We had consecutive promotions from 1988 to 90, true the second one was not expected, but as we had several players up front who could shoot and score for fun it was not entirely unexpected in my view at the time. Alot depends on if a team has enough offensive capability to make them more scared of us than we are of them.

It's the constant use of "we" that gets me going.you know he means everyone.. before this season "We" meant the players and coaches and the fans were the just known as "the fans" but with Wilder you know "We" means Billy Sharp, John fleck, everyone on this forum, even those on Bladesmad.. the "PROGRAMMES THREE QUID" programme seller on South stand. The lads that work security on the Tunnel the coaching staff, The groundman, my old man despite him not going in 6 years.everyone who associates themselves in one way or another with Sheffield United comes under that two letter word.

This is beginning to feel like the early 70's all over again, and the feeling of Blades family and togetherness that drew me into Sheffield United in the first place.

Really looking forward to see how this man copes and deals with the championship. If recruitment this season is anything to go by we should be fine in that department. We all know full well it's going to be very tough and I don't expect anything more than just surviving and building from there. He impresses me in every interview, says it how it is and is very honest. Roll on tomorrow night.

He always gets the right balance between reality and confidence. Must be great to play for him.

Interesting bit in there on how pivotal this season was & just how important building the unity has been.

"One of the most important years this club has ever had". And how, after last season, "it could have gone one way or the other".

That's why it's so frustrating when people start going on about back to back promotions or challenging for top six next season. Yes, it's nice to dream but the likelihood is that a mid table finish is the best we can achieve.

As soon as people start to confuse 'small possibility' with 'probable outcome' problems start. A realistic expectation is a minimum of three years before we properly compete; a year to focus on staying up, a year to consolidate a mid table position and a year pushing for a top six place.

To do it quicker would be nice but anyone who expects more is an idiot and should be treated as such.

Fair comment. Don`t imagine there will be too many "expecting" another promotion next year. Anyone who has followed the Blades for any length of time, will, by now, have been smacked in the back of the head by the realities of being a fan of this wonderful football club.
It is a case of "hopes and dreams" ; As I tell my wife when I buy a lottery ticket - "I`m buying a dream."

Thanks for the positive wishes. Wish I was heading down on Saturday but tickets were like gold-dust. Would be nice to party with a whole town who want to celebrate with us. I’ll have to make do with MK.

I'm probably going to get some right stick for this post, but anyway.......

Wilder shouldn't get unconditional support next season, it's taken us 6 years to get out of this division, so if we're looking like going down I don't see any reason why we can't question Wilder's position.

Look at Leicester, Ranieri obviously did amazing last season, but you can't be sentimental and risk relegation.

you look at CW and co and you know how much this means to him , to manage his /our club

he will do everything in his power and work night and day to keep us up and i firmly belive he will do a grand job in the league above , as some have said 3 seasons of consolidation and then hopefully push on would be great - just to be back in the championship with bigger games/ more away fans etc is a massive relief

we have had a long string of shite managers and had a awful 6-8 years with managers/players who dont give a fu#k and for one manager who was also a blade , whose eyes will wonder at the first sign of something better for them ( NW looking at you, you did a great job with us but i dont believe that his heart was in it like CW's is )

also if it isnt working CW will change things and quickly , we have seen that this season, not just with signings etc but with changes of formations 2,3 times duirng matches , he doesnt seem to have the stuboness to always think he is always right and i believe and hope he will be a great success for many seasons to come and do what is right ..

just as some of said, fans have got to be very realistic on what we can achieve .
sure CW will get some things wrong but he has shown he can adapt and admit when something hasnt gone right

I for one will be looking forward to all games next season including the filth matches ( which i am normally very nervous about ), i have 100 confidence our lads and CW will give there all and smash the swine folk!!

CW sliding down to celebrate infornt of 6k blades at that shite ground will be a picture worth catching !!

When I listened this morning, I could just feel the team spirit and cohesion he engenders. Nobody with an association with that badge goes unnoticed. You can tell he's created a 'no player is above the club' mentality and to have 22+ men in this sport buying into that mantra is truly admirable.

Wilder mentioned George Long's fantastic attitude since being dropped whilst still encouraging Moore. It's just really pleasing to hear that CW et al. create that environment. Not getting carried away or resorting to ridiculous analogies after a defeat. No allowing players to just run off down the tunnel after an away match. For me, it's these nuances in his management and his decorum that are most inspiring.

I just can't ever (and hope not to) see another Dave Kitson/James Beattie/Marlon King/Craig Beattie, to name a few, strutting in and upsetting what has been crafted under his reign.
