He's small and not especially pacey, but is a lovely passer. He's not a box to box player like Whiteman, more of a sitting midfielder who can get things going.

Broke into the first team at 17/18 but then lost his place. By all accounts he's a good lad though and needs first team football.
 
Not a surprise - he made his United debut against Rotherham when Evans was manager.

Reed made an impression on us all that night (as did others).

Some don't like Evans, but for me he seems a decent manager - perhaps 3rd/4th tier is his level. From a Blades perspective we have to hope that CW isn't.

I really liked Reed when he first appeared, and would liked to have seen him get more game time. However, we were in a position where we needed more developed players, and he ended up losing out. Given regular games, I think League Two will be great for him and help him fulfil his potential.
 
I'd like to see him go on a seasons loan, with a full season under his belt and I'm sure his value will rise tenfold.

A season long loan playing regulary will help him progress as it did for Naughton.
 
Not sure Mansfield is the right move for Reedy to make he can definitley play above league 2 level. A season long loan will do him the world of good like it has Ben Whiteman and like it will for Brooksey, 3 young lads that could be part of the first team in the coming years
 
Thought he was fantastic when he started. With a full season in league one or two he will be worth having back.
 
Highlights how much his career has stalled that we're looking to loan Reed out to a League 2 club, while Whiteman is expected to be loaned out in League 1. He's still very young, and hasn't had any major injuries, so hopefully he can use the opportunity for regular football to help him kick on – everything I've read from the U23 reports on here suggested he was consistently one of the better performers.
 
Needs game time.

He's a talented lad, lost count of the times I stood at Shirecliffe and had someone from the opponents ask who he was, shocked by his age.

He could have done with getting out somewhere sooner if we weren't gonna play him.

Be good to see if he continues to develop given the chance.

He's not even 20 years old and it's 'time for him to move on' before we even send him out on loan anywhere? Before we even see how he copes with regular football at senior level?

He's bulked up a lot, he's toughened up and he was the key player for the U23s last season. He's improved, it's just that he hasn't played in the first team.

A player can develop massively between 19-23, it would be daft to let him leave permanently at this stage.

Going on loan to a footballing side in L2 would be the most ideal option for him. Same with Brooks. Then things can be reassessed in January.
 
Reed is a really good footballer who needs game time, he just needs to develop other aspects of his game and he will easily have a career in football at League One, possibly Championship standard.

I personally think he would look class and take the piss in League Two without scoring too many goals but the work he'd do in starting attacks and creating great chances will be worth its weight in gold.

He'd be a great loan signing for you.
 
He's a good young lad with ability but needs a season in league 2 getting plenty of games to get his confidence up!!. Mansfield would be a good idea for him on a season long loan and then wilder can keep an eye on his progress and review towards the end of next season as to whether he's turned into the kind of player that wilder can utilise going forward.
 
You lot can have him mate, he's 19 and not even played one game for the England first team yet. Can't see him making it now as his career is coming to an end. He was the player of the year in the under 23's and shown a fantastic attitude, but that doesn't mean anything. He's a fantastic passer, and doesn't mind putting his foot in as well, but at 19 I just can't see him improving any more. You can have that Ben Whiteman back as well. He's well past it. Oh and add Regan Slater to that an all.

Think that's about the long and short of it Foxy. Definitely got a pass in him, and as you say, without playing regularly Reed will remain adrift and lose his way.

Hope for his sake that he accepts a new challenge, good luck to the fella!
 
Expected him to get a few games this season but the form of our midfield means he hasn't had a look-in. Needs to be playing regularly now so a loan seems like the best solution.

Reed needs to get some first team football. Great passer of the ball though - so I wouldnt let go of him yet. A season long loan would be a good way forward for him.
 
Let him go and get game time. Personally think he should have been playing L2 last seasons and he's highly unlikely to be playing for us next year.
Either loan him or even let him go for nothing with a buy back clause after 12-24 months. Would love to see him make it with us but he needs to be playing somewhere because he looked too good to not play professional football at some level.
 
Agree with most of the comments on here, let the lad go out for a season, and hopefully he can start every game and play 90 minutes, week in, week out, that is what he needs. No point going out on loan if it is just bench warming. He is a good footballer, great ball passer, reads a game well, but not an attacking goal scoring type. Would be an asset to any League 2 team without a doubt.
 
Nice footballer but sadly no strength and gets knocked out of any physical play, he has to hope he's a late developer and can grow and get much stronger.

When did you last see him play?

Because that is an area Reed has worked and improved upon this last season IMO
