Channel 5 Coverage

I read somewhere all the production team are West Ham fans. Very professional attitude to covering football, let your own personal supporter views decide on editorial content. I bet if we had been relegated yesterday we would have had more coverage
I'd love to know how someone has actually found this out. Is it because Sunset+Vine have got offices in that London so they must be West Ham?

I'm not proud of this but got involved in a twitter spat with George Riley, he really is a dislikable human being. At least we will have more coverage in the Championship next season, season after that it's Match of the Day!

Me too, all i got was im angry when i called him out on his sarcasim. I just said i was embarrassed for him, which he didnt reply.

Outrageous.
DOES HE KNOW WHO YOU ARE?
:o

Top interviews with the likes of Deano & Wilder. Giving the people what they want and that bag of wind .......

Worth noting he seems to be good friends with Reverend and the Makers. Enough said if the McLure's are your mates.

My effort below...

Good morning,

After watching my team Sheffield United not win the league (because we had already done this 2 matches before) but get to 100 points yesterday dinner, i sat back last night hoping to watch some highlights of the match and the celebrations after, on the football on 5 goal rush.

Wow was i wrong, after the first half of the show which was a love fest and all things Bolton Wanderers, i carried on waiting to be then confronted by the play off hopefuls and relegation battle.

Surely the show was leaving the best team in the league till last (stats dont lie, which i will go in depth more later). Again was i wrong. In the middle of all the teams that have nothing to play for was the league winners.

Having listened how Bolton would surely go on to bigger and better things and be looking to aim for the playoffs next season with there crowds etc, i expected at least a few good comments about sufc, again wrong. 'Well done on 100 points they'll try not to get relegated' or something to that effect. Now if we look at the league table and stats I think your presenter or script writer may need to be fired!

So to the stats:
Sufc are 12 points ahead of Bolton in second.
Sufc top goalscorers in all 4 leagues.
Sharp top in all 4 leagues 30goals.
Avg attendance sufc 21,892
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Bwfc 14,934.
Sufc won the league with 100 pts scoring 3 goals in all last 4 matches.
5 players in efl team of year.
Jake wright unbeaten all season.

Now thats a few for you, im sure you will have someone who can get the full stats on why we are deserving of been champions of league one by such a margin. If not their is a small thing called google.

By not giving Sufc a fair appraisal on your show, you have just shown utter contempt and disregard for Sufc, Chris Wilder, the players and the fans. They have worked hard all season playing beautiful football and won the league by a country mile, to get a 10 second mention.

I hope you will address the issue. Not mentioning the above stats, the fact SUFC collected the trophy infront of 31,000 fans yesterday (the largest in league one all season) is nothing more than embarrasing.

Dear Spadge

I write to protest, the strongest terms possible, at the outrageous comment made in your summary of the stats for the Season just gone for Sheffield United. I believe that it is shoddy research to place on a public forum that the Blades were a mere 12 points ahead of second placed Bolton Wanderers in the race for the 2017 League One Championship.
Please get your calculator back and and compute the angle at which your head should hang in shame whilst you acknowledge that the Blades were a full 14 (FOURTEEN) points ahead of the one dimensional Trotters.

I hope you address this issue and understand how upset this sort of shoddy posting makes me and my fellow supporters.

Other than that - a good post, mate :)

That bearded twat fronting their "coverage"?

They even had the barefaced cheek to suggest that Bolton should be looking to push for the top 6 next season or words to that effect. Honestly you couldn't fucking make it up.
They've already done us for weeks given we've been up and champions for weeks. Put simply, we were not the biggest on the billing yesterday because Bolton had promotion to play for ffs.

Why people are getting upset over this baffles me. We had our time in the spotlight weeks ago.
Not once all season have United had more than 90 seconds of coverage.
FACT.

I don't remember us getting 20 minutes of anything after either the Northampton, Bradford (no show), MK Dons or yesterday. Bolton rightly got their day in the sun yesterday but we have been shown little if any respect.

Not been shown any respect from the time the show first aired, nevermind this season.

I have to agree that the coverage on Channel 5 is rather poor to put it mildly but is it just me or does anyone else get the feeling there has been a media blackout at the weekend? I have watched bulletins on Look (Leeds) North and YTV's (Leeds) Calender for local news and seen Zero, Zilch, Nada and fuck all about United other than the scorelines of local teams in League One. Hardly gets a mention on the Radio pig website either' in fact there is more and better coverage by The Stir believe it or not. I have to ask the question have SUFC put any restrictions on certain media outlets since last weeks Ched story leak?

To be fair it goes back further than this week though, so I don't think it is down to Ched at all.

I wasn't meaning Channel 5 more the BBC than anyone else I expect nothing to be said about the implosion of the scum up the M1 but you would think we would get more than a scoreline mention on Look North and Calender I just get the feeling relations are strained with the BBC radio pig in particular.

MOTD final game of the season will do a review of the whole Premier league season. Leicester City last season quite rightly received most coverage. I was hoping Channel 5 would do the same as BBC and devote most of the programme to our achievements but I wasn't holding my breath.

Wonder if when the whole EFL (or whatever it's called nowadays) season finishes they will do a review of each league including league one.

Local TV usually operate a skeleton staff on bank hols so I'll give 'em the benefit of the doubt. However, what with the 'open top bus parade' happening I'll expect nothing less than major coverage on both Look Leeds and Calendar tomorrow evening. (I'll not hold my breath though, unless of course Ched Evans happens to fart in public).

There are a few clips on the RS website from yesterday. So not sure the club have blocked RS or the BBC in general.

They can't as they use radio Pig commentary on Blades player but they can let them know of their displeasure on the leak.

