As said in previous threads on this subject. I'm happy for Coutts to continue to improve. His defending has got better again after his recent blip although first half yesterday he did get caught in a similar situation to the ones both me and
Bergen Blade have pointed out recently and a better player than his opponent yesterday would have punished his lack of concentration. The less well educated and sophisticated do not see the changing picture of the game situations like you and I and no matter what will always look to defend their point on a player refusing to see the number of their so called Hoofs by the player they are looking at through Blade coloured specs. Like the three or four in the first half. These are the one that frustrate me with a player like Coutts who many claim can turn out of a situation to create the space for himself. Well yes he can so why did he 'Hoof' when he had no need to and in at least two of those situations yesterday, having loads of time? His decision making needs a lot of work. He should watch Basham over the last few games for examples of this because the versatility of him at the moment is beautiful The simplicity he applies at the right point is a joy followed by a skill trick technique carried out to perfection. Check out 49.5 mins in to the second half against Northampton ( just before the end) and see this bloke who gets very little credit for his contribution and example to others. He does this type of thing many times at the right time. When Coutts gets as consistent as Basham he will be a real class player.
EDIT: I suggest we leave this for now and celebrate our great team and club.
