Meltdown over......

So you think Wilder is a spineless yes man who will let the board sign any player they like without his approval?

We need Wilder more than Wilder needs us, he can easily walk into a job as good if not better than United. So with that in mind, the board won't be doing anything stupid like signing Ched behind Wilder's back and if they did he certainly wouldn't be standing for it.

Well I for one am prepared to believe that McCabe did this off his own bat. He certainly did when he tried to bring Evans in when Clough was in charge.

If Wilder is in agreement, fine by me. But then again, Wilder wouldn't be the first employee who'd bitten his tongue and accepted what he thought was a bad decision by higher management.

Sorry, but just by living among them you have become an adopted 'cockernee' (and I do know that Sheperds Bush is some distance from Bow Church, even with a following Easterly wind). Making up Southern 'mates' makes you look even more desperate and I'm sure you'll agree I've got you 'bang to rights and no mistake, guv'nor'?

Thanks for confirming your sexual non deviations, so can we just settle on 'Cockney Prick' then?

"Bow Church"?

You're either elephants or 'avin a bubble.

Why doesn't this have to stink of McCabe?

As much as we can speculate and claim this is all his doing, it could also be that the manager (the guy who's done the best job at this club since Bassett) believes he can get him back to the player he could have been and an integral part of the club next season and beyond.
He may have a very sizeable budget, and saw the fee of 500k max (dependant on appearances and other add ons) with an initial outlay of a mere £150k as good value and worth the risk. Even if he continues to struggle for match fitness, he's an improvement on McNulty and Done for the striker role.

You just look a bitter old man with a long held grudge and hatred of the owner when you put a completely speculative and one sided post full of criticism. Granted, the timing of announcement is off as it detracts from this seasons supremacy, but that hasn't come from United but from elsewhere, and fuelled by the wankstains at Radio Sheffield.
Try to be a little more balanced and don't believe the hype when it's designed to paint the club in a bad way.
Half full.....United have paid 150k for an ex international striker of past quality that needs getting back on track. Wilder has managed to do similar with players who cost far more....Coutts for example, and if he DOES become the top player he once was we pay Chezzy the remainder of the 500k.
How do you know we have only paid £150k for him? Where has that figure come from?

ABSOLUTELY SPOT ON B56!

The media are doing their best to try and crank it up, but it's a non story if we stick together.

And any Pig comes on all rightous over us signing an innocent man, just remind them how they creamed themselves over those vile pieces of shit, Ranger and Madine.

Actually Ranger's had a very good season. And if we are looking for one more piece in the striking jigsaw...

It's just yet another way to have a go at our Chairman from a non attendee with an agenda

'Non-attendee'. Nice one. Everyone else who has expressed an adverse opinion to the reported signing of Evans who doesn't attend games is similarly bracketed, yeah? I mean, it wholly qualifies your opinion if you have attended games this season to express a full point of view because, y'know, clearly going to games counts.

I'll say this. Either you have had your head stuffed firmly up your arse for the last six seasons or you are trolling, and trolling badly. Or you are related or paid by McCabe. The money to buy Evans, whether it was Widler or not, will have to have been approved by McCabe. I doubt it was Wilder. I don't think he needs Evans in any way, shape or form, and certainly not to gamble any sort of money on a player who has misfired and struggled to establish himself this season and played in a relegated setup, to stick him in a promoted setup. There. I don't need to attend any game (ever) to form that opinion. Maybe you should stop going to games because it seems to blind you to the bleedin' obvious. Or, you'd better hope upon hope Evans has 20 goals in him next season, in a division he was patently woeful as a younger version of himself with four goals and then nine goals. We were relegated as well.

As ever, this isn't about Wilder. We all back the bloke who has turned this club round and made us the champions we are.

Spunking x hundred grand on a footballing pariah and someone who has not shown anything of what he was before his incarceration stinks of McCabe. I don't give a fat fuck if his conviction was quashed, who shagged who or what people think he is all about. His history and association with SUFC has caused this club no end of woe in the past and if it turns out we did spend half a fucking million on him - however people say 'that's fuck all in the Championship' it is half a fucking million - and he spends next season sitting it out on the bench, injured or not even scoring like he has this season - then what?

It is a shake of the dice which does not need to be done. There will be plenty of out of contract options soon to bring to the Lane and integrate with the team, and if the promises are fulfilled, plenty of want-away transferees from bigger, better clubs, fully fit with Champ or PL experience who could move straight in and do the job. People once again are dusting over the implications of this daft, risky move and if it is daft and risky, that isn't how Wilder does his business. All season he has been safe, solid and consistent. No risks.

As said, best Evans gets fit, gets busy and starts shitting silver dollars. He has a lot to prove.

pommpey

So McCabe, the bloke who doesn't invest in the club, is going to throw a 1/2 million away, just to prove a point? And what is that point?
Having presided over our return to the Championship, he is willing to risk that to prove this point?
Having found the best manager that we have had in xx years and the best atmosphere both on and off the pitch, he is going to risk that to prove this point?
McCabe has never struck me as an ego man who interferes with the managers and I really can't see this now but enlighten me.

"Bow Church"?

You're either elephants or 'avin a bubble.

One has neither partaken of intoxicants nor is one jesting.

One did however wrongly mistake St Mary-le-Bow for the fabricated 'Bow Church' and for this mortal error, one sends one's apologies.

One is now waiting for one's luncheon to partake of jellied eels, pie and mash.

Which bit of Indonesia?

With a strong westerly, I've heard that the Bow Bells can just reach........

Jakarta probably.

Isn't it past your bed time then?

Maybe tomorrow when you are in a better mood you could set up the 'Cockney Blades (Jakarta) branch'?

You could do buses to the big games and pick Pommpey up on the way......

Well, I haven't moved there and tbf, it's unlikely I will because I disagree with their governance.

Shame. Because, y'know, that was all the managers wot did that.

"Kev?"
"What's up Nige?"
"I'm selling Murphy. Brighton have made an offer."
"Good. Because we have the pitch to pay for. Just kidding. I paid for that myself. Anyway, why are you selling Murphy?"
"So I can buy better players. Like Martyn Woolford. He'll score tons more goals than Murphy."
"That's a great idea."

Have a like for that, because in a way, it is optimistic and makes sense.

Somehow the phrase, 'but we are Sheffield United' echoes around my head though.

I'm so glad, after the Ched news, the reaction of some "fans", and the snow, I was afraid I'd be waking up to the end of the world!!!
Thankfully it isn't and I'm now getting giddy in preparation for Sunday!!!!

Oh, where do we start. Do you want me to list the key players we have sold?

pommpey
He sells players to balance the books but that doesn't explain why he is suddenly willing to spend so much on a player. What's the point he is trying to prove?

I'm ambivalent about the signing myself. I do say this though. From all we've seen and heard of Tufty as a man and manager, I do not believe for one second that he would 'bite his lip' if a controversial player were foisted on him from above.

If we sign Ched, it's because Tufty wants him. If that doesn't suit certain pet theories, c'est la vie.

Glad to hear you are staying as the time difference would have made it hard to post on here. You'd be posting in the middle of night with all the alco's and loonies having flaming rows with one another about pyro, racism and the price of fish.

I have to say I was a mite surprised you considered the move in the first place, but I suppose it's all part of the mid life crisis isn't it.

So, 'Cockney Prick' is still looking good then?
