Cameron Jerome would be perfect IMO. But Norwich would never sell him as he's the only striker injury free.

If ever a man didn't fulfil his obvious talent it is Cameron Jerome. We shouldn't go anywhere near him because throughout his career all you have to do it turn on Sky Sports news and within 5 minutes you will hear that Cameron Jerome has missed a sitter. 10 shots one goal seems to be his ratio.

Let's do something simple, Chris wanted 6 strikers this year. I cannot imagine him wanting less next season. The first 2 to go I would guess would be McNulty and Done.

So I would imagine we are in for at least 2 maybe 3 if CW offloads one.

Some good suggestions above, I don't want any young loan players for every Abraham there's 100 rubbish ones and we cannot take that risk this year.

Gallagher been mentioned think he's around 10 goals and so has Danny Ward. Both good age, good size with speed. Think we could do a lot worse than sign these. Whoever CW signs I will be 100% behind.

Actually think if we do our due diligence on a player a young loan player is exactly what we need. Won't break the bank and I trust Wilder to have done his homework.

I was just suggesting someone who fits this black and pacey criteria in all fairness.

His stats can't be denied but we've been happy with Hanson here because he's been part of winning sides and 'throws himself about'.

We do need to add more pace in wide areas if we can't keep Chapman.

Can see CW trying to get Bogle. Only signed a 2.5 year deal and if Wigan go down they're in financial dire straights as this is the last season of parachute payments for them..

He will be available this summer should they go down.

Already been waxing lyrical to friends that we should try and nick him.

any one would think we were going to be playing real madrid and bayern next season , the way some are going on
Its nothing that special
have you not watched ipswich of forest on tv
If Burton can go up there and survive with just hard workers imagine what our cxhampagne football can dso

for fucks sake show some positivity

we have superstars in our team compared to what some teams have in the championship

How black does he have to be on a scale of Wes Brown to Robert Mugabe

One thing for sure is we need strikers who will score goals.
Sharp is barren and not one goal in at least 4 games has come from a striker bar Clarke v Coventry.
I don't think Wilder will view ANY of the aforementioned 4 as first choice next season.
I wouldn't.

I think the bigger issue for me with Billy is, he's not getting younger, he's got very little pace and he's not good in the air. I think it would be a mistake to rely on him as our main striker next season and I don't think we will either.

As for Hanson...well, I like his work-rate and he's very good in the air - but again, no pace and really quite limited in terms of skills. So we can't depend on him as the main striker.

Clarke - I think - is a good player and I've said this all along. But, we cannot rely on him either because he's permanently injured.

Lavery - I like him tbh. I think he could step up and make the grade at Championship level - but he's a bit lightweight. He's got pace and I think he will score goals, but he'll need some one bigger and stronger to work alongside him.

McNulty - sorry...I just don't have time for the guy. Let him go and ply his trade elsewhere. He's a good finisher imo - but there's something amiss about the kid and I wouldn't want to rely on him as one of our main strikers at Championship level.

Somebody posted on here the other day about us needing a new Brian Deane. I posted something similar ages ago. That is exactly what we need and I think they are few and far between - but that kid Bogle is probably cursing his luck at joining Wigan, who will be in League 1 next season. That's the kind of striker I'd like to see us sign - although it will cost a pretty penny seeing as we'd have to buy him out of a 2 year contract - but...if we are ambitious (as our owners will have us believe) then they should move heaven and earth to get him, imo.

who are you talking to ?
Who has said this ? I cant see anyone saying anything of the sort
Again, if they actually exist quote them directly and ask them stops you looking like a nutter

A Tammy Abraham type loan would be ideal but how many of those types are available ?

So no one then

have they not noticed us celebrating a bit more this season

Thats saying we need 14 or 15 new players and we are playing real Madrid and Barcelona next season  or is it just someone speculating on whether we might need new strikers ?

I hope our management team arent as complacent as you

All the above is some solvent based high you are coming down off, people are looking forward and have their own opinions, what do you expect? However, somewhere in the clattering of your keyboard, you do have a point. It's the Championship and if you look at how Burton are doing it on a show string and with one of our cast offs you have to look at us and say even with what we have there is not a deal needs changing.

Everyone keeps going on about Billy as if his legs are about to implode and he's going to start playing with his boots on the wrong feet. He isn't quick, but he never was. He isn't good in the air, but he never was. What Billy has is something that the best strikers have. An ability to pop up in the right place at the right time. Age doesn't stop that.

Our midfield is as good as anything I have seen in a while and I think it will surprise many in the Championship. Our defence possibly needs more strength and depth but we have been one of the best defences in our division so they can't all be shit.

I'd say 3 or 4 class signings and we can up our game to at least compete.

I would agree with this. I think 3 or 4 first team signings and maybe another 3 or 4 fringe player signings and we should be good.

Done and McNulty will probably be moved on. Sharp will start and we need a partner for him because I cant see Hanson or Clarke being more than impact subs/backup.

With regards to a strike partner for Billy. Daryl Murphy should be attainable when Newcastle get promoted. However he may be too similar to what we already have and he is 34.

