So its hilarious that at this stage of the season when we are normally ready for a playoff debacle or a mid table crap finish that chants are never mentioned, but with this seasons success its all about the chants on here!

So it got me thinking, can anyone on here claim to have made up a chant that has taken off?
Who started the magic hat chant for example, anyone know? (I know it was nicked off other teams but you catch my drift).

Have you ever attempted to begin a chant at a match, and how did it go?

Being a musician and songwriter of sorts, this sort of thing gets my interest.

Cheers, and UTB

I once sang naa naa naa naa he's a cunt and he's a cunt. No one joined in though. Perhaps I shouldn't have done that in the family stand.

You heard it here first folks.
Ring of fire.

You've fell into the clutches of the Wilder.
Blades Blades Blades, the Blades climb higher coz of Wilder.

One that made me laugh when I first heard it was to the tune of Adam and the Ants song Prince Charming.

Don't you ever don't you ever run from the Sheffield Wednesday.
He's a Blade he's a Blade
Sheffield Wednesdays nothing to be scared of.

I once reworked John Denver's, Annie's Song into a song about chip butties and snuff but I don't think it ever caught on.

So can you clear up an argument, was it maggots or magnet?

I'll drink to that..........

2 songs I've started on the kop. Not classics that catch on, but none the less a thrill when you're caught up in the moment, start chanting it, and goes round the whole ground.

"you dirty Wednesday bastard" aimed at David Hirst in our first in the first derby early 90s.

And "we want 4" when Bob Booker was knocking em in against southampton, through the mist in front of the kop.

No, thank fuck!

Few, that was close!

I always knew it as don't you ever, lower yourself supporting Sheffield Wednesday but the rest of it runs :)

I wrote a song earlier with a 12 bar blues riffage feel but a Motorhead-style drum beat and mentioned a few player names over the top, does that count?

No original songs but I've started a few on the Kop. I just go with the fail safe of UOOONITED on the back of the Kop from time to time. Can't really fail with that can you! I've tried other times to get songs started with mixed results at best! Its a great feeling though when everyone joins in! The main one I remember is against Wednesday in the League Cup which we sadly lost. It was extra time and I just gave it the UOOONITED full throttle and hat's loud I promise! It reverberated all the way round the Leppings Lane end and when I listened to the highlights back the same night you could hear it going because I knew it was just before the end of the first half of extra time and by fluke it was on the highlights. You could hear the pig fans chant S@@t between every United!
