Harry Maguire.....

This is getting boring.....do you know how the football industry works?

We offer to increase Maguires wage from £5K to up to £10K based on promotion making him our highest paid player and he has the prospect of yet another season in league 1, a league that he'd out grown and was holding back his developement

Or does Maguire go to the PL and accept nearly £20K a week with much better prospects at Hull?
Think about it. What would you do?

You could have held him to the final year of his contract, made him really unhappy probably had a downturn in form and shown the other players that we are hard taskmasters and keep players against their wishes. Also after keeping him to his contract he would then be worthless to the club and was never going to resign as we simply couldn't afford his wages even if we had been promoted to the Championship, so he was always going to leave unless we could have back to back promotions to the PL.

The truth of the matter that whilst we're in league 1 we'll struggle to keep any good players.
Any players that perform well will always attract interest from above unless we get promoted ourselves.

Also the last time I heard many Blades asking us to build a team around a defender was John Bradford.
Many said there's no way we'd show ambition to sign him. Many said if we signed him it would gaurantee promotion but McCabe wouldn't do it becuase he doesn't want promotion.

And we all know how bringing back our talisman and cult hero John The Beard Bradford went.

Well put kev...

stalling on his new contract, we all know what that means lol!

Too much common sense there.

When talking about the U18 players, it's impossible not to remember how good Harry was, when compared to the current youths?

Agree! But in some ways what Sheffsteel has done is cruel. He's shattered the world of someone who genuinely thought that we could grow our own players through the Academy, hold onto them, build a team around them that can compete at a good level in the league and live happily ever after.

The downside to him leaving and only having a year left is the fee will be much lower.

I will be surprised if he goes for more than £6m because of it

Hull will still hold sway here imo . If they leave things while January however then things will change .

Personally speaking , the Harry Maguire situation is one of the reasons I want to see Hull relegated . If they go down he'll be off and we'll get part of the transfer fee ....... every little bit helps . I'd rather Hull for geographical reasons too . Swansea a pain in the arse to get too .

Would prefer Hull to be relegated without a doubt - whether that gives us a windfall when HM leaves or not . Cant stand that bunch of tossers and would love to stuff them next year

17 million deal.

12 million up front. Further add-ons, such as appearances and International debut to eventually bring the total to 17 million.

Does anyone know what percentage we are due from this sale - Was it a 10% clause that we negotiated?

Also, do we get 10% of 17 million immediately, or only 10% of 12 million now, with the rest coming to us as the add-ons get ticked off over the next few years?

Good luck to him and many thanks for the cut. I have to say though, rubbish move. I would have held out for an Everton or a Spurs. Someone would have taken him eventually. Too good to ignore.

Where did you get this info from, fella?

Have you got a link?

Looks like no more than £1.3m for us. I was hoping for at least £2m.

Let's hope the 10% for Walker won't be cut in half to 5% as suggested somewhere.

1.3 million is not to be sniffed at, especially with the players that Mr wilder is bringing in.

BBC Radio Humberside understands a £12m fee with add-ons has been agreed and a medical has been completed.

Sheffield United will also profit as they agreed a sell-on clause with Hull - thought to be 10% of any fee over the £3m they got for Maguire, 24, in 2014.

£9million difference between the upfront fee and what we sold him for, so 10% of that is £900k. No idea about the add-ons.

With Levy playing hard ball over Walker, we might not be in for the big windfall we were hoping for.

The Maguire fee when we sold him to Hull was widely reported as between £2-£2.5m so I would imagine that BBC Radio Humberside's information is as reliable on the sell on clause. Pinchy will be along with his view on journalists but why anyone would want to share private contractual information with them I've no idea.

To be fair, Levy is a very shrewd operator and knows people will pay way over the odds for Walker, a now established England international. Don't be surprised if that valuation goes up.

Bad move both for Maguire and the top 6 ,he should be playing for one of them ,he is a far better player than ,Smalling ,Stones or even Lovren.
Possibly a move to a top six club was never on the table.

It is all ifs, buts and maybes.

For the lad himself it is a cracking move. Leicester showed they are a comfortable top ten side under their new manager, keeps him in the England thoughts and Leicester have the finances to pay big salaries. The lad has made a move that no doubt sets him up for life.

For the player i really can't see too many down sides at all.
