If we do go up there is no need to panic about will we be good enough in the Championship.
We have had the Scubbers from S6 telling us how much more difficult the Championship is since we was last there.
But the truth has emerged( they must have lost their Blade hate specs)

Over on Porktalk

"Just the sign of how poor the championshipnis this year, Last year mcgeady played on loan for a decent club and he looked crap".

So there you have it straight from a pig the Championship is actually Poor.

Usual pig tripe coming out ,they have nothing to say. Our team as it is would survive ,but with additions in the Summer we will be fine. They are just throwing money at big time Charlies ,we have a team. Nothing to worry about at all.

Very well said Sir

It's poor because Wednesday have played crap for most of the season and still can't manage to drop out of the top 6. That's what it based on!

I don't fear the Championship one bit. We need to add a bit more quality. I know I may start a shit-storm by saying this, but I think we need to be looking now for replacements for both Hanson and Sharp over the next season. For no reason other than their age is against them at a higher level of football. For me, we've bought Hanson to get us over the line this season. Anything else we get out of him next season is a bonus. In terms of Sharp, I think he will continue to score goals for us in the Championship and will have a decent season - so I'm not advocating we drop him - not at all - but what I am saying is that he's not going to carry on being prolific at his age, at that level for much longer. So, we need to be thinking about how we refresh that front line with two fresh strikers at some point during the next season. I quite like Lavery, but I'm not sure if he's going to be good enough at that level either tbh.

We also need to get some full backs into the club imo. And a good centre half wouldn't go amiss either. I like Jake Wright but again, he's got limited time left. I think Jack O'Connell is the best centre half at the club - so about time we let him play there instead of left back. And I've no confidence whatsoever in the guy from Wolves - sorry. I've said this for some time now when all on here were making him into some sort of cult hero. He's too error prone for my liking and he'll get ripped a new one in the Championship.

The matches I've seen this season from the championship haven't been that good, I think we need to tighten up defensively but got the basis of a good team already, mid table at least.

With a few smart additions (probably defense and probably a decent mobile centre forward) I see no reason why we couldnt really strike out and aim for the playoffs next season. We will probably come up short of that target but you have to aim high.

Barnsley didn't have a great side last season (they just had a very good defense with a couple of dangerous wingers) and they haven't made too bad a fist of things on their first season back up. United under CW would be very competitive in the championship next season, I have no doubts.

The only people who are claiming otherwise are the pigs cos they are clutchin at straws in a desperate attempt to claim continued superiority in their deluded insecure tiny minds (whilst knowing in their piggy hearts that normal service will soon be restored hence their genuine panic), and toy town fans who are a sad collection of wannabes who know their 4 year period of punching above their weight is fast coming to an end. They want to try and justify their impending relegation with fantasy stories of the championship being like the la Liga. All nonsense. Let the championship fear the Blades, not the other way around.

Hanson and Sharp will both play a part ,and Jake wright is only 30 ,most of his game his played in his head anyway. Wouldn't swap the 3 you have singled out for any of the over rated pigswill and Lavery will get better and better ,a real uncut diamond in my opinion.

There is no need to panic about going up as the OP suggests.

Our midfield play and our box to box stuff is fantastic.

That doesn't mean we don't have some problems that need addressing.

We will not be able to play as open a game in a division higher and we need to address lack of concentration in our box and be more clinical in the opponents box where we will get less chances.

Priorities for me: 2 x CH - the wolves lad can go back and stay on his 3 1/2 year contract, as for Wright, I doubt the extra pace of the division will suit him.
Billy needs a proper partner. If he hadn't had to "try" 4 different ones this season, we could have racked up a record points tally.

Totally agree with all that.

Has Billy Sharp nobbed your lass ?

Why has Landell become 'the Wolves lad ' ? he is only not in the team due to Bashams superb form.
The league above will actually suit some of our players better ,Im thinking Freeman ,Lafferty ,Coutts ,Fleck. Duffy and probably Lavery ,we may also have Riley and Chapman. There are only 5 players I would sell in the summer ,Clarke ,Long ,Scougall McNulty and Reed.

Our midfield is championship quality without a doubt

And after all these years of slow, technically poor, unambitious and wholly limited midfielders, how great is it to be able to say that ! Still feel I have to rub my eyes and pinch myself, watching Fleck, Duff, Coutts and Freeman this year :)

It's simple really. We are closing "the gap" on the pigs. If they don't go up this season, they haven't got the 1 league advantage and we are right on their trotters. No doubt if it was the other way round we would be saying the same things.

In every division, about a third of the teams are basically crap - and that includes the PL. Some wise recruitment, a good manager which we've already got and we'll be fine in the Championship.

I just wana see us go up, first or second, I don't really care, aslong as we take 6 points from the south Barnsley shit swallowers I couldn't give a shite!
Finish mid table next year and into the top 6 the year after and where back where we should be, prems a dream but they do come true, and with Chris at the helm, anything could happen!!!!
COYRAWW!!

Don't think we have anything to fear next season. Our current side is more than capable of mid table Championship. There is no way the likes of Blackburn/Wolves/Ipswich are stronger than us so I'm fully confident we'll be safe. A couple of wise additions and we could have a top half push.

Watching the hundreds of Champ games on Sky this year the standard isn't as great as our porcine neighbours like to think. They have spent millions to remain...... 6th. Only due to no team below them being capable of putting a run together.

Up The Blades!

as we stand as a club I would put us at the moment top half championship , bottom 3rd prem , I do think the prince and mccabe will back CW with funds but I am just worried that the prince decides CW is not the man , I think he could build us another john harris type dynasty if they let him get on with it , this year is the first time for me that we are trying to play flowing forward moving football in years

I've watched the Blades and championship games this season and come to one conclusion IF we are promoted all we really need to do is stop the bloody stupid mistakes at the back and be slightly more clinical up front, only 1 or 2 championship defences would make it difficult for our current team, but the defence needs to be tighter, more mobile, personally I think the same formation will work and wright could still do a job as the centre in a 3 at the back, paul McGrath spent many seasons in the top flight, not because of his speed or in truth his ability but his reading of the game and positional sense made him, like wright a very good central defender and with a couple of more mobile and taller guys beside him could be a very effective defence.
So in closing no we shouldn't have many problems with just 3 or 4 half decent signings.
UTB.

Let's start a thread based on what ONE Wednesday fan posted......

We'll need more athleticism in the Championship. We'll need at least one new first choice centre half. We'll need genuine wide options. We'll have to give ourselves suitable options to play different formations.

But what could be the difference between an average season and a good one is finding a quality strike partner for Sharp. It will also be the hardest thing to find.

But I'm confident we'll be fine as long as Wilder's here.

Slightly off topic, but who thinks that when Billy finally hangs his boots up, he will work along side tufty in some sort of capacity.
At a minimum the youth system.

Saw the thread title and was scared Sharp had had a freak training accident

I love him but, even though the Championship looks shit, we need more meat up front if we're gonna thrive.

Mind you, the fat lad would probably eat it :P

The Champ is no different in quality at all, just inflated prices than previously known. They're actually shitting themselves really. ........

There's no room for sentiment in football

I think Sharp will be a 12-15 goal striker
Hanson only about 5-8

Our midfield don't get enough goals

And our defence doesn't keep clean sheets at League One level

Nobody should be assured of a starting place and any player that we can get that is potentially better than what we have should be signed, even if iit seems like a direct replacement for Sharp

Do you think Barcelona will turn down the next Argentinian or Brazilian sensation because they already have Messi, Neymar and Suarez ?
No they wouldn't
