Huge blow if he's out for the season. I don't think Clarke the answer to any question.

I'd be up for playing Chapman just behind Billy. It's that or Done. I think we need that trickery or dogedness now.

Agree it will be a huge blow, maybe if our worse fears are realised,he will go back to what worked to an extent Billy and Done, the extent being Done not scoring but being a decent foil for BS

So much anger in you Fred consider anger management classes it will help next time you get owned by pommpey or anyone else for that matter

How can you really say that about Clarke when he's been injured for most of the season? Granted, the fact he's been injured means that he hasn't been a particularly good signing for us but I'm not sure you can say he wouldn't be any good when fit. After he scored against Chesterfield there were plenty on here raving about him

We have Chapman back now who can play a similar role to Lavary. Scored a hatrick playing up top against Orient.
Clarke's comeback is well timed, whatever your feelings towards him.

Would be a shame if Lavery has ligament damage as it would put him out for about a month and end his season early. From what i've seen of him he's certainly got pace and a decent touch and reads the game well. He's seemed to be a little off the pace of the games at times, makes me wonder if he's ever been as sharp as he could've been this season. He'd certainly benefit from the rest and then a full preseason with us. A definite asset for next year and would be a loss now.

As for replacements, with Harry Chapman and Leon Clarke coming back, we're not short of striking options, but whilst Clarke doesn't currently provide what Lavery does, Chapman would be a more than suitable replacement.

As for Clarke, it'll be a huge boost having him back, struggled with form and injury this season and has never quite slotted in, apart from Chesterfield away. Hopefully he can play a role between now and the end of the season.

I did my medial ligaments a few years ago. Took me about six weeks to get fit. But I had to helped off and was on crutches for a few days.

Lavery walked off and will receive daily intensive physio, so he might not be out that long.

Cruciate ligaments are the bad ones

You knew as soon as he went down. Not sure we'll see him again this season :(

Can Matt Done force his way back in?

So we're probably losing Lavery, but gaining Clarke.

It's a real blow, he's a more important player than most seem to realise.

He should have started today. We had no pace in the team at all.

I agree with that. I hope he's not a more important player than Wilder seems to recognise?

I thought Done picked up some knocks yesterday? I guess not bad enough to keep him out.

The question is have we seen the true Leon Clarke yet? It seems as though he has been injured most of the season. I for one am willing to wait and see.
Too many players have been written off by us, and I am as much to blame as any, so let's give him a chance. Just remember Coutts and Freeman - rubbish last season brilliant this.

Yes.

The one thing we do know about Leon Clarke is that he can't play next to Billy. Hence, not the answer.

That might be true but again, I don't think we've seen it enough to make a proper judgement either way. Granted they were terrible together at the start of the season but the whole team was terrible then. Against Chesterfield I thought they played well together but that wasn't only for about half an hour.

If Wilder decides to pair them together again I'm happy to trust his judgement and accept who knows better than me.

Chapman is quite similar to Lavery, with an eye for goal too. Not ideal if he is out, but we have other options.

Oh right then forget my post.

I forgot we have loads of people on here that always know best, in fact why the fuck we employed Wilder when there are so many better options on this board, what the hell were the board thinking? McCabe out!!!!

I don't know but out of curiosity did you write off Coutts, did you want rid of Freeman? Billy too fat and past it? Fleck a Coventry reject? Jake Wright too old to cut it in league one?

After all no one deserves another chance do they? No one could get fit and come good or find a run of form could they? The bloke has a track record at this level, I for one am willing to let him have another chance now we're told he's back somewhere near fit.

Freeman was ok last season. He was binned off by Adkins when Brayford became available. A harsh decision I thought.

Sorry can no one be critical of the unfit journeyman that is Leon Clarke?

Done, Clarke have both held their own in previous campaigns as a leading scorer in this division. Chapman offers something different, Hanson is a target man, McNulty is a bit out in the cold but has shown promise in the past. We have to hope they can all bring something to the table, it's about squad depth and though many find something to grumble about with several of the above options, we have to hope they'll get us over the line.

UTB.

Of course you can be at least be fair and give him a chance. If he is fully fit and not delivering fair enough but to completely write him off before he's had a chance to properly do himself justice is just unfair and leaves you potentially with egg on your face having to claim that "you always said he would come good" or some other bollocks we hear on here all the time when some pariah or other suddenly becomes a Blades hero.
Remember how many he's scored against us, he wasn't too crap then.

You said have we seen everything of Clarke and I said yes. He has played more than enough games this season.

I don't rate him, he is unfit and his best days are behind him. Certainly wouldn't give him a 3 year deal.

Have to agree to disagree. I'm not convinced we have seen everything from him yet but time will tell. I hope I'm right and you're wrong but not for any other reason than it would be good for the Blades.

We all have a right to a view and to disagree it's a Bladey democracy after all!!

UTB!!!!

yeah it sounded to me from Wilder's interview that it might not be that serious. Not sure what the definition of a tweaked ligament is, but if he only felt it slightly they might just be being cautious and he might be OK.

Sometimes you go over on an ankle (I know this is his knee) and it hurts a bit then you walk it off and you're OK soon after (whereas sometimes you do the same and you're knackered up for 18 months especially if it doesn't heal cleanly like mine).

If he puts a packet of frozen peas on the injured knee,he should be fit for Tuesday

We've been here before though BM and that's the point that YBB is making.

So many wrote off Coutts last season along the lines of 'he's a mercenary journeyman who's slow and not up to a fight in this division.'

Nothing wrong at all with being critical and people should stop being massive fannies when their criticism is argued against. "WHY AM I NOT ALLOWED TO CRITICISE A PLAYER?!?!?!?!"

So, when people say 'why write off Clarke', fair enough, disagree... but it seems a little daft given our recent history of getting it wrong.

I'm thinking Leon will be our Ade Akinbiyi before the end of the season. He'll score an important goal to win us a game, but then he'll barely play a role in the Championship and exit swiftly in January. I was hoping that would be Saturday when he came on.

Harry Chapman to come back into the fold off the bench and I believe he has the ability to change games. Could be a impact super sub in the final run-in! I wish Lavery well (hope it's not as serious an injury as it sounds) but if he is out for the rest of the season I'm relaxed knowing we have Harry at the club.
