another striker ????
Henderson played against Donny. And Stokes is almost a done deal apparently![]()
The Blades have agreed a deal to bring Sunderland striker Anthony Stokes to Bramall Lane on a 93 day loan deal.
Stokes, 20, a full Republic of Ireland international, is scheduled to go straight into the Blades squad for Sunday's first Steel City derby of the season against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
The Dublin-born forward began his career at Arsenal and played for their reserve team at the age of 15 before enjoying a prosperous loan stint with Falkirk, scoring 16 goals in 18 games.
In January 2007, Stokes moved to Sunderland for a fee of £2 million and revealed playing under Roy Keane had a major bearing on his decision to switch to the Stadium of Light.
Boss Kevin Blackwell is delighted to have landed his man and is sure Stokes will be a valuable asset to the Blades during a hectic forthcoming schedule:
"He will give us more options on the left hand side, especially as we have got a few injury niggles. He has also played in the hole and gives us great cover right across the frontline."
Stokes will join fellow Mackem Greg Halford, who is also on loan at the Lane
Fair enough, makes sense to have the extra cover in, especially if there are a few niggles around!!
Lightweight, you say...

No, and he was shite. The fact he looked like David Villa when he played in Scotland tells you a lot.I can’t for the life of me remember him playing for us. Did he play many games?
