Surely some names will start emerging soon. I don't imagine it will be long until we sign one.

Won't be Adam Smith though, who's surprisingly gone to Bristol Rovers.

Someone mentioned it could be a young prem keeper
wouldn't mind Blackman at Chelsea
Did well at Wycombe last season
 
I can't see a premiership club sending a youngster to be back up.
They are better sending him out on loan even lower down the pyramid to get some first team experience.

Bullet dodged there.

Freddie Woodman at Newcastle would be on my list: come in as backup but push for Moore's shirt.
 
Finding someone to come in and genuinely challenge an established keeper, in a successful team, must be a bit of a nightmare for all concerned. The club will want better than they already have, without having to pay through the nose. The incoming player will know it'll be a tough ask to unseat the established player so might not fancy the gamble and the existing keeper must be on tenterhooks and quite a bit of pressure as his place in the 1st 11 is under more direct pressure than any other position/player.

given he's fallen out of favour and hasn't played in their first team for a bit i wouldn't mind Adam Federici from bournemouth did well at Reading a few years ago
 
Unless it's a substantial upgrsde on Moore is there any point in shelling out.

Hopefully they won't have to play many games (admittedly we don't want to be left short)

Bit Getting someone on loan is pretty pointless for them too unless they/parent club are happy not to be guaranteed football?

Absolutely, hence my post above. This is when a solid, rising academy/u21's player is worth their weight in gold.
 

Can't remember when but think I read Wilder wanted an 'experienced' backup so maybe someone older?

The fact that we had Kelly and Tracey for so long when we did is ridiculous and I always find myself expecting to have 2 top keepers again like the good old days. We also had Kenny and Bennett together. Since then we've had some shite with the odd ok keeper thrown in. Maybe nostalgia but was it much better back in the day when I was a young chap?!
 
I'd be up for bringing in a Prem 3rd choice on loan as cover.

Lee Grant at Stoke
Paul Robinson at Burnley
Stuart Taylor at Southampton
Elliott/Woodman at Newcastle

All we need is solid cover who can step in if needed and can help Moore develop.
 
Tell you what, if we get a decent sum from Walker's transfer I wouldn't mind us investing in Connor Ripley.

Boro are intent on signing a quality GK, and one for the long term too. Sam Johnstone seems to be their first choice. That would mean Ripley has no immediate hope of first team football with them, and they could be open to selling.


Another option could be Classic Transfer Target Andy Lonergan, who's leaving Wolves. Not one for the future but a solid experienced type who'd probably become our first choice.

Given is an experienced stand in and ready made goalkeeping coach, 1 wage, 2 jobs, simply lovleh.