I like the look of Enes Unal, the young lad at Man City. He has been on loan at FC Twente this season. 4th top goalscorer in the league (15 in 28). I would say the standard between the dutch league and the championship is fairly similar.

.......................................................................................................................................................................................Make a change from spending 500k on Dead Wood .

Don't think we'll get Wood for 500k[/QUOTE]

Championship team of the year. In a promotion chasing side. Amongst the top scorers in the division. Not sure £5million would get him let alone £500k.

Just had a scout and here's some strikers who's contracts are apparently up in June:

Darren Bent
Sami Ameobi
Libor Kozak
Marvin Sordell
Leon Best :D
Jermaine Beckford
Matty Fryatt

er mmmmmmmmm o_O

Reyt then looking at that lot, who can we go out and buy who's under contract?

Think Ameobi could be a decent signing but more as a wide option than up front. Bolton missed him when he went back to Newcastle this season.

Lewis Grabban is a typical example of the sort of player we'll be looking at.

How about Jerome Sinclair on loan?

David McGoldrick's gone a bit shit recently, how about him?

Danny Graham's not bad. Scored a few for Blackburn this season. Could Wilder get him back to his best?

Apostolos Vellios at Forest is someone who's got more to offer than he's shown IMO and Wilder could get the best out of him if Warburton doesn't fancy keeping him.

But I'll save the best till last. I think I have the answer. I give you.......

Chris O'Grady.

I’ve always liked O’Grady but wonder if the time has now passed. He’s not getting any younger.

What about Nick Blackman? Is he getting much game time at Derby?

I think that as a decent base for strikers next term,Billy plus a new addition to start.
Hanson will mix games up as he's a handful.Lavery is a great player also,so another cog in the chain.

The championship is a different kettle of fish, but not the huge chasm that's been talked about.

Nucleus is the key next year. Moore, o Connell,Freeman, lafferty, fleck,Coutts, sharp.
Build the team around those and we will be ok I reckon.

I do feel sentimental tho to the other players I haven't mentioned.
Scoogs in particular, who started this season so well and we havnt seen him since when????
This squad has been proven to be far better than we thought.
Remember how we started to shine when we relied on done starting every week???
How the season has Changed eh?
We need to remember the done and scouggs performances when we were starting to turn the corner.
Utb

Agreed. They deserve credit for the part they played in a fantastic season. They won’t be involved next season but have done their bit this year.

Pray tell how many goals have been scored by strikers other than Billy?

Pray tell how many goals have been scored by strikers other than Billy?

League goals for United only:

Lavery - 4
Clarke - 3
Done - 2
Hanson - 1

So a grand total of 10 League goals from our "other" strikers. I do think Clarke would have got more if he'd stayed fit and played the Sharp role.

It's not really what you would expect from a title winning team and I'd be worried next season about being replaced if I was one of the four listed above.

Temped to keep Clarke. He can play a few roles really. He's not really the archetypal static target man and is not slow. We're not going to be shopping around for 4th choice strikers so we have to keep some depth.

Hanson will have a role to play but perhaps not as a regular. Lavery will add pace when fit again.

Sharp will definitely get a fair crack.

Can't see a future for Done or McNulty but you never know with Wilder.

Wilder builds a lot on spirit and familiarity.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a more mobile partner for Sharp and more of a link type forward brought in.

Gallagher might be a more mobile option, Bogle perhaps, Ward, maybe Gregory, for an all Blades forwardlone, but as an alternative type of striker I can see Chapman, who got a hat-trick let's not forget, as a creative option. He can double up as an attacking midfield or wide option. With 10 in 31 a League up, I'd not be shocked to see Ricky Holmes chased down either.

Someone like Maddison was mentioned and seems wasted in this league, as does Otzumer, though the latter is very small. We may be surprised, there may be few additions than we expect, more evolution than revolution; there must be an argument for Fleck and Coutts carrying on if the formation is the same - doesn't leave much scope for lots of additions.

Riley would also seem an obvious utility squad addition, adding dept of cover on both sides of the pitch.

Definitely the Filipino lad in goal at Walsall would be a good, realistic competition for Moore.

Just leaves the centre halves. It would be good to get a couple but much as some have written him off, Brayford would support the continuation of 3-5-2 and provide wide over too, not to mention being familiar with the squad. A top centre back name escapes me but I think this would be key even with Basham and O'Connell playing so well, especially if three at the back is possible, though I hope Wright gets a chance next year.

stop trying to see things that arent there
youll be denying people have been unhappy for the last 5 years next

we dont need to discard our entire front line , as some would like

why is it solvent based arsehole

such as Clarke CW signed on a 3 year deal
anyone who thinks hes rushing to the exit door are the ones on glue

and whats that got to do with the price of fish

Hanson and Clarke , bet you 100 quid both will be here next season
and quite right too

The price of fish is 10 pal.
10 paltry goals all season scored by your jizz fest forward line.
If you seriously think Hanson and Clarke will fill their boots next season in a league where defenders are much better, and Billy will get half his haul this season then you've been in the sun too long dude.
