With respect to post #3256, it's Greavsie and Bernard Shaw, Blades full-back of that era and one-time (possibly literally) England U-23 player
whenever I see a pic of Stan I always remember his mum. She worked on one of the news stand concessions on the old Pond Street when I used to have to switch buses at some god forsaken time of the day to get to work. I would go to her platform to buy my paper even though it wasn't the one I used for either bus. Was always happy to chat about what had happened the previous game and was a genuinely nice woman that didn't have a bad word about anyone except Don Goodman. I don't remember the incident but he must have either done Stan or someone else and she was not at all pleased; she told me he was part of the Black Power organisation and that he was renown in the game for being a nasty piece of work. Ever since then when I hear him on TV as a pundit I am waiting for some of this inner evil to show itself....... never does just always seems like a non entity of a pundit
They were steady.Badger and Shaw . U23 right and left backs . Both great players IMO .
Original wing backs .
They were great to me as a kid .![]()
Sir Len was a great player,no doubt about that
Kyle Walker? The best full back ever "made in Sheffield ", and a top man as well
Kyle Walker?![]()
Peter Bonetti, Tommy Docherty and Doc Pace. We lost 6-1 at Stamford Bridge in Sept 1961
Hard to split them in my view, Kyle has it for athleticism and speed, but for sheer skill, Len has it for me.
Let's call it 50/50..![]()
As much as Len is and was a hero he doesn't come close to Walker.
England caps and press stories of being on Barca's radar confirm it as well.

Blades 1 (Scullion) Chelsea 0 Sept 25th 1971. Top of the League by 3 points
