Oh I see what you mean. It was the only season I had a season ticket there. I was in BLUT from 1970 to 1977 and since then for most of the seasons I sit in the South Stand. In summer 1993 I decided to have a season in the Terraces for its last seasonEast side was for the mature and more sensible fans.
Joe Joe Joe Joe!
Had a great habit, after he'd put in a rather hefty (borderline bookable) challenge, of kneeling in front of the ref to re-tie bootlaces or fiddle with socks or shin pads which somehow made the ref more lenient on him as he was getting ticked off.
I`m still fairly sure it was Jimmy Armfield for the tackle on Gil Reece.Hughes also played half back for Blackpool and made that position his own at Liverpool. He did play that game but I'm not certain enough to say he made the tackle so I'm happy to agree to disagree.
Wonder what the black armbands were worn for that day?
If it was nowadays, it could be that the trainer's dog had died.
Always loved it when United wore them socks away from home, reminds me of Tommy McAlister for some reason, don't know wh
Has it?
Poor old Rover.
I'm going to have a respectful minute not posting and thinking of other dogs that may have passed away too......
First time I saw us wearing these socks was in the 1-0 defeat at Derby (McGovern) in the 1970 Watney Cup semi final. Still always remember John Barnwell's feint trick that I used quite often when I played footballAlways loved it when United wore them socks away from home, reminds me of Tommy McAlister for some reason, don't know why

Top of the league! Woody's corner near the end makes it 7 wins and 2 draws for the start of the season. I was there! The Leicester player is John Sjoberg who passed away in 2008
