Carruthers.

Last week against Millwall he put in one of the worst performances by a sub that I have ever seen. Last night he was excellent. A full pre-season behind him and a run in the team should put him in good stead for next season and gain him some consistency

Undoubted, but he needs to build on his consistency and discipline... I've also seen him offer nothing and look out of place in LG1.

Was about to say, its great to look good in a 20 minute cameo at home, against a team which is tired.

Its something totally different to have an influence in a game at Championship level. As an example he came on at Swindon for a similar cameo and gave the ball away every time.

Don't get me wrong, he's one of the ones I have high hopes for, but the fact he's not been able to break into the first XI yet has me a little concerned. If he was that good, I'm sure Tufty would have given him a run in the side.

I think your going to get that with Carruthers, he's that type of player that will either be unplayable or do your block in.

He did well last night, the big difference for me. Duffy was a momentum spoiler all game before he got subbed.

I wouldn't mind seeing him play wide right in 4-4-2 or some sort of 4-3-3. Probably with Chapman on the other side. He's got the ability to cause problems for teams at this level playing in pretty much any position.

Love his attitude to get forward and at times he looks fearless.

I have high hopes for him next season. I'd like to see him bag one to gauge his celebration.

Another quality player who is very good on the ball, great first touch. But also has a bit of pace.

I'm gonna stick my neck on the block and state that if he keeps free from injury from now til season end....has a good summer and works hard on maintaining his fitness and targeted strength work, then comes back ready for pre season and gets through that without injury too....he will be a whole different level to where he is now.

Lots of ifs etc, but worked well for Coutts. I suspect he will be the same.

First time I really watched him properly was for MK Dons v Pigs last season in the Championship. I was invited along to corporate there which was fun as MK won 2-1 and I had a bet on it :D

He looked full of tricks and turns that night so I was excited when we signed him. Definitely a talented lad that will only improve if he keeps listening to the manager and his coaches.

Some say Samir is a show pony, all fancy tricks but little substance, a poor mans Alex Sabella.

He's undoubtedly very talented and has massive potential.
I believe Wilder will keep him grounded and make him realise talent means nothing
unless you make use of it, work hard for the team and be effective.

Think he has a big future and Wilder is just to man to get the best out of him.

With Middlesboros precarious position I can't see us having Chapman for much longer

Carruthers might get more opportunities next season

The only reason he hasn't nailed down a first team place is because we are doing so well

The sky is the limit for him. It's in his hands. He can try and emulate his until recently teamate Dele Ali,or he can PISS it up against a wall.
He has the right manager at the right club at the right time.
It's up to him to deliver, learn, improve, dedicate.
He has the raw talent. It's his to use or not.

He could piss it up a wall Or piss it in to a cup and pour it some where.

His major problem since joining is that Duffy has been so good in that midfield three his only chances were ever going to come from fitness issues or off the bench. He'd have to do something pretty special in training to break up that trio.

My view of what I've seen of him (only seen him from the bench) is that he's largely been brought on in a very free role where he's been able to throw caution to the wind, run at people, and try and do all the attractive attacking things fans like to see and, while he's done that very well, it's another thing to play from the start of the game where you have a lot more responsibility. Certainly a good prospect and as a long term signing looks like the right kind of gamble.

This. Saved me a lot of thinking and typing.

He's not had a proper run of games yet to be fair to the lad to really show what he can do,but he's shown enough to suggest he's going to be a regular starter next season...he's a real talent...I was thinking first half we played in front of Cov,then second half Carruthers started running past players and moving the ball quicker and opening them up,and we start turning them towards their own goal and getting behind them...I've noticed he seems to like to showboat a bit, which I don't mind, but if it doesn't come off I can see him getting a bit of stick from some fans.

Who would you drop we are unbeaten in twelve

I'd like to see him pushed wide on the left....to get behind defences, run at them and generally give them the shits. An old skool winger even.

Let's be reight, the alternative, which would be him putting in bone crunching tackles in midfield, is not really going to happen anyway

Don't think he's quick enough to be a winger and probably not good at crossing either.

I think he's best playing a Duffy role, free role, a type of luxury player floating around in the space between midfield and attack. Although like Duffy I think Carruthers is great when we have possession
But when out of possession you can see he's not as motivated to perform defensive duties.

I do not disagree...I am thinking of Eddy Gray and John Robertson as role models here. Proper wingers. Carruthers probably needs to take up smoking to perform this role well.

Wilder has already commented on his condition no the being upto scratch so next season I expect we will see a whole different player once the conditioners have worked him into shape

First time I've seen him play last night.
That lad will find it no problem in the championship.
What a fucking talent that kid is.
He's got a hell of a lot to learn when we don't have the ball, we lose shape and he doesn't seem to know what to do or where to go, bit of a headless chicken. With the ball he's deffo got something. CW will see this and work on him.
