30 years!!!

John Harris gave him the following instruction...win the ball and give it to that blonde haired genius alongside you

Thank you Trevor for the wonderful memories
They used to give TC and Colquhoun a fag at half time whereas for Trev it was a plate of raw steak.... what a terrier he was....

He also had a Ford Anglia car covered in lilac (or purple) corduroy if I remember rightly.

Came from Keighley, West Yorkshire. They're dead hard in Keighley - they have to be, it's very near Lancashire :D

Thought it was a velvet triumph.Herald.

And he had a pink piano,I'm sure he played it live on Calendar or Look North
It was so long ago that it is difficult to recall more than impressions of the man and the team he played in. I remember him as one of my favourite players in one of our greatest teams. He was like perpetual motion, constantly running and tackling. He was fearless, and the original "Beard" but ifhe played today he would probably pick up a red card per game.

How many times did you see him ?

Certainly every home game he played, Sitters, and quite a few away games as well - can still hear some his tackles now....
Ball winner for TC and Woody, but never got the credit he deserved for keeping attacks going.
Oh, and walked off with a broken leg as well, they broke the mould when he was made.

One of the memories I can remember is Trevor bulldozing his way through the Millwall defence to score a vital goal in the 70/71 promotion season,

It was a Triumph vitesse Boss ,he lived round the corner from me on Jowitt avenue ,we targeted him , Badger and Dearden who all lived close on Bob-a-job week but he wouldn't let us touch his car.All those 3 top league stars lived in semi detached houses ,how things change.

Vitesse and Herald fairly similar hence the misidentification! Cheers Sitters :)

As a kid i remember a dark Blue Triumph Vitese being parked on john Street , i ran my fingers down the velvet and thought which clown, has put a night club pulling jacket material , that should only be used for grab a granny nights , to pull , on a car , little did i know that , it belonged to a Weir Wolf [not David ] . What a great man Hi-Hi Hockey was .

I didn't see him play but he was obviously well liked by Blades fans. It's strange how we've continued to remember Hockey when he only played for us for about a season and a half. I can only assume it was his style of play that made Blades warm to him and perhaps his eccentricities. I was asking on another thread why he moved on so quickly and it was pointed out he likely fell out with a number of his team mates.

He certainly was one of a kind hard as nails but always played with a smile on his face rip

Top player and nice guy when I met him. Had a cast on his leg down the Lane Social but stood chatting in the car park for ages.

How old was he when he died?

I remember seeing him interviewed on Calendar at the piano. Had the privellage to watch him play and what a tough tackling midfielder he was too.

Taken from this world far too early. Cherished fond memories that still live on.

You are correct, he was well like in a short period - bit like bob booker really - what you saw was what you got.

Hockey gave the team 100% in central midfield - nothing special at all, just honest commitment.

It's probably fair to say, most Blades fans accept that type of player who gives 100%..............and then there was Dean Hammond.........nuff said really.
