Carruthers

This all sounds like Chinese whispers to me.

I reckon it's crap. He only signed 4 months ago... It takes time to settle anywhere.

I don't believe any of this. He's been with us five minutes and has played very well when he's come on.

I fully expect him to become a regular starter next season. He has a bright future with a progressive club. There's no way he would leave.

Hope he stays. I was surprised that given Duffy apparent fitness issues towards the end of the season he didn't start more games. He's clearly got the talent. Let's hope he's got the work-rate and concentration.

He should buy himself a railcard, just over 1 hour 40 minutes from Donny to Kings Cross he can commute

Spoke with him last night and he said that he's happy in Sheffield and signed a 4 year contract..

To be fair, I wouldn't expect him to tell a random fan in a pub if he was looking to leave!

If his missus does what to live further south then just live somewhere between Sheffield and MK such as a posh village in Leicestershire, it ain't hard is it! No wonder footballers have a reputation of being a bit thick!

He could always get one of these and commute

Thinking of hiring one with a pilot for Royal Ascot this year.

Bit worried that my top hat might blow off on route which would be quite embarrassing.

HH

hope so, cos he didn't look too happy sat on the bus
Come on mate, would you be happy sat on a bus travelling at 5mph with an hangover when you're used to driving Ferraris' at 90mph whilst pissing out the window? Different kettle of fish completely mate. :)

Look, basically if we can't have Samir Wilder will find someone his equal.
Chill out. What will be will be. :)

If he has asked for a move because his Mrs can't settle in Sheffield, I don't think CW would spend too long trying to persuade him to stay, no matter what his potential.

I really don't think that sort of request would get a great deal of sympathy from a manager, who's commuted to Northampton and Oxford. What's more if he was going in the summer, I'm fairly confident he wouldn't have come on as sub on Sunday.

Word tonight is he's asked for a move back down south as the Mrs cannot settle here, would say BS but have heard several different people saying this. Hope not.

I think this is hogwash. I think what is more likely is that Wilder is going to trade him for someone that we want who is playing for a Southern club. Wasn't Robinson disappointed to lose out on Carruthers when we signed him? Is there someone at Charlton that we fancy - a centre half maybe? Watch this space.

Carruthers was playing for MK Dons. I don't know if he lived in MK but if so then it's less than 2 hours from here. It can take you that to get from one side of London to the other.

It's that inbuilt sense of superiority that some seem to have I suppose. Mixing with the rough lot up north!!!
She needs to get a fucking grip and grow up if this is right. And he needs to have a word and tell her to put up or fuck off. I doubt very much she will seriously consider destroying her relationship with a potentially very wealthy footballer.
His career is but a few years, and she should have had some idea that the nature of his job is that he may end up moving about. If she doesn't like it then look for a bloke that has a more settled occupation. So deal with it, support him as I am sure he will be the main breadwinner and then when it's all done ey can move back south if they havent then realised it's actually better up here.

He's at a club going the right way, and a manager who can get the best from him. Be a bloody idiot to let one woman run the rule over something he will have worked for since he was a boy.
:D Hilarious!

The only thing on Wilder's mind on Sunday afternoon was winning and getting 100 points. He would've shown no sentiment towards who was going to be here next season. As it turns out Carruthers was instrumental in us winning the game.

Wilder will deal with the Carruthers issue of leaving / staying on another day.

Contacted my old schoolmate who is a Charlton fan about the Samir/ Holmes rumour. He replied with "Could be a factor if Karl is staying... there's a rumour that he's going off to pastures new!"

Hypothetical reasons why she might be finding it difficult to settle, other than shit shops or selfishness, even if this unsubstantiated rumour has anything to it:

Illness of friends or family elsewhere.

Declining old age of family elsewhere.

Sudden, debilitating absence of stuff she's grown up with and needs around her to be happy.

Bad history with Sheffield.

Employment opportunities elsewhere.

Doesn't like hills.

Doesn't like house.

Finds it colder than Bucks, and it fucks with her sciatica.

Wants to have children, but with her family close by.

Lives too far from her football club to be able to support them.

Can no longer pop out to play pool with her sister.

She and her mates don't drive, and the last time she tried travelling by train she reached the same conclusion as the rest of us and gave up.

Loved her old GP, thinks her new one is a sleaze-ball.

Is harassed by pig fans calling her a slut.

Dogshit on the pavement outside her house every day.

Just doesn't feel at home here, in exactly the same way we've all not felt at home in places we've been over the years.

+ 25,000,000 other possible reasons that we can only guess at.

Jeez, give the poor lass a break. The level of spiteful speculation on this thread is pisspoor.

Oh behave, no one is genuinely wishing her ill will. Thing is in football it's a short career, and as with any job its not all rosy.
I'd want to keep my missus happy too but a certain amount of disruption comes with the career and if you get involved with a footballer you have to accept that or accept it will affect his career and earnings.

Basic shit really. I wish him well whatever he decides to do.

Remember when Warnock wouldn't allow Paul Devlin to move to Sheffield (or something) because he moaned too much? Wanted to keep him as far away as possible.
That was Birmingham though I think, not exactly down south.

Hope he dunt guh 'cos he could be a good 'un.

This isn't as easy for Charlton as it was in January the finances have changed massively. Then he was a league 1 player at the end of his contract now he's a championship player on a 4 year contract
We only got him in January cos he was at the end of his contract if he had 4 years left mk would have wanted 1 to 2 mill for him, Robinson has already said in his opinion he is the best if not one of the best midfielders outside the championship what does this make him worth.
Then his contract when he came to us he would have had an increase and he would have increases in his contact for promotion he could be on double what he was on back in January, for this transfer to happen the club would have to do him a massive favour and he would probably have to walk away from a small fortune
