Koeman has a Youth Policy, we don't, just now.

I tend to take all the links with big clubs with a pinch of salt.

As a first year scholar if Parkhouse was pushing on that quickly he would have been a regular with the 23s.

That said, you just never know !!

There must be 15 to 20 scouts at every 23s match so other clubs are looking at what we have, thats for sure. I agree about Reed. I am convinced he has been assured of his involvement next season or he would have been long gone by now. He looks like he is proving a point every game he plays.
I think Reed is a young player chucked in too early at first team level when physically he was not ready. Hence my words of caution with the current crop.

What SUFC has done is sweep the board of players who will never make the transition to senior football. CW has only given players pro contracts if he sees a future benefit to his long term plans for the club.

For every 40 Everton young professionals we have Semple, Slater, Hallam, Graham, Ty Smith, Gilmoor, Jake Bennet, Brooks, Horatio Hirst.

These players are 16/17/18 years old playing U23s football. These lads will train with the first team every now and then, play with the 23s and go out on loan when the time is right. All with a view to being given a chance to be in our first team squad. Only when CW thinks they are ready and only if they are good enough.

What is the current contract situation with these lads + Kelly + Reed + Whiteman etc?

As far as i am aware Kelly will be released in the Summer, Brooks has signed a 3 year contract, Whiteman has a year, Reed has a year, Slater, Semple, Gilmoor, Ty Smith, Graham, Hallam 2 years, Jake Bennett, Hirst 1 year.

These change very quickly. Whiteman i would think will get a longer contract after impressing on loan.

Didn't know Brooks had signed Larky. Good lad. That speaks volumes to me. CW and Binnion obviously have a long term plan that he's bought into.

Knowing a few of the younger lads the only thing they want is to play for SUFC. It has always been made clear to them that when signing a pro deal it meant they were part of CWs medium and long term plans.
For these youngsters knowing that you can play for this club is all the motivation they need. Semple, Slater, Hallam, Graham, Ty Smith, Gilmoor are all into there 11th year with the club.

I like the fact this bunch WANT to be here.

Can be hard work sometimes, I think I'll give it a rest. I suppose boorish behaviour is endemic on here and can't be tackled head on very easily, though I think I did make some progress.

What's it to do with me anyway?

Boorish behaviour is giving glib responses after making an inflammatory thread boldly suggesting nonsense like "we don't have a youth policy" (paraphrasing slightly). This thread has received far more sensible replies that it merits and you haven't engaged with any of them.

I agree it is a very good thread and I can't add any value when I am not around home much.

So you choose an inflammatory thread title, respond to none of the sensible responses, and then moan about "boorish behaviour"?

I don't care if you want to troll, just don't pretend it's something else.

Some leaps there Poker.

Some leaps there Poker.

Not really.

After all, you're finding the time to respond to some meta-discussion about your trolling but haven't got the time to engage in the supposedly honest discussion you started.

It's not a leap to think that this is what you wanted. You're a troll.

Everton play young lads so that they can gain Premier League experience, three in the derby game last weekend.

We don't do that in League 1.

Who is right, who is wrong? Interesting question.

Is Koeman more secure in his job than Wilder?

I think it's all about our first big hurdle. I expect one or two youngsters to get in the side by merit next season.
We have to concentrate above all else on promotion.
Everything else youth policy, sportsmanship, family values is secondary.
Let's see Koeman play the kids in a relegation six-pointer when injuries don't force it!
Wilder is calling it right for US!

Given that there are sufc alumni currently playing in the national side, premier league and championship and a fair few others making a career in the lower leagues, I'd say our youth system is working a treat and the path well defined and trodden for any talented young footballer at Sheffield United. I do look forward to the day we are in a position to keep hold of the best of them but that's not the topic of debate here.

If that is how it appears to you then I regret it very much.

Maybe I have taken the fight too far.

Cheers. You're no shark by the way, straightforward criticisms. I was out nearly all day though:( bit weary of it too!

Koeman is playing politics and making excuses due to so called lack of investment , injuries, not getting into the top 6 , by playing , or having to play kids .

If Everton had a chance of a top 4 finish would he play raw kids - No. It can be used as a excuse when they lose .

Nothing clever or tactical in what he is doing . He will be on his way at the end of the season to a so called " bigger club ".

Nothing in common with Sheffield United . Not comparing apples against apples at both First Team to Under Tens .

We are still a league 1 side and have been for 6 seasons .

Any comparison of football clubs has to be carried out on a level playing field .

And he's a knob

Of course we have a youth policy and a very good one at that.

If anyone thinks the only or best youth policy is givyoungjasonkylejimmyjakeandjosearuncostheyantadanygametimeanitsnotfair then ours is, sadly, not for them.
