Agree with sentiment.

But Basham and EEL stand out players today.

Hanson ..............................

UTB

Hanson starting to worry me a bit TBH, wins a few headers but loses a lot of possession easily, also encourages us to whack it aimlessly up front, that's not what we are about. Much prefer Lavery & Sharpe.

Remember that counter attack Carruthers started when he was under a lot of pressure near our own box?

That was brilliant. And he's the only player in our squad who wouldn't have just cleared the ball.

I didn't think defensively we looked good overall, depended on too many last gasp challenges today for my liking.

If we could clone a 23 year old Jake Wright Snr. In time for next season that would be grand. His calming presence was missed today.

Watching Carruthers with the ball today was worth the price of admission alone. He makes it all look so effortless.

My only issue with Carruthers is what we saw in the last ten minutes twice Charlton players ran past him with the ball without even an apology of a challenge from him.

He looks quality on the ball but you have put the other things in as well, especially if you are going to play centre midfield in The Championship next season.

Hanson played like he was pissed today

Hanson may be a Whithurst / Shiperly signing, that bit of bullying to get us over the line but not going to figure much at the higher level.

I thought Lavery gave us a real boost when he replaced Hanson. Really helped get us over the line.

I think Hanson's been a worthwhile signing, but he didn't have his best game today and long term I don't see him featuring much. I would've rather us gone for Tom Elliott from Wimbledon - similarly good target man but younger and more athletic.

My mate is one of the few people who isn't a Caruthers fan for this very reason, "Luxury Player" he calls him.

Personally I love to see a bit of flair, but whether he can play along side Fleck, Coutts and Duffy may be an issue.

O'Connell is my favourite player and has been since we signed him. Just what we needed. Strong in the air and the tackle, comfortable on the ball and no slouch either. Think we forget he's still only 23, so he'll get better too. Future captain I reckon, IF we hang onto him. Weighed in with a few goals now too.

O'Connell has been one of the signings of the season for me. Along with Fleck, we have a player who can rise up the leagues with us and up his game accordingly.

Carruthers is a complete joy to watch. I know it's only cameos at the moment but seeing a player like him is what I go to football matches to see. Back heels, flicks, hitting shots first time, the lad is absolutely brimming with confidence and isn't at all scared to give anything a try.

O'Connell has been great this season. Epitomises a solid defender at the back, puts in some crunching tackles and is decent on the ball too. will make the step up imo if we go up.

Really like carruthers too, think impact player is suiting him at the moment. The fancy flick he played yesterday stood out and made me wonder at the last genuine flair player we had was...? Genuinely looks a player to do something to excite you.

O'Connell stood out for me on the opening day at Bolton, looked a real gem that day. Unfortunately, the Southend debacle - where he was inexplicably at fault for at least two, maybe all three, of their goals - knocked his confidence somewhat and he struggled to break back into the side as the EEL - Wright - Basham back three developed. However, since he has got back in, he's gradually become the mainstay in there. Yes, Wright grabs the headline because of his unbeaten stat but O'Connell is just as good. It remains to be seen if Wright can step up to the Championship, or if we try to bring in EEL, or if Bash can step up but the one thing we must do in the Championship if trust O'Connell. He may be "done" by a couple of better players initially but he will learn and develop; needs games and experience at that level.

Always liked JOC, a solid lad, deceptively quick and that surging run yesterday was great to see, wish he would do that more often, defenders will shit a brick seeing him (or EEL for that matter) charging forward.

Carruthers is a classy player.

Carruthers has a bit of the Alex Sabellas about him but not as skilful.

Really enjoying his flair and confidence at the moment BUT these type of players often excel when things are going well. When we're winning then it looks good to play with swagger, doing tricks and flicks

But if we lose a few then you can bet our fans won't appreciate his tricks and he might even get booed for trying fancy stuff, which is a shame because Carruthers is the type of player you pay good money to watch.

You can see Samir had loads of talent but that's no good unless you learn how to use it and be effective.
