that have stick by the club.

Just because your a big club doesn't mean that you will get a said player.

Bournemouth are insignificant in terms of history, but at this moment are bigger I'm respect of division. Times change and with the money involved in modern football so does that big club thing. Wolves are shelling out 15 million on a player in the same division as you. Would you consider yourselves bigger than them? If so why are you quibbling over a couple of 100k.

You may be a much bigger club in terms of history and gates but your not the draw that you think you are. You certainly don't pay top wages for the division and transfer fees.

Leonard gave an interview in the local rag this week saying he expects to stay at Southend. The chairman and the manager both expect him to stay. The fans want him to stay and if he has read this thread he will know that he is better off at Southend. After all according to your fans he will just be a bit part player.

If this lad is so good....why has nobody else met their asking price?

That's my question and I want it answering.

Bored of him now....would rather we just move on and either look elsewhere or make use of the academy if we need to replace injuries for the first team.

There's a lot of truth in that thread Mr Shrimp-pyjamas.

I particularly endorse everything you say about the size of the club. Unfortunately, that's not well understood by, I would say, the majority of our fans. They can't come to terms with the fact that little clubs like Bournemouth - who we've always thought of as 3rd or 4th division fodder - and not fit to lace our mighty boots - could possibly be a "bigger" club than us. But they are now and have been for a few years - not in terms of fan base - but in terms of MONEY and LEAGUE STATUS. And that's actually more important than the size of your average gate or how many times you've won whatever domestic trophy in the past 150 years.

As for Wolves...I'm sure their fans would consider them a much bigger and more successful club than us. I'm sure most of our fans would see that as being more equal. However, it's certainly not equal when it comes to splashing out money. As you say, Wolves will think nothing of spending £15M on a player at this level - we just cannot compete financially with that at the present time. In fact, when you look around the Championship, it's easy for us to go...

"We're a bigger club than them, We've got bigger gates than them, We've won the Cup more times than them, We've....

But the facts are, history counts for nothing -absolutely nothing. And we may be a big name, with an illustrious past and a big loyal fan base, but we are not on a level playing field in terms of finances with many of the clubs now at this level. And that gap has widened hugely since we were last at this level.

Despite all that, I expect the special blend of talented players, good management and teamwork, to carry us forward towards the top end of the Championship table - i.e. top 8 or 10. Because I do think we have that aspect of it right at least.

As to Mr Lenny...

I think he's opened his gob and said nowt as we say here in Yorkshire. His statement that "he expects to stay" is meaningless. Note, he didn't say, "I WANT to stay" he said "I expect to stay" - which is different. Very different actually.

He said it is all out of his hands - and so it is. I think Wilder is playing the waiting game because he can. We may go back in there with another bid around £500k depending on what other players become available over the next few weeks. But there's no rush on our part. If he doesn't join us now, but we still fancy signing him, our paltry offer of £350k will look an awful lot more tempting to you in January. That's the plan really.

Good luck for the coming season btw. It's nice to see clubs like Southend back in professional football after an absence and you did well and surprised a few folks last season. I hope you can build on it.

Good post mate and I agree with most of it apart from the paltry £350k bit obviously. Many thanks for the good wishes in the last para but I'm confused by the bit I've highlighted though. I know we have had some seasons where we have served up complete shite but I don't think we have ever had an absence from league football since we were formed in 1906. Colchester (our equivalent of Wednesday) have but that's because they have unhealthy relationships with sheep on a regular basis.

Can't be said enough.

Thankfully he scuttles off back under his rock when he gets corrected like a good little coward.

I must have got confused with Southport! How frightfully embarrassing. Soz about that Mr Rooter!

Total apathy towards this now. They need to get the deal done or walk away now. I'm bored of reading/hearing his name. It's got to a point where signing him would be significantly less exciting than it would have been a few weeks ago.

I'm not a fan of on-going transfer sagas. Still.....at least the bid and negotiations have been more or less confirmed. With the likes of Morsy and Burn we had hundreds of pages on players that we weren't even 100% sure we had made offers for.

As Wilder has said these things can drag on,it's the impatient fans that are the trouble if we continue chase Holmes & Leonard there must still be a chance of Signing them,Wilder has his way of working ,we should leave him to get on with it.We all want it now !! more patience required.

that's because adkins spent the rest of the season following the summer window speculating about burn, i don't recall seeing anything about him trying to get burn in again

There's no impatience from me. I'm not all that bothered about him. Can't recall seeing much of him playing to be honest and we could miss out on other targets messing around waiting for this to happen.

It seems apparent that the two clubs are apart in terms of their valuations of the player so either meet somewhere in the middle or call it quits. Negotiations with players and agents may be complicated but we can't even seem to get over the first and most simple hurdle with this (agreeing a fee). It's less about my impatience to see him sign and more about the time I think that is being wasted on it. Do a deal or move on.

If we can agree a fee and he wants to sign, great! They can finalise it on the last day of the window for all I care. Just do it or don't do it. Sick of seeing his name!

Don't think for one minute Wilder. Not got other irons in the fire, sometimes. used as a smoke screen with things going on elsewhere,St ear man turned up out of the blue don't be surprised at others,as I said patience
