Its been strongly rumoured that this will actually take place on the 12th July :)

Against who I wonder? There's a direct flight from Sheffield Doncaster to Alicante and Palma de Majorca on the 11th so that's a decent bet

Other flights to Spain that month include Reus, Malaga, Ibiza XD, Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria

If we are going to Marbella as rumours to suggest, Malaga, or Gibraltar would be much closer airports for you..... Daily flights to Malaga from Manchester / Birmingham airport. Maybe it's CF Malaga as they are only 30 mins away from Marbella but maybe a bit too high profile...

Malaga flights from East Midlands and Leeds/Bradford too. What other teams are likely flying into Malaga? Marbella FC I think is v low league standard??

The results for the informal fans poll can be seen as follows, with Spain being the clear favourite on the forum:

If the Blades went there for a friendly, where and against who would we like to go? (realistically ;) )

Should there be enough enthusiasm I might well contact the club to see if they'd be open to something like this being arranged

UTB

Alicante is easy to get to from East Midlands airport. It took me 55 minutes to drive there from BL after the Chessie game. Last night on the plane from Bristol the guardia civil arrested three Welsh idiots when the plane landed , all the rest of the passengers stood up and cheered the guardia as they took these fouled mouthed morons off the plane. Swearing at innocent people with young kids is still not acceptable thank goodness.

I would like Torrevieja as its 10 mins from my house and they used to get 2-3 k gates in the 3rd tier - Blades would love their ground !
My daughter lives in Villanartin.
Reckon it will be La Manga again, due to McCabe having his holiday home there.

That's a good shout. Reason I think it'll be a place on the list I gave earlier from Sheffield Doncaster is because it'll probably have something to do with our sponsors. That said for us flying from Manchester to the same place would be much cheaper

So shit if it's another representative 11 again at a training complex, rather than an actual team at their actual stadium.

Spanish sides won't have started pre-season.

Athletic Bilbao. Red and white stripes, industrial city, loyal supporters, great food. Plus they have a tradition that when a side visits their stadium for the first time, the visiting captain lays flowers at the bust of Pichichi, their greatest striker who died tragically young. Would love to see our current captain do that.
Yeah but they were formed by a Sunlund supporter.

It's gonna be Marbella.

Thomson flight 9/7-16/7 from Donny to Malaga for team.

Alpha rooms/airport club tie up!

Loads of East Mids flights to Malaga too for fans on all days in/out.

Happy days.

Now we're talkin'

It's Malaga! Well done to the board for organising this against a very good team

Can't help wonder if this thread and my emails had some influence, suspect not but that would make it quite a happy co incidence :)

I'm sure it was a huge influence on them, just like Chris Wilder said signing Ched was all his decision but really he had been swayed by FMBlade's weekly posts about his behind bars idol.

Looks like it's not at Malaga's stadium though. Referring to somewhere on a Spanish website as 'Coin' - any ideas??

Son Miix. Real Mallorca for me. My second team. Saw many great games there with Et'oo. Ibegaza. Luque. Tristan. Great times.

I saw them play Real Madrid at home with Beckham and Owen playing for Real, who won 1-0. Great, sunny, etc, but zero atmosphere due to about 12 away fans, and ultimately boring. I do love Palma though

Sorry to disappoint everyone ( well I'm disappointed) the game will be played at Coin, a small village around 25 miles away. Very small ground, looks really pants. :(

I know it's only a training game but 'we are big time now' we should be doing better? If the game had been at their stadium I think we would have took loads, very disappointed.

Completely agree, Bournemouth managed to get Real Madrid to come over and send a strong side whilst they were in the Championship FFS

Unless Wilder really thinks this arrangement is in the club's interest I have to say I'm disappointed at our off field diplomacy so to speak. We could have taken thousands over to their main stadium.

Still it's a start at least and something to build on. The flight tickets to Malaga are quite expensive for when it takes place I hope our sponsors can give discounts of sorts

You can get £50 return, if flying East Midlands - Malaga. It just depends what date the game is. *Just seen the other thread - ignore that*

I was hoping the game would be in Malaga. Less bothered about going now (if) it is in some little village.

Fixed it for you. They also charged £60 adults and £25 kids to get in. If that's what it takes to secure a deluxe friendly, then Scarborough is fine by me.

The ground itself looks dog rough so it makes you wonder what the playing surface is like, we don't want any injuries - that would be silly. Also it looks as though it only holds 2 or 3 hundred at the most (in one area) so if some Malaga fans fancy it then you mighnt not get in? Just a thought. Wonder if they will sell adv tickets?
I'm still disappointed though, really fancied a few games in Europe this pre season, typical United :/