Because I am a sad bastard I have just re-watched the show after the Northampton result, we got 3m50s in total.......3m and 50 f****g seconds. Quite incredible that they gave Bolton 5 times the coverage for just scraping home into 2nd.

This is what Riley doesn't seem to be grasping. Obviously Bolton were going to be the main focus yesterday but the time spent on them (for finishing 14 points behind us) dwarfed the coverage we got when we went up. You really would have thought Bolton had won the league and we were the ones who scraped up when watching last night.

Haha apologies I realised the error of my ways soon after i posted, i have had a good talking to by myself. A suitable punishment will be given (watching repeat of football on 5) :)

those responsible at channel 5 for goal rush
You have single handed destroyed football coverage of the EFL
How can you ignore a game where 31003 turned up nearly matching fleetwoods total seasons attendances
The Bolton love fest covering 25 minutes of a 45 minute programme,
Is that even handed coverage, as sheffield united were setting new records
and Millwalls great game got just goal highlights
Try and get it right , luckily we are in the championship programme next season
really looking forward to our 25 second spots in your programmes next season

Heres my effort to C5. I cannot imagine anything but another lame reply.Perhaps it adds weight to my previous suggestion of our own channel?

Dear Sir/Madam
Please forgive me if this is not the correct place for feedback and if so perhaps you could forward it to the relevant department.
However I wish to feedback on Channel fives Goal Rush highlights program, giving particular attention to Sunday 30th April.
Firstly I understand every Fan wishes to see his team feature and I would imagine perhaps more so when they have had particular success, sustained throughout a whole season. After all isn't that the nature of competition ? and to see who has what it takes to be Leaders in their given sport and a benchmark for others to aim at
I would imagine Bolton's fans were delighted at the seemingly over zealous coverage for achieving second prize at the expense of another club who achieved rather more than themselves, yet were largely ignored. It is as if there is a separate agenda.I do hope not but the proof is usually in the pudding.
May I ask what the remit of your production team is?I could not find any statement of intent despite my research so I ask the question directly.
Moreover what was the thinking behind giving precedence to second place?. It reminds me of the American approach where if your personal politics are at odds with a particular subject you simply edit them out. Were I a new viewer to this program I could be forgiven for thinking Bolton Wanderers had won League One such was the focus.
Given that I have not seen coverage from a particular stadium all season, it was a surprise to see the particular choice made so would you be able to clarify what the reasoning behind this choice was?
In all fairness I find your presenters pretty dull and uninspiring, with far too many ad breaks and tedious feedback from the like of Clinton Morrison/ Adam Virgo for example . It appears I am not alone and little has changed since the referenced article."Punditry, from former Coventry City FC loanee Adam Virgo, drew criticism, Football League Tonight an embarrassment to the Football

League"http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sp...ews/football-league-tonight-five-more-9825012

Football League Tonight an embarrassment to the Football League
By Aidan McCartney
Aidan McCartney takes a look at Channel 5's new Football League highlights programme that let down football ...

Seriously,is that the best you can manage? Ex footballers who prattle on sometimes intelligibly whilst bringing no conclusion to a particular question or subject offered by George or Lynsey when what we want is to see more Football.
I speak to other fans who also find it a dull and uninspiring show. Compared to Gary Lineker on Match of the Day or Jeff Stelling on Sky Sports, personally speaking you have a long way to go to find a formula and recipe that both entertains and informs. It does the latter but as already mentioned using bias and poor judgement. Some humour would not go amiss. It would be interesting to see the viewing figures but i do wonder if you are delighted with them.Is your Producer even a knowledgeable football fan?. Is he/she out there on the street and social media platforms talking to potential viewers? It seems you are as in touch with them as Theresa May is with the general public.
You may do well to garner further feedback from the "Ordinary person on the Street"in an attempt to gather material that serves more than a bias toward particular clubs at particular times. Bolton Wanderers are not the only club to be given such blessed coverage this past season.
Football is an exciting and all encompassing means of distraction and entertainment for many, from a largely uninspiring existence in this ever increasing world of drudge caused by inequality that comes from hierarchical attitudes and beliefs it could be argued..Moreover, It is as if you think you know better or don't really care as long as the balance sheet serves its investors.Perhaps you will enlighten me.
I understand you cannot please all of the people all of the time but at least try to aim for better than you currently achieve. Sadly it amounts to little more than switching channels in an effort to find something to fill the void until a more comprehensive and thought provoking form of football entertainment comes along on Saturday evening.
Lord knows as a fan whose club has been in the lower leagues, there is precious little to feast on regarding action and highlights and Goal Rush can be aptly described as Low-lights. Dull as dishwater.

I eagerly await your thoughts.
Kind regards,
Paul Hibberd.

The channel 5 coverage is provided by sunset+vine. They did the bbc coverage previously and currently also produce the Premier League coverage. The company who actually won the tender was ITV Productions.

They are all in bed with each other.

The EFL foreign tv coverage (the 3pm Saturday game) is provided by Pitch International. At the start of last season Wendy were featured on this slot 5 times in the first 8 weeks. I pointed this out to Pitch who never responded to me but I noticed that afterwards they were not shown again until February. Not saying it was my doing but there is definitely a Wendy influence in there.

I know the assistant producer on Football on 5 programme is a Liverpool supporter. Here you go:

I dont want preferential coverage
I want fair even handed coverage

no more want us getting 25 minutes out of 45 than bolton got
12 games in a 48 minute programme is 4 minutes per game to me

is it that hard to work out

This is all anyone asks, as mentioned throughout this thread anyone not knowledgeable on league one would have thought their was only one automatic place and bolton had taken it.

I mean, I agree with all the points being made, but it seems like a lot of wasted time getting so worked up and into slanging matches with a shit channel like C5. Fuck em, we know they're crap just forget about them and watch the stuff on United's excellent official YouTube channel.
