That Fred Tunstall was something special, scored the goal of the century at the old Wembley to clinch the FA Cup,it was voted British Pathe's best goal of the season from a airship camera

Apparently, as late as the 1960s, when we got a penalty older Blades would shout "Fetch Tunstall". My great grandad rated him as one of the best players he saw in his years going to the Lane (1890s-1959)

Who was the player alongside TC who lost his place when Trevor was signed,I can remember John Barnwell and Colin Addison along with Frank Barlow playing that season,

Addison got injured at Luton and never came back to the team until the end of season County Cup match at Rotherham. Barnwell took his place in the home game against Charlton and scored twice in the 3-0 win. His last match was in the 2-1 defeat at Bolton 5 weeks later so Hockey replaced him

So did Dave Powell get injured in this season, thus allowing Flynn to play alongside Eddie?

Not immediately. Think Barlow returned to the team, he did play in the 1-0 win at Bristol City but not sure if he played in the 5-0 win against Blackburn. Think Flynn returned to the side in the 0-0 draw at Leicester. Will check when I get home

So who replaced Hockey when he broke his leg? And if he was previously an integral part of the team, why did we let him leave?

Just checked the line ups since Addison's last match at Luton on 5th December 1970. Barnwell replaced him in the next match. Hockey replaced Barnwell at the Oxford match even though Barlow returned to the team in the same match replacing Salmons. Ford replaced Barlow in the next match (v Luton). Barlow returned again in Powell's last match at QPR replacing Ford and stayed in the team until the goalles draw at S6. Flynn played in the last 7 games of the season from the Leicester match. Ford replaced Barlow for the Millwall match but was dropped in the next match replaced by Salmons

We didnt have a large squad and our back up players werent 1st division standard. We didnt sign another player until the summer and that was Keith Eddy although Hockey returned to the side for the Watney Cup matches and had a memorable return to St Andrews in the first League match of the new season but he wasnt the same player as he was. He became unsettled at the club a few months later and asked for a transfer. He then went to Norwich with Jim Bone coming the other way
